Your Moment of Awesome for the Day

Allow this to also serve as my formal statement that I did not see the Wolverine movie, nor did I have any intention of seeing the Wolverine movie, nor will I go see the Wolverine movie. And considering the negative reviews I've been seeing, especially in regards to a certain Merc with a Mouth, I just thought I'd share a panel from today's issue, Deadpool #10.

And for those who don't read the book, it's even funnier in context. I would SO read a book where every issue Deadpool was just a total annoying dick to Norman Osborn.

ALTERNATE CAPTION: I wonder if Deadpool believes in camping? ‎

Man, If you hated Watchmen, you are quite right to avoid Wolverine. I mean over all, It's not that bad. But What they did to Deadpool? And Set him up for a SEQUEL?! If you thought bearded idiot was bad, just wait for the adventures of Mouthless jack ass!!

I still didn't head down to get that issue, but I'll definately be reading it soon. In regards to the Deadpool movie spinoff... sigh.... I want my regenerating degenerate to actually be the assassin we all know and love and not some mega man clone. (if you saw the movie, you know what I mean by that)

Tedious. Avoid at all costs. It's not flat-out bad, it's just got nothing going for it that hasn't already been done and done better. If you want a good Wolverine story, stick with the Claremont/Miller mini-series. That's pretty much the character at the apex of his cool. Nowadays he's played out like Bossk on a Segueway.

That's a shame what they did to Deadpool. Personally I would love to see a Deadpool cartoon series. Henry Rollins could do the voice of Deadpool, it would be a PG-13 version of the comic and they could put it on Adult Swim (because they more good stuff).

Wolverine wasn't bad, it wasn't good, it was just bland. It took little to nothing from the comics, and had one to many shots of Hugh Jackmans ass. If you see it, you really wont register having seen it, its just that unremarkable.

@Anonymous

I don't know, I thought Nolan North did an excellent job of portraying the merc with the mouth in Hulk Vs. Wolverine. Now -there's- the movie they should've put in theatres. With a longer running time of course. And ninjas. Ninjas with lasers.

Linkara? Can you please please PLEASE do a video all about Deadpool? Like, which issues I should read or the history of the character? Or one about Cassandra Cain? Because it sounds like she got an even worse deal than Spider-Man

Oh, and P.S. you're awesome.

Lewis Lovhaug said...

Yes, I am. :D

As for videos on Deadpool, we'll see. I say find most any back issues of his, particularly of the most recent series, and you should be fine.

As for Cass Cain, well she's doing better these days and I'm waiting for Battle for the Cowl to end before I make any judgment calls on videos for her.

Hollywood blah blah blah.

sequel haddidy blah.

You know, I tried to get into the hype of the wolverine film, but, the third Xmen movie blew it out of the water for me. It was a let down of colossal proportions with such inclusions of a 'cure' and the like.

Now take X-men plot and stick it with the most 'popular' over powered character ever created and that is the plot line to most of this story, I found it tedious, unlike the watchmen movie that was a little wordy.

Deadpool. He has got to be one of the snarkiest, funniest mercs I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Definitely need to pick up more of his stuff, ah, nostalgia!

Hold on, what did they do to Deadpool in the new Wolverine movie? I've not seen it, nor will I likely have a chance to.

Hi there. I'm kind of off-topic here, but I couldn't think of a better way to ask you something. Is Preacher worth reading ? I don't know, I'm asking you because I thought the plot is interesting and you'd be the best one to give advice.

In regards to Preacher, some will say yes, others will say no. What I saw did not interest me in the slightest.

Is it me or this the current Norman Osborn in power who doesnt have memory of who peter parker is, no long has spiderman as his main enemy, spiderman been replaced by Deadpool as the main Osborn obcession. It's quite hilarous and one of the enjoyable factors of Dark Reign.

that Panel of Osborn saying Deadpool reminds of Futarama when the Dean would scream RobotHOUSE !!!!!

by the way, did you see this week Amazing spiderman, they show the new Vulture eating people and having their guts shown and he vomitted acid on spidey and is blind, yesh, the issue before had old people sex. hahhaha

@Psychotime: I have some friends who swear by Preacher and really enjoy it. I liked 'Gone to Texas', but I find that I only truly enjoy Ennis when he's either writing war comics or westerns. His Saint of Killers mini-series(collected in Preacher Volume 4: Ancient History) is one of the most utterly badass horror-westerns I've read. It's only when he goes near the superhero archetype that I start to twitch and froth at the mouth. His hatred of the cape and cowl genre is so thick and rich you could pour it over waffles.

Cass turned out quite well in the most recent Battle of the Cowl tie-in, the Network. :)

Didn't reveal how she'd be leaving the role though, as she's apparently being replaced by someone else in August (who appears to be wearing Cass' outfit according to the cover of the first issue of the new Batgirl series). *sighs*

From what i heard about the secret endings. *Spoiler* Is Deadpool's body crawling to his decapitated head, with his mouth, breaks the fourth wall by telling the audience to shhh. So there is hope, but then again this is FOX we're talking about.

In regards to the movie, one of the instances is that Wade is a motor mouth but, before his bad-assery days detailed in the 2008 to present series.

In this series he fights zombies, sharks and asks one of the personal team members to Osbourne (who in another storyline kills off an alien invasion, which, deadpool also had a role in) out on a date of sorts.

Ah, his antics are so amusing and fun!

Dammit. I thought this was something from a current Marvel comic and they were finally giving in to fan demand to have Deadpool - who KNOWS he's in a comic book - become the key to stopping Norman by reminding the public "Hey, this guy was dead and in prison for a while!" and reminding Peter "Hey... what happened to your wife?"

Damn you for raising my hopes that the insanity was over!

@looking2dastars

This IS from a current comic (it just came out this Wednesday, in fact), but he's not really trying to take down Norman for any selfless means. Norman just cheated him out of money that was owed to him for digging up data on the Skrulls. Ya don't mess with Wade's paycheck, especially if you're gonna take all the glory for yourself.

He HAS referenced One More Day before, in the last issue of the FANTASTIC Cable & Deadpool. "At least I didn't have to make a deal with the devil to give myself a supporting cast." As much as Daniel Way has surprised me with this new series (I do not much like Wolverine Origins, his other big series), Cable & Deadpool was one of the best runs of the character I've read (the only thing superior being Gail Simone's "Healing Factor" arc and her work on Agent X).

Well, to the guy who asked about preacher, it's my favorite series ever, so I'd say yes, but I'm quite aware that not all people enjoy Garth Ennis' work, which is a shame, really.

I appreciated the nuance of the paper Deadpool wrote on was yellow. Deadpool: Atop the fourth wall before it was cool to be there.

I just followed the link, and Oh my God...that sampling was just a trainwreck. I think Mephisto is all behind this. Or Joe Quesada. Or both. Either way, this sucks for Spidey. No wonder Linkara hates post-OMD Spiderman comics.

As for the Wolverine movie, the buzz WASN'T great...I'm not really interested.

Yo, first time commenter on your site. Love the show, plus it cued me into the awfulness of Liefield. After seeing Wolverine, I was so damn ANGRY about that movie, I pledged to read the REAL Deadpool. I'd only seen the few stray panels that float around the Internets, but even those oozed awesome. Finding "Hulk v. Wolverine" intrigued me more; the film is rather ho-hum typical super-hero fighting until Deadpool randomly shows up.

If you can, grab the first volume "Classic Deadpool" book. If you can stomach your way through the first comic (New Mutant by...gah...Liefield), the rest is amazing.

I LOVE Deadpool comics lately and have been collecting a lot of them in graphic novel format, and I have to say this is the best panel EVER :D
