Linkara Riffs: Scrooge (1935)

In this feature-length riff, Linkara and friends look at the first sound version of "A Christmas Carol!"

  2. Well, hellow to you too, That Guy With a Hat. What are you doing in Linkara's clothes?

That invicible man in the beginning plays only one role: to tell Scrooge about the Cristmass ghosts because... the Ghost of Future doesn't talk and cannot introduce itself as the Ghost of Cristmass Future. And we can't have that because viewers are morons.

Nice riff, but sometimes you guys are repeating the same joke over and over, and that gets old very quickly.

  4. A very funny riff of a rather lack-luster version of this great story.

Merry Christmas, Linkara, and may 2014 bring you much happiness. Thanks for all the laughs in 2013, and here's ready for more!

(Also, hurrah for MARVILLE finally ending! *Sends emergency gallons of moonshine*)

  5. After stuffing myself with Christmas Eve dinner and opening my presents, it feels good to sit down and watch a riffed version of a holiday classic. Very good job you guys did, and I hope you'll do it again every Christmas. There's another version of A Christmas Carol in the public domain, which is a half hour special hosted by Vincent Price. I'm sure you guys will find plenty more jokes to make while watching it. My favorite part of that special was when Marley's Ghost enters and exits through Scrooge's door like he's the Kool-Aid Man.
"Scrooge, I've come to haunt you! OH YEAH!"

I actually like this version a little better than the 1951 version. Alastair Sim doesn't work for me. I would watch this version along with some other versions of the Dickens story including the 1984 version with George C. Scott and (my personal favorite) the 2009 version starring Jim Carrey as Scrooge and the three ghosts. Though I like the 1938 version, Reginald Owen's old-man make-up looked distractingly weird.

  6. That was AWESOME.

The movie started so promising, though I can tell someone restored some of the sound by the severe lack of old school sound track crackle.

Was groovy to have Will and Amethyst there, made it even more fun.

    Thanks for sharing this.

Hope you, your crew, family and friends have a good holiday, Lewis, thanks for bringing the funny and puting up with comments about Schrodinger's cat.

  8. you know, for someone who gets upset over little girls getting offed in comics, you were pretty black-hearted during this whole thing

  9. I just got your first DVD for Christmas and I was very impressed by it. If you were to ever make another DVD, I think that 3 reviews should be the minimum. Also, I would love to see an original tale with a brand new plot and villain for you to fight that doesn't detract from the show like any of the Dragonball Z or One Piece movies.

Needless to say, I am very happy this Christmas.

P.S. If you can't think of new bonus features, might I suggest a music video for both of your theme songs.

  10. This would have been even better if your brother came in at the end dressed as the Ghost of Christmas Present.

  11. The comedy in this was great, and you guys had great tone to go with it; really great synchronization too. I also had a lot of fun listening to this while imagining it as being done by Nimue getting her Christmas wish to be human for a day, Jarvis going completely native, and Linkara letting out his inner (inner-inner) snark. Overall, very fun; thanks for the hard work put into this guys. :-)

  12. Strangely enough, Marvel made a comic called A Christmas Carol: Zombies. Those children in the window probably were zombies. You should take a look at it on either Longbox of the Damned or Atop the Fourth Wall, depending on your verdict.
