Great how the production values keep going up and all but well I think this might really be the last one in this attempt at continuity considering beyond the points I'm seeing in these previews there appears to be a shark tank and motorcycle ramps.
Too bad its also likely to be the final use of Turl unless you let Spoony back in for more Channel Awesomeness.
So um any ideas on how long after the release before its available on DVD? And are all those movie one liners really incorporated into the script?
HOW COME NONE OF THESE TRAILERS SHOWCASE MECHAKARA? I know he's in the movie, so why isn't Nostalgia Critic giving us a reason to get excited about him. I'm sorry, but the return of Mechakara overshadows EVERYTHING in this movie.
Wow this really got me hyped for the movie next week. I can´t wait to see this.
What bugs me though is the comment section on Thatguy. Why do so many people think this would be the end to the NC or even Channel Awesome? There´s no indication outside of videos where Doug is in character that he or any other reviewer is going to quit. I mean if Doug (or any other reviewer) really wanted to take a serious break from his stuff he would definitly post an explanation video and not an anniversary movie.
"Great how the production values keep going up and all but well I think this might really be the last one in this attempt at continuity considering beyond the points I'm seeing in these previews there appears to be a shark tank and motorcycle ramps."
Well, they did say that this would be the last anniversary special to this scale... While there will be more, they won't be nearly this huge.
"Oh dear me. More ego driven fan wanking bull shit."
Oh dear me. A post from some moron who thinks an independent story based on characters in our review shows is somehow "ego driven." And as for fan-wanking, well golly-gee-whiz - how dare an anniversary celebration of the website appeal to its fans.
On that note, hello and welcome to the blog for Atop the Fourth Wall. This isn't Spoony's comments section, nor is it the Cinema Snob's website or even TGWTG.com itself. I moderate ALL comments to ensure I read everything fans say, since I feel getting and reading fan response is important.
However, I don't tolerate pieces of crap comments like yours for very long. If I don't feel like letting your comment through, it isn't going to happen. You want to have a dissenting opinion and not like a video? Fine, you can even express that, but you'd better be damn ready to back it up or just have the decency to say, "Sorry to say I'm not enjoying this, but oh well, life moves on," because if you try to post any more crap like this one, you won't find anything else you want to post up for very long.
Sorry linkara. I just sort of was not fond of the the over dramatic tone of the trailer. Not that I'm saying it was over dramatic. Well in my opinion it was but I think oh shit can I start agian?
"Too bad its also likely to be the final use of Turl unless you let Spoony back in for more Channel Awesomeness."
Well, James Rolfe has appeared in the last three anniversary videos, and he has never been a part of Channel Awesome. Hence, they could have Noah in future videos.
Now, given the shit that went down on Twitter, it's at best questionable whether they would, but the possibility remain open. That said, Linkara knows a lot more than me or you about such matters.
Initially I was hesitant to watch this because I kind of wanted to keep my distance from this so I'm not judging what is supposed to be a fun (not so little anymore...) project and be one of THOSE guys. But considering the last NC, I figured why not.
I will say to argue with those people saying all the specials were faux-finales, I say you're wrong because I NEVER thought for a second that they were series finales, the Epic Battle heck no, if anything it was the big debut for the idea of crossovers and stuff. Kickassia to me was the first true big project and it ...was just a barrel of fun, that's all it was meant to be. Suburban Knights isssss hit and miss, I'm one fo the people who preferred kickassia because it wasn't trying to be serious or really tell a story, it was a Loony Tunes sketch and considering he inspiration for NC being Daffy Duck..makes sense! That and the star power of the actual president or whatever of that tiny tiny country, that was cool, Suburban just any other park (or series of parks) with a permit to film there, but I still enjoyed it, wasn't my favorite flavor, but it was good! so A- lol. Plus interestingly, I still remember (based on memories of watching it the ONE time) Linkara in the commentary seemed to be the only one willing to critique the movie while almost everyone else attempted to defend or brush it aside, I think that's where people are thinking these are just "ego wanking" or whatever, just food for thought there.
