State of the Wall: 3-18-2013

It's that time again! Nothing really huge to report in the update, but I do include few things I've been meaning to post for a few days now, plus of course the schedule of upcoming episodes, so take a look under the cut.

Schedule of Upcoming Episodes
3/25 – Titans Retrospective: Titans #26-50
4/1 – Target $20 Lamp Review
4/8 – Power Pachyderms #1
4/15 – Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
4/22 – Dragnet #4
4/29 – Wild Thing #1
May: 2099 Month
5/6 – 2099 Month: Spider-Man 2099 #1
5/13 – 2099 Month: Hulk 2099 #1
5/20 – 2099 Month: Doom 2099 #1
5/27 – 2099 Month: Ravage 2099 #1

Now some of you might think it's bad for me to have a theme month so soon after the last one. I will say you get five episodes before then of comics and lamps of varying quality, so you'll get to see plenty of other stuff before we talk about another little eccentricity of the 90s.

One Moment in Time Crossover Commentary

Commentary for the One Moment in Time crossover with the Last Angry Geek!

Podcast Talking about Power Rangers Costumes!
Impatient for History of Power Rangers? Well, the good news is that I recently did a podcast with Podcast Sentai Rangers where we discussed EVERY suit from Power Rangers and Super Sentai! You can go HERE to listen to it or download the MP3 HERE!

Lightbringer Update
So about two months later aaaand I haven't picked a new writer yet. Yeah, sorry, but it's been a priority for me to get ahead of the game on episodes since this summer is going to be PACKED (see conventions below). Needless to say I want to pick a new writer soon and a lot of people have submitted, so I'll be going through them at my earliest possible convenience.

History of Power Rangers Update
Part of also getting ahead of the game is working on History of Power Rangers again. As you may have noticed if you follow my twitter feed, I have once again resumed work on watching Mystic Force. I'm also regularly watching MegaForce on Saturdays to keep up with that so that when I eventually reach those episodes, it'll be a lot easier to write out the videos for those. Want my opinion on it? I like it, but that's pretty much it. You want a detailed look? Wait for the video. Still planning on trying to get the rest of the History finished this year.

Longbox of the Damned Update
I have started preliminary work on the Midsummer's Nightmare version of Longbox of the Damned which we'll be doing probably either June or July (yes, I know it's not "midsummer" in June - shut up) and I confirm that I will DEFINITELY have one this October, so look forward to that.

DVD Update
Not much to say on this front either, but of course I'm pleased to report that I have picked out the four comics that will be the four DVD-exclusive episodes. I will say that some involve superheroes and some involve other fun things that comics used to talk about in the 30s, 40s, and 50s. I have also figured out what the storyline for the videos will be. It will not be a confrontation with a villain, since the editing on THAT would be a pain in the ass, but I think people will be quite happy with what I have chosen to be the story on the DVD. I'd still love to hear ideas for DVD extras (assuming I can fit them when I'm trying to fit four episodes of indeterminate length on this thing).

Upcoming Convention Appearances
2013 is shaping up to have a looooot of conventions coming up, mostly in the summer.
-Animinneapolis once again in Bloomington, Minnesota on June 28th through 30th. Animinneapolis' Website
-Anime Midwest in Chicago, Illinois on July 5th through 7th. Doug Walker will also be there! Anime Midwest's Website
-ConBravo once again in Ontario on July 26th through 28th. Expect a more formal announcement video of my attendance in the near future. ConBravo's Website
-MythiCon in Orlando, Florida on August 23rd through 25th. My first time in Florida! MythiCon's Website
-MetaCon once again in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 30th through September 1st. This one is tentative because it's RIGHT AFTER MythiCon, but I'm still planning on attending. MetaCon's Website

Now as you can imagine, this is A LOT of conventions in a relatively short amount of time. The hope I have is that I will be so caught up and ahead on Atop the Fourth Wall episodes that I can do live shows at each and every one of them. If I fail in that goal, I have a backup plan: live riffing on shorts. To be perfectly honest, riffing is actually a lot easier for me to write than the comic stuff (it helps that the public domain shorts offer so much to work with), so there will be a live performance of SOMETHING even if it isn't a comic.

For some of these, like the local conventions of Animinneapolis and MetaCon, I'll definitely have tables for selling stuff, which should hopefully include plushie cybermats, comics I've reviewed, and the DVD (which will hopefully be finished by then).

Revolution of the Mask Update
So, how many times have you heard me say Issue 3 is almost complete? ^_~ Well, same tune there, but the other good news is that issue 4 is halfway done! I'm probably NOT going to release them both at the same time, but the good news is that if you want to see progress being made on Issue 4, well BJC has been posting up snippets of his work on his deviantart page! You can check out pictures of him inking the pages and some of the pencils/inks in THIS GALLERY!

That's all I've got for now. You may now begin asking me questions about things.

Commentary and Behind the Scenes

FINALLY hear Linkara's commentary for the Electric Tale of Pikachu episode!

Other things not mentioned:
-The cry that I heard when fighting MissingNo. seemed to be Zapdos' cry. I remember that specificially because once when I went to fight Zapdos in the Power Plant, I was terrified to hear its cry and thought the game had glitched and MissingNo. was in the power plant.
-The other reason why the other reviewers could still tweet and do all their videos was because I wasn't going to insist they all stop production on their own stuff just to satisfy the storyline in MY videos. A lot of other producers rely on the income from the videos just like I do and it's ridiculous to think that mine are more important than theirs.

