  1. I enjoyed watching the anime when it was on demand.

Hopefully when I get the chance I'll get the manga from my store in a timely manner. >.>

  3. Yaaay! Ever since you started this series, I've been hoping you'd talk about this manga (especially since I remembered you saying that it's one of the few manga that you read). This is one of my absolute favorite manga, and after I did a clean out of my collection this was one of the first to remain. It's such a shame that it's out of print, I really hope that another publisher like Viz or something picks it up so it doesn't just become harder and harder to find. Thank you so much for spotlighting it on your show ^_^

  5. It's too bad that there isn't a "like" button here because I would surely be clicking it right now.

Pet Shop of Horrors is a pretty good series overall that has stories that can either disturbing, heartwarming, or both. The sequel series however... is kind of so-so.

  6. I've heard of this one, from what I've seen today, it's pretty groovy. And I didn't think this particular pet shop would have Gizmo.

Wonder if it's next door to the Littlest Pet Shop. LOL

  7. "And is it just me, or does the lizard actually look like Sailor Moon?"
It's not just you. And why do all the animals look like humans?

  11. OMG, I love this series! It does look very typical of 90s shoujo manga, but the writing is solid. It's one of the few horror anthology manga that worked as both a continuing story and as individual stories. It kills me that this is out of print, and was well out of print even before Tokyopop crashed and burned. There's a direct sequel series, but it's not as good and was left unfinished with the end of Tokyopop.

Anonymous: It's been a while since I've read it, but from what you can infer in the series, it's part of the powers of both D and his creatures. To skeptics (like Orcot) and outsiders, they just look like animals. To the innocent or easily decived, they look like humans, and it's often determined by the reason the animal is purchase. It's something you learn to roll with as you read it.

  12. What accent is Moarte supposed to have again? Because he sure can't pronounce "Dreizehn" properly. Especially not the German "z", which is basically a "ts" or "dz" sound. :D

  14. At first I thought we already saw this in the Longbox but then I realized you'd simply mentioned it when you spoke about manga for your 'top 15 comics I'll never review'.

Yes, I re-watch your stuff a lot but I think it stuck out for me because I love this series.

The one with the guy who likes snakes is sort of beautifully tragic at the end.

My favorite from this volume though is the blind girl who gets the guard dog.

Also if anyone is curious, Pet Shop of Horrors: Tokyo takes place well AFTER Pet shop is done, without reading the end of the first series Tokyo is kind of... confusing, parts of it are anyway.

I was so hoping Moarte would do D's introduction when someone enters the shop, though his opening was still really cool.