Over all if NC is indeed signed to a contract and this isn't the finale, I'll be a little disappointed cause South Park pulled this same stunt, and it was debunked cuz of a contract with Comedy... ontop of the fact they still loved making the show and the episode didnt reflect their actual feelings at all, that's what I'm comparing this too. It just kind of urks me when entertainment plays with your emotions only for it to be a fake-out, not because I fall for it but just because... its fake, ya know? But it looks like alot of work was put into this so, I gotta applaud that, and this time around I'm going to recongize more faces, so that's something! But meh I like the CG House
A lot of people tend to be extremely critical about these anniversary movies. I just enjoy them for what they are - light hearted, silly fun. Yes, a lot of hard, hard work goes into making them, but I don't look at them thinking they're meant to be some brilliant masterpeice of cinema. It's fun jokey stuff that makes me laugh, and I find everyone involved with it to be highly enjoyable. This movie seems like more of the same, and I have no problems with that.
People have a right to voice their opinions, but neither Lewis or anyone else involved with this need immature, disrespectful comments thrown at them. If you don't like it, you don't like it. That's fine. Just treat people with respect, and be considerate with your statements.
I do have to ask if they is the last time you guys are doing an anniversary special?
I get why, more money and time then it would seem to be worth with this coming well over a year after Knights so if you did make another it would be out in 2014 if everything is done right.
I do hope this one doesn't have as much editing hiccups and if it is like Knights and comes off more as a movie then an 8 episode series then I hope you guys keep to the rule of 3 in the joke department too.
"Now, given the shit that went down on Twitter, it's at best questionable whether they would, but the possibility remain open. That said, Linkara knows a lot more than me or you about such matters."
There isn't anything forbidding us from having Spoony appear in the future. ^_^
hey Linkara, incase you need to use more star trek music there's a guy on youtube that has posted almost all the music from the both the Tv show and the movies here is his channal.
"in case you need to use more star trek music there's a guy on youtube that has posted almost all the music from the both the Tv show and the movies"
Almost all of it has been released, and either LA-LA Land Records or Intrada has just announced a 15-CD box set of the Original Series music. So there's no need to pirate.
(However, Linkara, if that's the route you choose, and you insist... contact me. I plan to get it.)
"HOW COME NONE OF THESE TRAILERS SHOWCASE MECHAKARA? I know he's in the movie, so why isn't Nostalgia Critic giving us a reason to get excited about him. I'm sorry, but the return of Mechakara overshadows EVERYTHING in this movie."
As excited as I am for Mechakara's return, I think the fact that he could overshadow everything in the movie is exactly why he's not been focused on. This movie has been built up as a story centered around the Nostalgia Critic, and his enemies are going to be Turl and Zodd. Highlighting Mechakara would be diverting attention to Linkara when we're supposed to see the NC as a main character.
If anything, it seems like To Boldly Flee will have a Big Bad Ensemble, similar to how Suburban Knights had the Jaffers and his obstacles as well as Malechite, and considering how Malechite's Hand ended up being the antithesis of Ma-Ti's ring, the something similar will happen between Mechakara and Linkara.
Besides, isn't there a typical complaint when trailers use the best parts of the movie? They shouldn't use up all of the Mechakara clips, and there are other things they want to set up, like the love triangle between Lupa, Todd, and NChick.
And now I feel like a gigantic nerd for going into such details about this. I'm looking forward to this, and I'm glad that the story arc Linkara desired in Suburban Knights will be here. The fact that it's in eight parts allows plenty of time to develop the multiple threads in the film, but that all depends on how long each part ends up being.
You know, the Critic did an episode on the Scooby-Doo movie and given the introduction, I wonder if his depression and self-loathing will increase as To Boldly Flee approaches.

Whereas I wonder if the odd parody choice he made will tie in to it.

ReplyDeleteHuh? Spotted him easily at 1.26 and 1.50.
ReplyDeleteWHY IS IT ONLY AUGUST 16TH?!??!!?!!?

I can't wait! But I must admit this has perfect timing. This will be a great way to end my summer vacation before going back to college in September.
ReplyDeletePlus Zod is finally back! I've missed videos with Zod.
Holy fuck... I can wait for this...it's going to be fucking epic

Also good lord is this gona be messy with linkara universe Todd Universe and Spoony Verse all crashing together in a startreck semi starwars universe.
ReplyDeleteSee they joke about the fan's hating them but all of the above spells masochist
PS am I alone thinking given the recent spoony controversy this is kinda Surreal.
