October 2011 Trailer (Plus Odds and Ends)
Because this week's "That's All I'm Saying" may be delayed due to stuff occurring in my personal life, I decided to give you all a treat and release this trailer early. Enjoy!
And look behind the cut for the full schedule!

Secret Origins Month

Conventions
While I have nothing concrete as of yet due to some communication problems I'm having, I AM trying to be a guest at Youmacon this November in Michigan. Again, once I actually manage to work through the communication difficulties, I will announce, but otherwise nothing solid.
However, it's pretty clear that I WILL be going to MAGFest this January. Again, I haven't heard back from them yet, but I submitted my panel (Atop the Fourth Wall Live) and considering last year's Live Show was completely filled up, I'm thinking it'll probably go over well again. And even if I don't get to do the panel again, I'm still planning on going if only because it's a great chance to meet fans and hang out with my fellow TGWTG producers (and I'm planning a crossover here and there, so it's definitely going to be fun).
History of Power Rangers Update
Well, wouldn't you know it - once again we have people asking again about when the next History of Power Rangers will be. Don't worry, I have no intention of doing another six minute rant about it, but I will remind people YET AGAIN that there is no set schedule for it and October through February is indeed my biggest time for doing Atop the Fourth Wall due to storyline stuff and just because it's the holiday season and it's busy. Fortunately, I don't have to worry about moving this time, so that should help.
I have finished SPD and have started on Mystic Force. No, don't bother asking what my feelings are on them - that's what the videos are for, plus my snarky comments on twitter. SPD is probably going to end up being three videos because I have a lot to say and the answer of "When will it be released?" is and always has been: "When it's done." In addition, doing "That's All I'm Saying" on a weekly basis also takes a lot of time and effort, basically sacrificing the entirety of a Wednesday evening writing, recording, and editing it all together and that's not made any easier these days with the DC relaunch and me picking up around 13 comics per week during it.
As of this writing I'm four episodes into Mystic Force, and fortunately from here on the seasons get shorter, so that should help, but it really comes down to HAVING the time to watch the episodes. Still, I have not abandoned this project nor shall I abandon it - I still enjoy watching the episodes and I enjoy hearing your own thoughts about seasons.
Speaking of, ALL of Power Rangers is available on Netflix streaming, so for the bajillions of people who want to know where to find it, there you go.
Nice, very nice commercial.
ReplyDeleteSo when is the next HoPR coming out again? :p
ReplyDeletejust kidding.
Eagerly anticipating Secret Origins Month 2! Wonder Woman, The Fantastic Four, Golden Age Green Lantern and Captain America! Maybe the new Captain America movie will be on DVD in time for some fresh clips for that particular review or a revamped Secret Origins montage intro. Just a thought anyway.
ReplyDeleteThree videos for SPD?! Wow. I've been anticipating this one especially since it was the season that got me into the franchise, which means I can be more active in discussion when we get there. While I suspect we may not agree on certain points, if you're willing to devote this much attention to it, then hey, more power to you!
That trailer is pure epictastic. I am so looking forward to October.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the music used at the end of the trailer?
ReplyDeleteJust in time for the Fantastic Four's 50th anniversary, you're checking out FF #1? That, my friend is TIMING! Looking forward to the rest of Secret Origins month and of course the end of the Entity saga!
ReplyDeleteThe Silent Hill tradition continues unabated. I can't see you reviewing those books any other time of year. They just don't scream "Arbor Day reading".
Great list!
Thanks for the schedule, Linkara. Definitely looking forward to those episodes.
ReplyDelete"What is the music used at the end of the trailer?"
ReplyDeleteTheme of Laura from Silent Hill 2.
I think I know what the secret review will be, I won't say it until I am right, but I was hoping you would do more Silent Hill comics!
ReplyDeleteOoh, looks like the next few months are gonna be fun!
