My problem with you guys doing another Ultimate Warrior comic for this year's crossover video is that there is ONLY ONE COMIC featuring the Ultimate Warrior left for you guys to review: 'WWF: Wait 'Til I Get My Hands On...', and even there he only appeared in ONE STORY in that book, fighting the Undertaker.
And you promised that you will review the Marvel WCW comic!
Hilarious! Spoony really should find a way to get more Iron Shiek cameos into his videos. But yes, very nice commentary. I enjoyed it a lot.
I actually met the Ultimate Warrior at the Chicago Comic Con in 1996 right after Warrior #1 came out. I got a free copy with the current issue of WWF Magazine at the time. I got his signature on that and a 8x10 full color publicity photo. He was late to the signing, but when he got there he said that everyone who had been waiting would get an autograph. So, with my own personal experience, he was a cool guy. Definitely larger in life than you perceive in TV.
But for the record, I never read the comic, and until recently, it's been stored in a box in the crawl space for the last several years.
"Remember back in October when Spoony released a weekly video on an actuall SCHEDULE?
Good times. Good times.
Seriously, Linkara is Spoony OKAY? His video updates have been really sparse, and I KNOW he's had medical issues. I just hope he's okay."
Well, a few things: one, Spoony has never kept to his schedule. Even when he posted up what he was going to be reviewing, he never really kept it weekly.
Secondly, he's fine. He's been posting up plenty of content on his site lately and is currently working on the Ultima IX video. Hell, he just released a review of a movie called Game Over and has been running his weekly Pathfinder sessions, which he also posts on his site.
WWF really tried to make Warrior relevant in 1996: They included him in the PlayStation/Saturn game 'WWF: In Your House', one of those goofy Mortal Kombat clones that flooded the market in the mid-1990s!

Just throwing this out there for you guys too- there is an Ultimate Warrior film.
ReplyDeleteIn case you didn't know about it, it's a 1993 Post-Apocalyptic Pit-Fighting Film featuring UW and Gary 'Fist of the North Star' Daniels.
It's pretty crappy and certainly easy to riff.
