Wait ... this takes place in a universe where the Greek and Norse pantheons have been shot to exist, and the Church of Humanity seriously thinks having a mutant for a pope who kind of sort of looks like a demon (which actually, no, no he doesn't - he has a tail and weird coloring, he doesn't have horns or a forked tongue or anything) is going to shake people's faith? Anyone who is still a Christian in the Marvel Universe at this point has already dealt with the bombshell of having Thor and Hercules and their godly foes running around but, oh no, Nightcrawler being the pope is just too much?! What kind of sense does that make?! When you talked about religious folk being offended by the idea of "all religions pray to the same god," you were showing the list of religions (the one that looks like a bunch of buttons) and one of the easily seen names was the Baha'i Faith. You should know that one of the central tenants of the Baha'i Faith is that all religions DO pray to the same god, just by different names. I should know, I used to be one (agnostic now).

Seriously, if someone's offended by the idea of "God by different names," they'd have to be pretty fundamentalist.kinkorknighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15898494748005754557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5809126056034906096.post-12485242783847796912009-11-30T00:35:03.392-06:002009-11-30T00:35:03.392-06:00At first, I thought you were snickering because th...At first, I thought you were snickering because the dead mutant was Turtle-Boy. The weird thing is, it seems that the author really believed he was writing something deep and meaningful about faith and organised religion. Instead, it's just horribly smug and betrays his ignorance of the religion he's criticising.

My guess is that Austen was trying to ape "God Loves, Man Kills", except that was actually good, and the villain's plan and motives made a small amount of sense.Elementalnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5809126056034906096.post-21626159961675119142009-06-05T04:10:22.688-05:002009-06-05T04:10:22.688-05:00Yeah, something seems to be wrong with the file. ...Yeah, something seems to be wrong with the file.