ReplyDeleteI've actually read the Silent Hill oneshots due to morbid curiosity. Maybe they'll make more sense in your review. (probably not)
That voice is strangely terrifying. I'm glad I didn't watch this trailer at night...alone. Hopefully the rest of this arc is the same way!
Another Secret Origins month. Do we get to find out Linkara's origin this time?
Dude. You're on them internets. Of course people are going to keep asking you incessantly where the next episode of HoPR is. I agree that it's pointless, and I acknowledge that it must be annoying to you, but it's inevitable. And I guarantee you that the people who read (and care) about items like this are not the same as those who repeatedly ask you the question. Please realize that just as these queries annoy you, the constant refrain of "there is no set schedule so stop asking" is mildly annoying to some of us who know better than to ask.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I love your work on HoPR, and I continually wait with anticipation for the next episode. Whenever it arrives. Take your time, be happy, do your great work, and don't let them internets get you down.
LINKARA, you have DELIBERATELY SCREWED OVER all of the NON-BIG TWO-ORIGINATED heroes for Secret Origins Month AGAIN! No Captain Marvel, no Red Circle heroes, no TMNT, not even any of the Heroic Publishing characters!
ReplyDeleteOn other matters, here is my list of suggestions for future reviews:
*Marvel's recent revival of 'Mystic' (For NEXT YEAR!)
*Dell's monster superheroes of 1966-67 (Dracula, Frankenstein, and Werewolf)
*Archie's version of the Shadow (You promised us the Shadow in 2009, SO DELIVER!)
*The New Blackhawk Era (issues #228 to #241; Good stuff for the show!)
*Human Metal Men (issues #37 to #41)
*Justice League Detroit (Justice League of America [volume 1] #233 to #261, plus Annuals #2 to #3)
*Biker Butch Black Canary (issues #9 to #120
*Electric Superman
*Connor Hawke as Green Arrow
And finally... New Look Archie!
One last question: WHEN WILL THE WARRIOR #4 REVIEW COME OUT?
Jeremy Aron Patterson.
I'm looking forward to this, it's going to be fun. I really like your Silent Hill reviews, even though I haven't played the games, because I scare easily, but I have watched a few let's plays and found them to be interesting.
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean that Linkara is taking on the God of the Order?
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you finish up with the Scott Ciencin Silent Hill stuff. Though, I wonder what the next year's Halloween books are going to be. How about Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash?
ReplyDeleteWhat, people are asking that again, I gotta get on that. Okay here goes, when's the next HoP (doorbell rings), hold on gotta get that,
ReplyDelete(doorbell keeps ringing)
Me: I'm coming, I'm coming. Alright, whatdya wa... omigod, it's Linkar...
Linkara: I AM A MAN!!!
(PUNCH)
(5 brick walls collapse)
Me: OH MY GOD, what the hell was that? Where did all these brick walls come from.
Well, that'll teach me never to ask when the next HoPR is.
I'm calling it, The Entity is The God The Magic Gun Girl was sacrificed to! Hence the Silent Hill tradition and such. W00T!! OCTOBER LOOKS GREAT!
ReplyDeleteFor the Cap review, you really have to use 'Star-Spangled Man' for the title card music and/or credits theme. Either that or his Marvel/Capcom theme song.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the three vids for the HOPR vid is not new, he did do a three-part video for Wild Force, though that was on the account of that seson having two team-ups as opposed to one.
Plus, holy hell, is that trailer creepy as hell. It's gonna give me night terrors, that's for sure. =D
You are a far braver person than I to suffer through Mystic Force. I never made it past the theme song.
ReplyDeleteA little disappointed at three solid weeks of Silent Hill (hate that franchise) but Planet of Symbiotes should be worth the wait. Hope 90s Kid survives until then.
Oh Dear, MORE Silent Hill comics? What is that, nearly every one except sinners reward that warranted a burning? Preview as creepy as before. Thought the Entity thing was ending a bit early, but considering how story-line heavy things have been for a while and the current progression of it, it does make sense.
