You know this lamp would look great in my bedroom between my bed and my DVD collection. If only I could reach up to find the switch when I wake up in the morning.
Still, that lam(sizzles)akeup looks excellent on the Frank character. Sure the rest of the movie doesn't live up to standards, but it's the little things that count.
Sure I would blame the success of the Ham(sizzles)etter find my local Target and buy it today. Thanks man!
Hmmm, I suppose it would have been hard to make reviewing a lamp entertaining, but given the caliber of the movie shown here, I wonder whether killing part of the day looking at a lamp wouldn't have been more worthwhile. If aything, the lamp's effects would have been better.
Damn you Linky! I... I couldn't get the whole opinion on that lamp so bought it and am having it shipped to the UK anyway :'O. It'd better be good!
Found the review interesting. I didn't realise that Frankenstein was such a big thing for exploitation cinemar, but there ya go. Was the film footage shot in black and white? Because despite that, I thought the film looked better than it had any right to (by early 70s B movie standards of course).
Sorry to be mean about your appearance tho, but your alternate universe counterpart is sexier than you. There's just something about that guy...
So we've had a reality where spoony became linkara, a robot version of linkara bent on killing him, a mirror universe version of him who was evil, and now we have snobkara. Are we gonna see a Nostalgia Critara? Or an Obscuruscara, or a phelouskara? LOL. I hope so, especially Obscuruscara. Great episode, Mr. Lovhaug.
That lamp looks remarkably like the one I have seen in a local shop for less th[FRIZZLE]arly a superior direction than this film. Why are you looking at me like that?
Any way, the movie clearly rips off the Salt vampire costume from the classic Star Trek episode "The Man Trap". Also: Is it just me or does Frank look like [FRIZZLE] a good bargain.
This... is beautiful. Thank you so much. Though I am very disappointed that there wasn't enough lamps in this review. As a Lamp Snob, I am very partial to a common desk lamp, and I am disappointed you did not give that lamp its due. But in all seriousness, great review.
wow, i did NOT see that coming at all man. lol. not the best impression of cinema snob , but obviously an alternate universe where linkara took on the role of cinema snob.... does that mean that universe's version of cinema snob is a comic book nerd and reviewer?
.....why am i disappointed we did not hear anything about your lamp..... sad.
hahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahaha! OMG!!!!!! ok i almost fell out my chair laughing when you did a rip of the cinema snob. why? because you hit te nail right on the head as far as impersonation.Secondly holy crap the big reveal almost made my head explode with awesomeness. Now if you will excuse me im off to get Subway to continue watching the review!
This was the BIGGEST LAUGH OUT LOUD MOMENT EVER!!! I LOVED IT! Dead-on perfect Snob impersonation! You had the inflections right on the mark! I usually entirely avoid going online for April Fool's Day (can't trust anything posted online that day), but this was worth it all!
Hard to decide if you or Spoony did the better impression. Though, Spoony's is more akin to the earlier Snob episodes, but you TOP Spoony's effort by doing 80's Dan and Evil Ninja Bruce! That was killer!
Man, I really hope you and Brad get together to do that crossover sooner than later. Loved the last gag too with the bad paste-on goatee. LOL!
Man, this is turning into a really good April Fools day for me, in terms of comedy, anyway. I just loved the Cinema Snob impression. I also really was laughing out loud through most of it. Now I'm wondering if Brad Jones has a Linkara parody on his site for April Fools. If so, it would make a really cool followup to this.
Okay, that was evil. You set up our expectations, and then you pull the rug out from under us. What was the point of getting Cinema Snob to do a guest review anyways? We don't want to see Brad, we want to see you! Also, did anyone else notice that at some points it seemed like Brad was doing an impersonation of Linkara? It was a really good one too. Hey, maybe you should have a contest to see which reviewer can mimic your voice best Lewis!
DataSnake said... Could someone explain where the whole "Linkara reviews lamps" gag came from, please?
In "To Boldly Flee", one of the other TGWTG reviewers(I think he was Paul, I don't know what he reviews, thoughs), was asked a series of questions to see if he knew anything about Linkara. One of them was, "What do I review?" His response, "Uh...Lamps?" Then, Linkara hung up on him
during the last crossover movie thing (the one where nostalgia critic became the furby ghot of christmas wormholes) one of the reviewers was asking him for help with something only to reveal that he knew abslutly nothing about linkara XD ...or something like that, im sorta paraphrasing because i cannot remember the scene to well but basically linkara starts quizzing the guy and it ends up at this
Linkara: What do I review? Other guy: Uh....Lamps? Linkara: -_- *hangs up*
first off lol you got me Lewis nice April fools and awesome snob impression ha oh and last holy cybermat batman I saw the cybermats head behind Bruce haha EPIC
Hilarious review; definitely got the Snob down in your own way (though then again I don't know if he really has R.O.B on the show having never seen it...it's just a cocaine snorting Pollo I guess with 80s Guy a fusion of 90s Kid and Snowflame) The movie made no sense though the random usage of Julie Brown was funny...and the mention of "M" made me nearly sick thinking about it.