ALSO! While I was looking through footage in my projects folder, I came across Behind the Scenes footage I filmed during the Brawl! Never really released it before because there's not much to it, but hey - you can experience just how tedious it can be to sit in a room for ten hours and watch other people record. Enjoy!

Odds, Ends, and Evens

AT4W Facebook Fan Page
No, I have not reversed my position on the utter pointlessness of Facebook.

However, a bunch of fans have banded together to create a fan page on Facebook, organized under Sakura Mahal! And since it'll get people off my back about it (hopefully), I'm pretty much making it official. I'm giving her authorization to represent me there, though just to be clear it is NOT me who posts there, but her - she relays questions to me via e-mail and she posts the answers I provide (though with my e-mail backlog it can sometimes take a while).

You can find it HERE or along the sidebar!

She's also holding a t-shirt contest in honor of the group recently getting 2000 members! The full details can be found HERE, and you can ignore the bit about providing a mailing address ahead of time (I'd rather people's addresses NOT be sent considering 99% of the entrants aren't going to be getting anything, thus we shouldn't ask for any addresses until someone wins).

Otherwise, the facebook page will be added to the sidebar, so take a gander, join up, do all that stuff that people use facebook for that exist in other places and therefore I have no use for it! ...Or just join up because, hey, you can talk with other AT4W fans and other announcements and stuff. ^_^

Doom's IV #2 Commentary
Also enjoy me trying to figure out why I started off saying "Now we've got it!" in my second episode!

IE9 Compatability
Some of you using Internet Explorer 9 (like myself) may have noticed that videos that are posted here from last January and back are now appearing strangely. Long story short, Blip's new video player has an issue with IE9 or IE9 has an issue with Blip's player, etc., etc. - the point is that older videos not containing a new tag they started adding are appearing as broken quicktime links or similar broken links. I CAN manually fix this, but it means going back and changing the embed codes for over 100 videos. I'm trying to find a way to fix them all automatically (the way suggested by Blip isn't working), but we'll see.

I may have to go back and do it anyway, since Blogspot now has a feature where you can create new permanent pages and since I still don't have an official website for AT4W (I will eventually - it'll just take a while), I'm thinking of creating a permanent archive page for videos, which means I'll have to go and get links to each video page, anyway.

E-mails
Just another reminder, Comcast, AOL, and a few other e-mail providers still reject my e-mail responses (I really need to get around to trying to fix that), so sadly if you're sending me e-mails through them you probably won't get a response. As to people asking me about donations they've sent - I've honestly been really busy the last few weeks and I've been trying to catch up on e-mails, but I haven't had the time to sit down and answer as many as I'd like. I'll keep trying, but please just be patient. ‎ Read more!

Announcement, Panels, and Commentaries!

A lot of stuff behind the cut! Click "Read More" to find out what's going on in the near future plus some goodies!

For those of you who have been following the upcoming episodes lists, you'll recall that I had an episode scheduled for Christmas Day. However, due to circumstances beyond my control, this episode is being pushed back until after the New Year.

Yeah, I'm really sorry - I wanted this to be an awesome Christmas gift, but realistically I doubt I'll be able to get the episode done within the week I have left, plus I'm contracting some more work for it to be done that won't be completed until after the New Year, as well.

In addition, MagFest is going to be tricky. I've got the live show stuff, which isn't too bad to put together myself, but the real problem comes from the fact that I will say that storyline stuff is going to happen in the Justice League: Cry for Justice review... and that storyline stuff is tricky to pull off when I've got Magfest to plan for and around. Currently I don't PLAN to revise the schedule, buuuut it might happen in order to reshuffle things to make my life easier. I really hate to do it since I've got my plans and all, but I wanted to make you guys aware of it in case that's what I end up doing.

Anyway, since I'm not going to be able to get that episode for you by Christmas, enjoy COMMENTARIES! And oh yes, the full That Guy with the Glasses panel from Daisho Con!

First up is a commentary on my very first episode - Spider-Man #56!

Next is a commentary for Silent Hill: Dead/Alive #5!

And finally, Daisho Con!

Superman 4 Commentary
Just how did this epic crossover occur? Find out!

Podcast Interview Number... Uhh... I've lost track.

Moonhawk Studios did a podcast interview with me a few weeks ago (yeah, I'm behind on a couple of things) and you can find it HERE!

Just scroll down to "Season 02, Episode 03" to hear us discuss Lightbringer, Revolution of the Mask, and of course the thing that actually made me popular. Though just FYI, the first ten minutes or so are them filling in stuff for their previous podcast, so just be patient!

New episodes
Alrighty, doing it a teensy bit early since I don't want to make another Odds and Ends post in just two more weeks, but I'm also going all the way through February!

12/14 – Extreme Super Christmas Special #1
12/21 – James Bond, Jr. #3

2/1 – Ultimates 3 #3-4
2/8 – Ultimates 3 #5
2/15 – SPECIAL DOUBLE FEATURE!

Mechakara
As I've said on message boards, forums, and other places, the Mechakara subplot will be resolved in February. In the meantime, I think you guys should start working on who he is and what he wants!

Every appearance he's made gives a clue or a hint as to his identity, his motivations, or his goals, so here's the list of appearances/Hints:
-Superman vs. the Terminator #1
-Countdown Part 1