ReplyDeleteTake your time with Mystic Force. It's nothing that special, but considering you're likely to go into Operation Overdrive disliking it, you'd be in for a two season stint of pain.
"Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash?"
ReplyDeleteUnlikely. I LIKE Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash. XD
"LINKARA, you have DELIBERATELY SCREWED OVER all of the NON-BIG TWO-ORIGINATED heroes for Secret Origins Month AGAIN! No Captain Marvel, no Red Circle heroes, no TMNT, not even any of the Heroic Publishing characters!"
Jeremy Patterson - I grow VERY weary of your posts offering nothing but random suggestions for things to review without context or reason for them to be reviewed. I am very tired of it, so let me make this clear - either contribute something USEFUL to comments and discussion or stop posting, because I will no longer humor your random suggestions by allowing them through, or at worse, I will mark them as spam. The same goes for posting links to other people's videos that have only the vaguest connection to the topic of a review.
And of course I'm only reviewing the Big Two - THOSE ARE THE ONES PEOPLE KNOW. No one gives a rat's ass about the origin stories of the Red Circle characters and TMNT was made not-too long ago in the grand scheme of things. The entire idea behind Secret Origins Month is to look at characters from the Golden and possibly even Silver Age and see where POPULAR characters originated from, ones that pop culture actually recognizes beyond just comic book-reading audiences. Will I get to Captain Marvel eventually? Most likely, but not in this run because there are only four weeks in the month.
As for Warrior #4, ask Spoony. He's the one editing it, but if you must know, he has said that he was unhappy with how much of the footage turned out so he is considering scrapping it and redoing it all later at another event where we are all together.
I often wonder if you are deliberately attempting to troll people with the kind of posts you made at CBR and here or if you just can't stop and think for two seconds. Needless to say, I find myself to be a patient and good-natured person, but when you accuse me of deliberately leaving out certain characters in an attempt to "Screw them over," I finally reach my breaking point.
Neat trailer. I'm curious where next month will be going and eager to see the reveal of the entity, how it's familiar to you, and how you'll defeat it. It'll be cool to see more secret origins month and the comics you do for it.
ReplyDeleteI myself am always a patient viewer for your History of Power Rangers videos. I don't know how long most seasons of the show are nowadays and these videos have gotten me interested in power rangers again but as with anything it takes time and effort. I patiently wait for your next HOPR, especially with all the other videos you do. Good Luck, Linkara.
As soon as I saw the"Plus Odds and Ends" part of the title I knew it had to be about with The Entity Arch though this is the first time I commented on your blog and using the Name/URL feature. And don't worry I am "Kaibaman" On thatguywiththeglasses(in case you've seen my comments)
ReplyDeleteI have to say this was impressive, the chanting showcasing the past present and future on your Halloween specials(along with the entity) was brilliant,I was afraid/expecting a image of The Entity as a scare like The Scary Maze Game..I don't know why but I did..but one thing puzzled me and scared me,what does"Their was a Comic reviewer here. He's Gone now" mean
Though I am sick of people constantly asking you about HOPR it makes me wonder at times"This is a Side Project" don't people get.
It seems as we know more of the Entity, the less intresting S/he becomes. Don't get me wrong, S/he's still scary, but with the whole brotherhood thing, S/he's just another evil god. Still, I await to see how you defeat hir this October. I bet it ties in to the same Hypertime event that brought in Mekakara and Linksano.
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing the origins of Wonder Woman and Alan Scott. I heard that he died at the end of the final JSA issue. For some reason I played the "Gandalf's fall" song from Lord of the Rings after hearing that. He is a great hero that deserves as much attention from the media as Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy, and Kyle. Also, looking forward to the close of the entity story arc. By the by, what do you think of Doctor Who series six so far?
ReplyDeleteIf you do secret origins month again next year, could you do the origin of the JSA, if All-Star #3 had an origin for the team?
On the trailer: I'm not going to say anything yet since trailers for the SH comics are more teases then anything and I'll wait until seeing the actual ocmics before commenting but good tease all the same.