That's actually a pretty neat looking lamp, do you own it or did you borrow it?
Under 20 minutes? This is your shortest review in months.
I could look this up but I'm too lazy to...was there ever a Frankenstein meets Bruce Lee?
Ah army stock footage, America's first line of defense, and its ninth line of offense, right after our Civil War re-enactors.
Any particular reason why so many poet laurites were hired to write?
Wait that's the end...No! What about the lamp! Is the lamp worth the money?
You did the exact same thing a lot of people end up doing on April Fools...Made something awesome and just made the rest of us angry and demand you actually continue this, looks like in the end you pranked yourself and must live with a stream of lamp review requests...although there are worse things to review.
Also, now I'm interested in seeing the Cinema Snob, any recommendations for a good starting point?
"Also, now I'm interested in seeing the Cinema Snob, any recommendations for a good starting point?"
Pretty much anything that looks interesting to you. I say look for a title that seems familiar to you or is more mainstream and start from there (Sleepaway Camp, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Caligula, etc.)
Out of curiosity, did each producer write his own pastiche/review or did you trade scripts with one another ? Phelan and Noah's videos indicated that their episodes were made by them but I found the credits for Frankenlamp here less clear.
Well I must say this is a pretty sloppy lamp review.
Where are all the insightful details? Does this lamp stand well on carpet? What kind of light bulbs work best with it? Does it have the function to blow up minds? So many unanswered questions, and not even a "lamp history you don't care about but need to know in order to understand this" segment? Seems like Linkara is losing his enthusiasm for lamps, which is a real shame.
That snobish fellow stole this show completely, I'm afraid.
"Out of curiosity, did each producer write his own pastiche/review or did you trade scripts with one another ? Phelan and Noah's videos indicated that their episodes were made by them but I found the credits for Frankenlamp here less clear."
I wrote this one myself. ^^ The reason I linked to the Cinema Snob's site instead of the blog is because I felt that if it took place in that universe, they'd be directing it to the Snob's website.
Now I see why I saw this on the Cinema Snob web site before I got the RSS alert on it. I think it might have been better though had this April Fools been on a crappy movie that had a comic book or comic tie in like at least same title if no other real relation.
Too bad you couldn't have also slipped in a Brad Tries moment.
Imagine it, Lewis tries Gagh, Genuine Klingon Serpent Worms! Now with actual lifelike motion!
Two things, one I really want that lamp now. Linkara, do you recommend it in all seriousness? And two, Brad is looking slightly thicker, good for him, he was too thin.
Just wanted to say you did a spot on impression of Brad's characters. So much so he probably could have made this an actual Cinema Snob episode. Either way it was nice to be able to laugh my ass off despite my recent layoff. So thanks for cheering me up Louis.
LOL I almost didn't watch this video because I'm very VERY sick of these lamp jokes ,but I laughed as soon as the Cinema Snob parody started! Also, it would be very hilarous if that actor was the same guy as the New York politican. Trust me, if he ran for president he will lose because of this movie!:D
Not that it matters since they could have called it "la celulara" and given the quality of the rest of the movie, I would have shrugged and went "Sure! why not!?".
This was a sweet idea in line with Dr. Insano/Linksano. Can you do this again, either as the Snob or another reviewer on the site? I think the Linkstalgia Critic would make for an interesting episode. I just wish there had been a cameo from Brad as Bradkara or something.
Because I wanted to write a proper comment too - I really enjoyed the video. Your Cinema Snob impression is - unsurprisingly to me at this point :) - glorius!
On a serious note I gotta know. Does that lamp only exist in Minnesota's Target or do all Targets in U.S. and Canada Have it? It's actually a pretty decent lamp. My reason for asking is because Target and Wal Mart just purchased some of my home town's mall.
It took me until today to actually watch this, the reason being that I actually expected it to be about you doing the same lamp-reviewing routine for 19 minutes! If not for the TGWTG site clearing up what the review was REALLY about, I would have missed it altogether. Guess the April Fool's joke, in the end, was on you, eh, Link? ;)
But anyway: I actually liked this, and I hardly ever check out The Cinema Snob. However, as I've said before, you're both a great writer AND actor, and you made the review/parody very enjoyable. Plus, I'd never even heard of this movie- much less the fact that it took place in Puerto Rico (where I live!) It was cool to watch the scenes filmed here in the 60's. And the movie itself was pure cornball. Just the look on the actor's faces (especially The Queen) made me laugh. Good show, Thank You.
Okay, I thought I knew what I was getting into... and then i had to pause the video cause I couln't even get past the opening line beforeIi started laughing and couldn't stop. Bravo, Linkara, Bravo.
Okay, Linkara, I know you pretty much just review the bad stuff but for the love of God, how can you not at least make ONE episode paying tribute to (arguably) the best and most influential in the industry? Tiffany & Co. DESERVES at least one episode. I refuse to believe that even you are arrogant enough to ignore, in the least, the objective success of their products.

