Glad to see you covering the Marvel Essentials collection, Moarte. I noticed there was a copy of Ghost Rider and Tomb of Dracula within the longbox during the opening credits. Any chance we will see Werewolf by Night in a future episode?
Anyone having problems with Blip at the moment? Ever since a couple days ago, I HAVE to activate Adblock because instead of showing ads, the player will just load indefinitely.
I first thought the newest Firefox update might have something to do with it, but the Internet Explorer has the same issue.
Wow, a zombie story that's not about the brain eating type! Impressive.
Besides, everyone knows the only way to stop that sort of zombie is to throw salt at it. That way, they remember they're dead and return to the grave. ;)
Brain-eating, plague-style zombies are actually a comparatively new thing (NotLD was 1968), for all their popularity and dominance in the contemporary mindscape. The term 'zombie' was banned by the Comics Code before Romero's sort of zombie ever existed. :) For those of you interested in the older variety, I recommend the classic films I Walked with a Zombie (directed by Val Lewton) and White Zombie (with Bela!).
This looks like a nice classic zombie tale with a dark, ironic tone similar to what I've heard about the EC comics of the 50s.
Nice that even though the guy was an asshole he still wouldn't let harm come to his daughter, even in death.
@Doresh-I've not been having that problem with blip, though it takes longer to load the videos and I never get an end ad anymore for most vids, even longer ones. I'm mostly on Chrome.
I know it's not typical, but have you ever thought of doing SNAFU's Grim Tales for the Long Box? I know you don't like to idea of criticizing people without official publishers, but Long Box isn't a hater review like the Fourth Wall. Really I kinda just want to see you do it as I'm in art history class and I'm just longing for the day when even a semi official critic takes a look at and recommends something by the every man as art, and it's not a weird looking toilet or a crucifix in a jar of urine. Besides, I would think the Long Box host would love to tell us about the most evil of all monsters, the ten-year-old girl who tamed the Grim Reaper and then took over the world! (Yes, I know Grim Tales is a spin off of Billy and Mandy, but they're so well known, I'm going to guess they're authorized. Doesn't that make them kind of official?)

Moarte seems to having two obsessions for the past few days. Zombies, and the word "however!" I hope we get into more vampires in the coming days.
ReplyDeleteyea Doresh I had that problem to. Any way a zombie story that is not a brain eating story. Impressive

Oh groovy, I got to get my hands on that story.

Before anybody asks the music in this video was the end music to Night of the Living Dead 1990.
ReplyDeleteThe problem seems to have gone now. The ads seem to take a second or two longer than usual to show up, but at least it's working now :D

ReplyDeleteSo in regards to the first story, it is about a man tries to take control of everything in life only to find himself controlled in death?
ReplyDeleteWell chosen, my good sir.