ReplyDeleteOn the schedule: I was wondering about that one actually. Glad to see the special three year anniversary comic (though I still wonder how many comics are left to cover in the clone saga anyway) as well as Secret Origins month 2. I don't know why some people want you to go with more obscure choices when the fun is going with the more well known. Actually I thought you would of went with Iron Man instead of Captain America but consdiering how Cap is the oriignal Marvel hero he makes sense going here. So Iron Man will just have to wait his turn next year most likley.
On Conventions: Hope you are able to go to Youmacon and sort out all your communication problems. And I know this would be very unlikley and just a hopeful imagination of mine, but I always did want to see a "you're such a card game" episode where you and Little Kuriboh play a children's card game. Guess that wouldn't happen here even if you go since I'm sure you're both booked but just tossing the idea out there.
On HOPR: I guess the reason people ask is due to how much they love the series. I'm defintley one of them but I can understand how it can be time consuming. I also think it's rather jerk for people to continue asking though especially since you're the ONLY one on TGWTG who has done three straight year of actual updates to your show without fail. No one else can say that and it shows just how focused and dedicated you are to your craft. And how people should understand that and let you do other projects at a more approchable leisure.
Jeez, people are still pestering you about HOTPR videos? They come out when they come out and are a fun treat when they do. Why would someone wan to make it more?
ReplyDeleteIt is cool that you have started Mystic Force, I have never watched it, so I can say nothing about its quality, but boy do I like those capes!
Oh boy, these next two month looks great! You sure seem to love Halloween, and it always makes for such a fun month. I cannot wait to see how this Entity thing ends! I also look forward to Secret origins. There are bound to be some great jokes with the weird starts that Wonder Woman and Green Lantern had. They may be weird, but who can resist the greatness of Golden Age Comics!
Don't that guy bug you, Linkara. It comes with the territory and it's pointless to try and tell people not to make such posts. They damn well know what they're doing. Same thing with the HOPR videos...dedicating 5 minutes to telling people not to do something they'll probably do anyway is pointless and ruins the video for the 95% of people who NEVER pester you.
ReplyDeleteThis is just how the internet age works, you gotta let this stuff slide off your back. Looking at it in a positive way, such posts are a testament to how much people love your videos. You have a good nature, as you said, and I understand we all have things that get under our skin but don't let it get to you. It's just one of those things that goes with any kind of fandom (Hell, Doug puts his annoyances with fans in the videos and turns it into comedy gold.)
I loved that not-too-suttle tone shift from Voice of Hell to the opening music riff from your intro song!
ReplyDeleteHow many Silent Hill comics did they make that suck!?
It's been a crappy, rainy day on the East Coast, and this trailer made it all better. I am a HUGE Silent Hill fan and am so thrilled to see these reviews, not only to see the end (hopefully) of awful Silent Hill comics but also to see what you have planned re: storylines.
ReplyDeleteAlso: I love "Theme of Laura" more than words can say. Thanks for using it again!
Are there any more silent Hill comics or are you going to be forced to do something different October 2012?
ReplyDeleteÄ„͟͠r͏è ̨yÇ«̶͟u̵̕ ̡͠҉th̶̴͢Å—͠e͘à ͠te͟͜͝ǹi̕n͞g ̸̨͘ḿ͟e̷?̀
ReplyDeleteYes! With the 3rd anniversary, we reach the final Silent Hill stories...and the end of the Entity. This should be nightmarish...well that or more Clone Saga weirdness.
ReplyDeleteAnd interesting choices for Secret Origins month. weird you went with Alan Scott over Hal Jordan for the Lantern but probably it's because the Golden Age is weirder. And...yeah it's obvious others will mention it but November is also the birth of the Marvel Age, so giving FF#1 a once-over was an obvious choice. (probably expect "Incredible Hulk #1" next year likewise...since Amazing #15 has been done.
And I thought idiots got the lesson the last time about History of Power Rangers! Heh...it gets done when it is so they should know that by now.