Hey. Brad's hair is looking thicker. Good for him. :)
I know this has nothing to do with the review, but would it surprise anyone if they made a movie called.
"Frankenstein visits the Lamp Factory."
Either "Schwein Stucker" is a mispronunciation of "Schwanz Stucker" or "alternate Lewis as Cinema Snob" didn't want to use the word cock. :P
Well at least you didn't run out of sharpie.
Hmmm, I suppose it would have been hard to make reviewing a lamp entertaining, but given the caliber of the movie shown here, I wonder whether killing part of the day looking at a lamp wouldn't have been more worthwhile. If aything, the lamp's effects would have been better.
Nice Snob costume, by the way.
I just want to say, good choice on the pen-stache. it made me laugh out loud.
Just wanted to say that I love how you worked in an "I AM A MAYUN!" joke even when talking about a lamp!
Damn you Linky! I... I couldn't get the whole opinion on that lamp so bought it and am having it shipped to the UK anyway :'O. It'd better be good!

LOL. I hope so, especially Obscuruscara. Great episode, Mr. Lovhaug.
Linkara you are figgin brilliant!
LoL!
I actually waited for CS to review this movie, but your review was awesome!
Only thing I'd expect from Brad was to mention that the monster on the title shadow outline looks like Thrumpy.
More Lamps Plz!
Wow never saw that coming. Best birthday ever.
April Fools Day should totally be renamed Impersonate Brad Jones Day.
What? Is there something stuck on my face?
Hey! I wanted to see the Lamp review!
To be fair, you do make a pretty good replacement Cinema Snob.
Those aliens are obviously the Eldar
That plot of aliens stealing women as breeding stock kinda reminds me of a certain hentai I saw a while back...
Well, anyway
Have a merry Easter and a Happy April 1st
This... is beautiful. Thank you so much. Though I am very disappointed that there wasn't enough lamps in this review. As a Lamp Snob, I am very partial to a common desk lamp, and I am disappointed you did not give that lamp its due. But in all seriousness, great review.
I really hoped we would get a sentence of summary coming back to the lamp. Anyway, you made my day :D
The head elf sort of looks like Jeff Goldblum.
1. I'm shocked that there were no Duke Nukem jokes.
2. Is it a good lamp or not?
3. Those pieces of fuzzy duct tape cost you $16.00!
SPOILERS!!!!!!!
Is it wrong that I actually WANTED an episode of ATLB??? ;)
Ok, next con you both are at, you need a Noah vs. Lewis "Cinema Snob" competition. Judged of course by Brad.
I was very hesitant about the lamp, but after your review, I am convinced. I must have it the moment I leave college and get my own apartment.
Good one linkara but I do got to say spoony did it first. :)
wow, i did NOT see that coming at all man. lol. not the best impression of cinema snob , but obviously an alternate universe where linkara took on the role of cinema snob.... does that mean that universe's version of cinema snob is a comic book nerd and reviewer?
.....why am i disappointed we did not hear anything about your lamp..... sad.
I was never into lamps before watching your show, but now I'm starting to get into them now, thanks Linkara!
Linkinima Snob rules! Linima snob, Cinimakara Snob? Usually I hate the internet durring April 1st, but you made my day with this vid.
But... but.... Now I'll never know if that lamp from Target is a good deal or not!
*runs off crying*
You make a pretty good cinema snob... I don't know what I was really expecting from this video but it wasn't that. Well played!
hahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahaha!
OMG!!!!!! ok i almost fell out my chair laughing when you did a rip of the cinema snob. why? because you hit te nail right on the head as far as impersonation.Secondly holy crap the big reveal almost made my head explode with awesomeness. ...Yeah, that's a horrible movie and all, but what about the lamp?

