Also there are hundreds of nuclear facility accidents both civilian and military on record. A lot of people could have easily died in each of these incidents and well let's say a number of deaths due to exposure have occured yet have been covered up. This isn't fantasy btw. A decade or two ago the US gov't admitted exposing people to radiation without their knowledge and a lot of soldiers, sailors have gotten cancer and other ailments who were exposed to radioactive areas and worked with the stuff.

Jimmy Carter who was a nuclear enginner was involved in the cleanup of a nuclear accident. It's no less ...As for nuclear power being safe. It's no less safe then coal or a natural gas plant at normal operations when high safety standards are being maintained.

Thing is when things go bad at a nuke plant depending upon how many people are nearby you could have a few million dead while a coal plant well will only kill the workers at the plant and perhaps some nearby civilians.

Also breeder reactors do produce waste and there have been some serious accidents such as Japan's only breeder reactor where the agency responible tried to cover up how bad it was by falsifying reports of the accident.

As for Carter the fear rightly justified was that the program to make the fuel for the breeder reactors could be used instead to make nuclear weapons and make it a lot easier to do so. This making fuel for the breeder reactors is also how the first atomic weapons came about since they thought uranium was scare but then abandoned it for awhile when lots of uranium and other methods of processing weapons grade uranium and plutonium came about.

Oh there is also one facility that makes a certain part for nuclear plants that makes them as safe as they can be. One facility makes just a few of these parts each year. http://bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601109&sid=aaVMzCTMz3ms&refer=home

As for a solution for global warming nuclear power to even make ten percent of that solution 25 nuke plants a year would have to be built for 40 years. Nuclear power is not a solution for the world's energy needs. It may have it's place but it isnt the solution even with breeder reactors.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5809126056034906096.post-74029147210029266782009-09-15T17:19:39.310-05:002009-09-15T17:19:39.310-05:00Speaking of reality shows in comics or superhero c...Speaking of reality shows in comics or superhero culture before they become really popular in the mainstream (refering of course to reality shows but how popular superhero movies/comics are at anytime in the mainstream is another matter entirely) has anyone else seen the movie "The Specials"?

It's fairly decent for an indie superhero movie.