"Are there any more silent Hill comics or are you going to be forced to do something different October 2012?"
ReplyDeleteThere are, but the rest aren't that bad and I in fact recommend "Silent Hill: Sinner's Reward." I still haven't read Silent Hill: Past Life in full, but the first issue was pretty good. As such, I'm thinking this will be the last year I review Silent Hill comics and close out the trilogy of Silent Hill reviews.
i can't wait for review of rpm in my mind it's a pretty good season minus some flaws the big one being the theme song.
ReplyDeleteActually, I would be very interested to hear what you have to say about Crossgen and the Ultraverse. Maybe you could do a 'Dead Companies Eaten By Marvel' month?
ReplyDeleteThe trailer looks great - epic and unnerving, in the best possible way.
ReplyDeleteI really love the way you've built up the (INCREDIBLY creepy) Entity story arc, getting the audience more closely involved by giving us clues to keep us guessing. I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out.
Hey Linkara, long time watcher first time poster on your blog.
ReplyDeleteUnlike most of the people on here, I won't bug you with the next HoPR since its not really my cup of tea and I never really got into watching them. However, I really wanted to post to share my excitment over the October 2011 trailer and the conclusion to The Entity story arc. I have been following it very closely and I am on pins and needles waiting to see what it all leads up to.
Also I can't wait to see what the secret review will be. My guess is that it has to do with something horror related since it falls closely to Halloween, but that is just my guess. Looking forward to what happens next! :D
YOU, sir, know how to make even the smallest of videos utterly terrifying. Or maybe that's just the state of ridiculous paranoia you've worked me into over this arc. Honestly, you'd think after EverymanHYBRID I'd have a little more fortitude (and I only mention EMH because after this arc I highly suspect you know of it).
ReplyDeleteRegardless, you are excellent and I am excited beyond words for October. I started following you sometime after the last Silent Hill review, so watching them as they come will be a first for me. Half of me dreads the suspense; the other half craves it. ^_^ Oh, and I hope your personal-life-stuff goes okay, whatever it is!
This trailer looks epic. I can't wait to see the finale to the Entity arc.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, I'm looking forward to another Secret Origins month as well as your take on Power Rangers SPD.
Incidentally, have you ever seen Toku Time on Reviewtopia?
"LINKARA, you have DELIBERATELY SCREWED OVER all of the NON-BIG TWO-ORIGINATED heroes for Secret Origins Month AGAIN! No Captain Marvel, no Red Circle heroes, no TMNT, not even any of the Heroic Publishing characters!"
ReplyDeleteLinkara's free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Secret Origins month was a look at the values dissonance between the origin of an iconic character/team and today's values and see whether or not there actually has been a great change in the times for said character and how they hold up. From what I remember from the reviews, three of them held up well with X-Men being the lone exception. Having read the trade containing the first 24 issues, I was relieved that their characterization marched on, especially Beast's. The boys becoming drooling jackanapes at the sight of Jean was unpleasant to see and for anyone else who's read those issues, you got the impression that Magneto always had his mouth open like he was bellowing. Even something as simple as "I'd like to send this package out" would come across as a demand.
But anyway, of course we're not getting origins on the Red Circle Heroes, if you haven't followed their history, you're not going to know or care how they came to be. And like Linkara said, TMNT is still in its infancy compared to the other characters.
Also, if you haven't been bored by my ramblings already, Linkara (and I do apologize if you have), I have a question if you don't mind me asking: though it may fall under the category I described above of being in the unknown, is Doom Patrol still in consideration for a possible future slot in Secret Origin Months to come or have you ruled it out?
Thanks for taking the time, hopefully my first post here doesn't grind anybody's gears.
"Also, if you haven't been bored by my ramblings already, Linkara (and I do apologize if you have), I have a question if you don't mind me asking: though it may fall under the category I described above of being in the unknown, is Doom Patrol still in consideration for a possible future slot in Secret Origin Months to come or have you ruled it out?"
