Since I'm sure people will be asking my opinion on the major spoiler of Final Crisis #6, I'll just get this out of the way now. MAJOR SPOILERS behind the cut!
I've decided my expression of my opinion should be as cryptic as any Grant Morrison comic. As such, allow me to express my opinion about the death of Batman like so, and allow you all to interpret it as you wish.

Wait, I thought he died in his own comic line? I'm confused.
(Also, I didn't even know he was sick.)
He wasn't. Batman RIP ended up tying in to the other book Morrison was writing, Final Crisis, where he has now died after shooting Darkseid.
Yeah really! I mean.....wow! If I didn't see it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it either, but I agree with your little pic there, if I interpret it correctly
And here I'm doing my own "final crisis sucks" part of my blog and you're no help at all Lewis!
Wait a sec... I was wondering if 6 was going to clear anything up before the last issue. And you've just told me "Nope".
So thanks Lewis! For helping me save money.
Now will his epitaph say "Here lies the Goddamn Batman?"
So... Now they've killed off Batman, Captain America, and retconned Spider-Man's marriage... HAS THE COMIC BOOK INDUSTRY GONE INSANE?
He'll be back. They showed Booster Gold's charred corpse and he was alive and well by the end of 52.
Booster Gold is a time traveler, though. From what I remember, there was a weird time paradox thing going on (okay, maybe it wasn't ACTUALLY a paradox, but it's time travel/alternate realities in DC...how much sense does it make?).
Not as much a paradox as much as Rip Hunter grabbed Booster's real corpse from when he died in the future and substituted it with the then-living Booster.
