Godzilla vs. Barkley

I think this whole thing was really just a PSA for not putting coins in your mouth.

  1. Wonder if there's a Shaq Fu comic?

Sweet green screen effect at the end by the way. Wish I had a green screen.

  2. Not a green screen, actually - chromakey (well, to be specific lumakey, but who's counting?).

  3. Love the singing/quoting Dr. Horrible at the end. I was thinking the same thing... I suppose that makes sense though... us having similar brain patterns/geneitic make up, experiences and all that... though you didn't tie in silver dollars as remote controls... thought you would have nailed that as a common niche in bad comics.

Loved this episode. One of your best. Loved the list of people who take Godzilla, Koolaid guy was my favorite.

  6. I only recently found your blog, but your videos are hilarious! This one is certainly no exception. The jokes were funny, and I had no idea this comic even existed! Kudos! :)

  7. Wait, Dark Horse actually made this garbage? Oh, and the reporter's name was Janet Planet...

    -.-

  8. If you're referring to how I did the Tom Brokaw accent when she was supposed to be a woman... well, I just wanted to use my Brokaw accent for something. XD

  9. Nah, I meant to say how ridiculous the name was. >.< Was a good impression though.

  10. Thanks for adding the Dr. Horrible quip at the end- it made my day! I rather enjoyed this one, especially since this was my first comic book (everyone on my little league basketball team got one- "product placement: they start 'em young nowadays").

Did anyone notice that they called JAPAN to come and help? Does that seem a little off to anyone besides me? We Japanese are pretty much the last people you want to ask if your city has just been invaded by any mythically sized beast.

  11. "Godzilla got busy" is the greatest panel in comic history. DON'T LIE.

    Also, Dr. Horrible FTW!

  12. How much of a fanboy am I that I want that comic?

The whole thing was a "so bad it's good."

And I figured Gamera was more of an American Football player. (seems like a perfect lineman)

  14. Hey Lewis,

I believe that Hamilton Comics actually published another Charles Barkely comic entitled "Sir Charles Barkley and the Referee Murders" which cast the basketball player as a tough-talking detective. The highlight was flip-book photo sequence featuring Barkley dressed as Dick Tracy.

There was also a Lebron James comic that DC put out a few years ago which featured Lebron playing against a guy named "Abominable" on a basketball court made out of junked cars and ice.

    Hilarious as always, good job!

  16. I kinda wish Godzilla did tear that guys face off. It would have been much cooler.

  17. It may sound creepy coming out of an anon, but hearing you say "C'mon, you stupid thing, make me grow!" to that coin will never, ever get old in my eyes.

  19. You know seeing this for the first time in forever made me think the following:

    1. If Barkley was a Sixer back during when he fought Godzilla...then would he be out in LA when this tale occurred? (it probably explains why he's near the Pacific...and the random Bill Cosby cameo...yeah, I know my home)

    2. Considering the evolution of AT4W from here, I am not surprised that the magic coin wasn't connected to some wannabe Power Rangers villain who used it to make their monsters grow...and no, I don't think it would have fit Vyce's whole schitck either but considering the Magic Gun's explanation...

  20. "Godzilla 98 sucks. Get it? It's funny because it's a true fact, and if you disagree you are not only wrong but deserve to be burnt at the stake."

Seriously, get a better sense of humor.

  21. Why are so many people okay with you mocking black and gay people? Is that the extent of your humor?

...When did I do EITHER of those things?

As I am one of these minorities: Shut up. You are the kind of person that sees oppression everywhere, even if it's not really there. Linkara is not homophobic and not racist.

  25. "You wanna give me a dollar? Buy a ticket to the game!"
^ Most subtle commercial ever. I mean the whole comic is one giant subtle commercial but this line, it just hides it so well, yes.