ReplyDeleteNot out of the realm of possibility, though I try to look at the origins of characters I've looked at before on the show and I don't think we've had a single review yet that's featured the Doom Patrol.
"Demons run when a good man goes to war
ReplyDeleteNight will fall and drown the sun
When a good man goes to war
Friendship dies and true love lies
Night will fall and the dark will rise
When a good man goes to war
Demons run, but count the cost
The battle's won, but the child is lost..."
You will rise so high when facing the Entity, Linkara--and then fall farther than you ever have...And then rise again...only to fall again...rising...falling...rising...falling...you are getting sleepy...sleepy...;)
Rhyming Protoss Archon? Hehe, cant's wait to see how it 'ends'
ReplyDeleteBy the way, was there no Linkara + Spoony co-review this year?
"Not out of the realm of possibility, though I try to look at the origins of characters I've looked at before on the show and I don't think we've had a single review yet that's featured the Doom Patrol."
ReplyDeleteFair enough, though I guess it might be pushing it to ask if there will be a Doom Patrol review in the future.
Thanks for answering, though ^_^
Good god, there are STILL idiots that ask when you're doing another HoPR?
ReplyDeleteI didn't know the Entity Arc will end on Halloween. Please review World's Finest Comic 142 and 153, Preacher #59, Thrillkiller '62 and Men in Black (the Aircel version).
ReplyDeleteHi Linkara, Long time watcher first time poster. I really enjoyed this trailer and look forward to the new silent hill reviews although the trailer did scare me and made think you were actually retiring from AT4W.
ReplyDeleteOnly thing with HoPR that I was wondering is do you watch the current series are showing i.e. at this point Power Rangers Samurai, and make notes or are you planning to watch it again when it's all over?
"Not out of the realm of possibility, though I try to look at the origins of characters I've looked at before on the show and I don't think we've had a single review yet that's featured the Doom Patrol. "
ReplyDeleteWait? When has Alan Scott appeared on Atop the Fourth Wall?
"I didn't know the Entity Arc will end on Halloween. Please review World's Finest Comic 142 and 153, Preacher #59, Thrillkiller '62 and Men in Black (the Aircel version)."
ReplyDeleteWhy those?
Satan save us, more Silent Hill comics? Linkara, you must either be a masochist or EXTREMELY devoted to your fans.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the resolution of the Entity arc. This is actually the first of your story arcs I've3 followed and I gotta say, you're doing a good job of building up the Entity as something major.
October certainly looks awesome, and I'm looking forward to another Secret Origins Month. I take it there are plans beyond the Entity arc? I left off in the middle of the Lord Vyce arc, so in addition to various videos that I have yet to watch, I'll also be watching the storyline videos that I have missed, as well as catching up on HOPR, although I'm not sure about watching the Dino Thunder review and what will be after that, seeing how I didn't watch the show after Ninja Storm ended.
ReplyDeletePardon me if you've seen this suggested a lot, but I'd like to see your take on Civil War. Aside from causing One More Day to happen, it struck me as nonsensical and pretentious.
"Wait? When has Alan Scott appeared on Atop the Fourth Wall?"
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to recall that too and having re-watched JLA: Act Of God, Cry For Justice and the first part of Rise Of Arsenal recently, I don't remember seeing him in those (if he is, and I missed it, I retract this statement and I will wait for my dunce cap). Unless Linkara's using it as a means of showing how the Green Lantern concept had a way different origin than it does today.
Phantom Roxas said...
ReplyDelete"I'd like to see your take on Civil War. Aside from causing One More Day to happen, it struck me as nonsensical and pretentious."
He mentioned once on the forum that the reason he never did it was because a big part of why people hated it was political differences, so he didn't want to get into a minefield of conflicting political opinions by criticizing any of the actions of the Pro- or Anti-Reg heroes because he (or one segment of the readers) disagreed with them politically. But I would really like to see Civil War get ripped apart too!
Looks like it's going to be a ton of fun Linkara, both the silent hill story and the Secret Origins.