"Welcome to Atop the Light Bulb, where bad lights burn out.
Linkara's going to show you all, what happens when the lights go out.
Torchlight, you're not the brightest. Halogen, you're so defiant.
Anyone who's ever had a bulb burn out on them, it could be your turn!"
Damn, I was looking forward to that lamp review...
Linkara, you forgot to mention where I can buy the lamp. Also, that cinemasnob commercial was way too long.
The funny thing is that "telefono" IS Spanish for "telephone," just with an accent on the second E.
Also, it would be "la telefono" rather than "el telefono," as the word is feminine.
Man, this is turning into a really good April Fools day for me, in terms of comedy, anyway. I just loved the Cinema Snob impression. I also really was laughing out loud through most of it. "He is an android but I AM A MAN!!"
"Why in the hell did I say that?"
XD
1). Dredd vs. Frankenstein would be AWESOME.
2). You reviewed the lamp but here is a better question: Do you love it?
If I go at Brad Jones's site, would I see a comic book review?
Could someone explain where the whole "Linkara reviews lamps" gag came from, please?

Ok I know the plan was for To Boldly Flee to be the end of movie events but come on someone pitch to Doug
Frankenstein vs The Suburban Knights
Data Snake--it came from here:
http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/teamt/sadpanda/forget-about-it/34915-forget-about-it-top-10-tgwtg-reviewers
Linkara's number 10, and also you get to hear the theme song for ATLB. :)
@datasnake

More callbacks to the Cinema Snob than Cinema Snob's 200th review.
As I recall Sad Panda started the whole Linkara reviewer of lamps.
Also great april fools joke!
Honestly, Lewis, it's like you're encouraging the lampshippers on purpose. Shameless. -shaking head-
@Datasnake: I believe the source is one of SadPanda's Forget About Its, actually.
95/100 for not using Space Lancer Steve.

I....need a cigarette.
I think you'd look good with facial hair.
I have the same lamp it sucks it has duct tape at the bottom because it won't stand correctly
On a serious note I gotta know. Does that lamp only exist in Minnesota's Target or do all Targets in U.S. and Canada Have it? It's actually a pretty decent lamp. My reason for asking is because Target and Wal Mart just purchased some of my home town's mall.

Ooooh this was so much fun. Who knew Target had lamps that versatile for 20 bucks.
Loved the mention of the original original Frankenstein production.
Okay, I thought I knew what I was getting into... and then i had to pause the video cause I couln't even get past the opening line beforeIi started laughing and couldn't stop.
Bravo, Linkara, Bravo.
K, I'll go watch the acutal video now.
What about Frankenstein Meets the Daughter of Evil?
Wow I think I'm the only one here who's ever even heard of Vocaloid.
Okay, Linkara, I know you pretty much just review the bad stuff but for the love of God, how can you not at least make ONE episode paying tribute to (arguably) the best and most influential in the industry?