ReplyDeleteNext year I'd love to see you tackle Supergirl's silver-age origin, since that's the story that really got me into superhero comics I also think it's interesting from a storytelling perspective since really there's no big threat to fight her introduction is the story (I'm not that old but back then I got most of my comics from the flea market).
You really haven't had much featuring Supergirl other then Amazon's Attack and Angst for Justice, though.
Oh well I can't wait to see what o've got to say about Wonder Woman and Captain America's intro...
Are you going to be reviewing from the Wonder Woman Chronicles?
If this has been posted before, I apologize, but I have a theory that the surprise review is going to be Identity Crisis. My evidence:
ReplyDelete- It's long been a sour note whenever Linkara's brought it up (like in the latest That's All I'm Saying. I think it was the latest, or the one before that). Speaking of...
- The mention in said video that the review was expected sooner rather than later
- The identity of the Entity is unknown at this point, thus it is an identity crisis of its own, albeit not played in the usual manner.
- The story dealt with the deaths of certain loved ones from the heroic community. While it is unconfirmed that the missing people are dead/erased, it's similar and still possible that not everyone's coming back.
- The conclusion of the Vyce arc was a double review and with Idenity Crisis being as long as it is, you could certainly do quite a bit with a few videos in what is being touted as one of the most important events in the shows history. And you wouldn't do something like X-Men Origins: Emma Frost or Tank Girl: The Odyssey (ugh, why did I read that one. Worst thing I've ever read and I've read Cowboys And Aliens) in a special review.
However, that does lead to the evidence suggesting I am incorrect:
- It might be too long to do it "justice" over the course of a review spread across two or more videos, while handling the conclusion of the storyline
- The recent mention doesn't necessarily say it's an immediate review and I doubt Linkara would tip his hand so soon.
If I'm right about any of this (and I doubt I am), that's a lucky guess. If I'm wrong, may the DC universe "relaunch" me as someone slightly smarter
But hey, if it generates conversation, it's not entirely a waste of time. So, what does everyone else think?
"Is there anybody out there?"
ReplyDeletePink Floyd Much? X-D Since I've got to see Roger Waters' The Wall Live this spring and it was epic and scary!
Still, brill trailer btw. :-)
"There was a HOLE here.
ReplyDeleteIt's gone now."
That was one of the more unsettling parts of Silent Hill 2, in my opinion - happens just before things start getting really crazy and contributes to the paranoia you're already feeling. I'm so glad you used it for this trailer! Gave me the shivers, honestly.
As a huge Silent Hill, Entity storyline, and Linkara fan, I can't wait for October! Keep up the good work man, I can't wait to see how it all concludes.
"Why those?"
ReplyDeleteThrillkiller 62 has Sean Connery and is set in 1962. World's Finest Comics has Composite Superman and Batman's infamous lines that evolves into internet meme. If I'm not mistaken, in the movie M.I.B., they use high-tech weapons to beat extraterrestrial criminals. Judging by its cover, he uses a shotgun. Preacher 59 has the most ridiculous line ever. Trust me.
Jeremy, please be quiet if you have nothing to contribute.

I like you, I'll kill you last. Thanks for the suggestions and I'll try to keep on eye out (though I fear reviewing any of Preacher - Garth Ennis fans may maim me).

Thank you for giving us periodic updates on your Power Ranger watching; it helps us get a grasp of where you're at knowing that you're done with season X and so many episodes into season Y. That way we know that you haven't been ran over by a train/locked up in a Swedish prison/had your body taken over by a pod person/etc. and are still chugging along with the project. :-)
ReplyDeleteAwesome trailer, I know this is gonna be awesome! And I hope you can sort out your personal issues. ( Gives you a hug).
ReplyDeleteI am one of the lucky few who doesn't badger you on HoPR updates. I've seen all except RPM and Samurai because I was focused on watching Kamen Rider and Godzilla movies. I suggest reviewing Deathmate (crossover Image Comics) with characters from Void and Wild C.A.T.S. It is worse than Cheetahmen but not as bad as Youngblood and WWE Heroes.
ReplyDeletefor those that don't know, if you copy and paste the blank spaces in the Anonymous comments that seem to be coming from "the Entity" into a Word document, get rid of all the blank spaces (they came up as question marks on mine) they do spell out things. The one from Mediafire above spells out "WoNtYoUcOmEjOiNuS" amidst all the other chaotic randomness. Just a tip!
ReplyDeleteWait, how are you in your old house, i thought Phelous blew it up?
ReplyDeleteGreat trailer. Looking forward to the finale of the Entity Saga.
Hm, you've got some very cool stuff coming up, that's for sure. I feel for you in regards to the HotPR, dude.
ReplyDeleteYou lack of Captain Marvel in Secret Origins month distresses me. It's pure gold, rife with riff-able moments from page 1 on.
'Course, I'm biased, with the Big Red Cheese being one of my fave heroes and all. Heck, maybe I should get off my lazy butt and do it. :/
Careful Lewis, you might give away the ending & tell all the good jokes before anyone even sees it. Heheheh.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I enjoy you tearing Silent Hill comics apart I'm kind of glad this October will be the last, just because it'll be interesting to see what you come up with next year.
ReplyDeleteAnother question do you take donated comics that aren't exactly in mint condition? If so I could send you a copy of Secret Weapons #1 that would probably make the cut for at4w. It has a lot of nonsense and little explanation for a first issue even if the art work is pretty down to earth by early '90s standards.
Say, I just realized, how are you going to review all of "Planet of the Symbiotes" in one show? It's five parts, all double-sized, after all.
ReplyDelete(It's not too bad a storyline in my book, though certainly viable for your reviewing. It marked Venom creator David Micheline's final story with the character, and featured a status quo change of Eddie and his suit merging fully that lasted all of that one issue before the Venom series-of-mini-series acted like nothing special happened and had him and the suit getting de-bonded casually)
I would LOVE to see you at Youmacon again. The TGWTG panel was was the highlight of my time there in 2009. I was really disappointed you didn't go again last year.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is gone..... Damn I love that. Did yo write that poem or did you find it in some obscure book cause I can't find where it came from. If you wrote it than damn you are a badass poet. Even if you did you've made my month by putting that in the trailer. As for HOPR don't worry about the winers. I'm been rewatching the series for 11 seasons have just hit SPD after having to take a month break after NS. Watching seasons (especially since you are reviewing them which means a double viewing I'm guessing means it takes a ton of time and I for one appreciate the effor you put into it. Take your time and enjoy yourself. Can't wait for Secret Origins Month and Octobers SH and other stuff. Thank you for your time and effort into such great shows.

I would count as worse, because the Deathmate crossover started the decline of Valiant comics. Hell, Liefeld procrastinated so much, then Valiant Comics CEO Jim Shooter tooka plane trip to the city Rob lived in, went to the guy's house and demanded he finish the lineart for it, and inked the damn thing in his hotel room. Don't fuck with Jim Shooter, if you owe him art, he will hunt you down.
Awesome! I love Alan Scott. I wish The Justice Society of America was part of the New 52. Odds are that this time it was founded by a secret government organization.
ReplyDeleteIf you REALLY want to hear Lewis talk about Power Rangers, you can check out that podcast he was on ;)

My guess for the secret review:
ReplyDeleteThe Bloodstone limited series (debut of Elsa). I almost hope I'm wrong, but it seems like a perfect fit for Halloween.
Here's my suggestion although I would predict your secret Episode #150 but never actually happened:
ReplyDeleteMy Little Pony #7 (Jack Kirby version)
If you think your review on Care Bears is bad but not 100%, that mentioned above is even worse. Long story short, it's a nightmare.
Take a look at this cover if you don't believe me:

How much did you pay the Great Intelligence for him to let you use his Whisper Men for your trailer ?
