You'd think a comic about an alien cyborg woman trying to nuke Saturn's moon while a cosmic surfer, an armored war machine, and a man wielding norse weaponry try to stop her would be far less dull than this is.
Nice video, and a pretty spiffy new theme as well.
Pretty good conclusion with some nice twists. I like your new style, Linkara. Laughed hard when Phelous showed up :DBut I have to say, I kinda missed the old "Hello and Welcome"-line a little bit. Well, I guess I'll get used to it after some episodes.
Kickass opening, Linkara. You'd think they'd do an actual night backdrop when an event is taking place in our solar system. Can't wait for your next vid. Rock on! >_<
Don't worry - I'm not abandoning the "Hello and welcome, line." It's just sometimes the theme song will use the line instead of me whenever I'm doing a skit or something up front. ^_~
Thoughts:- First off, awfully early to post the video, Lewis. Looks like someone's excited about the new theme. ;)- Subversion of the "Previously On..." segment, well played.- Nice theme/intro. Really fits you. And it's damn catchy to boot. :)- Using a Michael Jackson song for the title card, then subsequently referencing MJ in the beginning. LOL.- On the cover of the comic, is it just me, or does it look like Silver Surfer's surfboard is coming out of his butt? - Holy jeeze, the art is even worse in this issue...seriously. The artist(s) went beyond the possible and somehow outcrapped themselves.- Love the new scrolling credits. And the theme that played over it.- Pardon the pun here: It's no 'Secret' here, these comics are just awful. No one even bother 'Defending' them. Another job well done, Lewis. I'm intrigued in hearing the other themes over the end-credits for the next while.
Not really feeling the theme song, but then again, I don't really see "Western cowboy ballad" when I think of your reviews.
it probably took alot more effort to do that skyscraper line than "im thunderstike baby". also you're a reveiwer of a media that includes god, monsters, and aleins and breathing thingy is what you call it. just playin
I got 2 more a: seeing that you have title cards was a nice surprise b: who drew it, it kinda looks like yours but idk either way not bad at all
Another great episode Linkara, I'm afriad to say I wasn't the greatest fan of the theme song, But I hope it will grow on me.I liked the stick with the 'Previously' And the art you had done for the review.I'm looking foward to more.P.S: Where does the 'You magnificent Bastard I read your book!' Come from?
Great review, and I really liked the song in the beginning and the end. And I didn't see that "previous"-bit coming, made me a good laugh! Also, good that you're not abandoning the "hello and welcome-" -line, because that's you right through :)
great review! hilarious! And the theme song is awesome! And after seeing that opening, I will always MAKE MINE LINKARA!
Excellent review. Much fun. I notice you went with the demo version of the theme. If anyone wants to hear a higher quality version of the opening theme, with cookie jar bongo and mouth harp, go to my soundclick: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=639758&songID=7716119Kudos to those who made the end theme, by the way. Very nice.
Those theme songs are great! By the way, Linkara, have you picked up any recent issues of Amazing Spider-man? I heard its pretty great despite being post-OMD and BND.
Yeah, Vincent, I decided to go with the original one because it had that grainier feel to it. Very gunslinger-esque, I thought. =3
I must say I really didn't like the new theme. It sounded really messy and I don't think it fitted the show personally.
I like that you varied the "previously..." shtick. I love it, but you gotta keep us on our toes. The new themesong is fantastic! Very well done video for it, too. Great pick! The review itself as a bit average this time, mostly because there wasn't a whole lot new in this one that we didn't mock in the previous vid. Still, I can't believe the comic was published looking like that. :P Keep up the good work. Looking forward to next time! And REALLY looking forward to when you take down Countdown.
"Technological finger bang." I laughed for a good minuet straight after you said that.
Is it wrong that I like more the closing theme?? Ahh well, the opening still kick ass!!
Nice theme song.I completely agree with you as to why these comics suck. Also, I didn't really feel that Thunderstrike really contributed to the story. He fought some Mooks and...that was it as far as I remember.
Liked the new theme song and funny review as always.Just curious, but do War Machine and Thunderstrike appear in any good comics? Also, considering I've never heard of either of them until now (though I think I may have glimpsed War Machine in the Iron Man cartoon, but I barely remember that one), how are they as superheroes?
I wasn't overly fond of the theme song choice at first, but after listening to it several times, it's grown on me. :)
Exellent opening theme, and really good show.
"The villain is stock" you just gave me this image of a bunch of second-rates like Darth Maul, the Surgeon General and a bag of twenty Klingons in a crate. I know that wasn't the intent, but after looking at some of these panels my mind was desperate for a reprieve. Keep up the good work, and my sympathies go out to you for having to go over some of this art a dozen times to get your visuals. Also, I liked the use of smooth criminal. It did seem like the woman had been trying for the most odd poses in one comic
I really do like the Gunslinger Theme Song - the song itself is appropriately cheesey and fun and unique, and I loved the inclusion of standardbearer's Linkara logo, and I loved the 'lip sync' for the last lines. Good times! Also, great opening! It was a great way of making the best out of a bad situation (or making up a fun bad situation), and Phelous was fantastic in it. These kinds of things make me wish you had a separate non-review show, but here's to pipe-dreaming. Also, do we have the Oh, small note - the deviantartist "makethecreater" is mispelled on the credits (or, rather, spelled correctly, but not the artist's way...). Couldn't find it, and I wanted to! (and did, after awhile). Also, Nagymarci has some awesome work. Just had to say.Love the focus on the stupid, stupid "skyscraper" line, the Kruck acting, and all the mocking of Nebula. And love the ending theme too! Good fun!
The ending of the comic was so anticlimactic. Just stick your finger in and boom - you saved the day...But anyway, the review is great.Oh and I kinda like the ending, better than the opening. But they're both kickass. The Jackson music in the title card reminded me more of Yankovich's "Fat"
Looks like the Fat Boys were successful, but what happened to the great strategist? Firing a gun? Oh yeah, that makes her to a real strategist. Good gawd, this suck indeed. Marvel sure knows how to ruin their character not only with a crappy story, but also with a painful bad artist. But hey, I really enjoyed how you just vaporized this comic with your critique. Great job, Linkara.
I can see why it was hard to pick the new theme if the opening and ending themes are indicative of the quality of the entries! Wow!I think the new opening fits really well with the kind of 'old skool showdown' feel and fun lyrics.Good review too. I still can't get over the awful art. It looks like Liefeld trying to draw like Mignola!
I don't like the quality of the theme song. Melody and the idea is nice, but the music takes too much away from the singing for instance. I'd prefer the other version which vincent E.L posted
Great once again. Only thing I could criticize is that the intro theme is little bit too lo-fi... but great song though :>
I didn't really like the opening theme, but did I finish mine? no...But I forgive you, you still count Pluto as a planet. ;)
Who did do the art for this comic? This is probably the worst art I've seen in a comic book.
Linkara, would you say that Nebula is the craziest bald chick in the Marvel universe, or does Moondragon hold that title for all eternity?
Hooray, another proponent of Plutonian planethood.(You mentioned it before in the Neutro review, but in that case, it seemed simply a joke; it didn't clarify your true opinion.) Now I have it say, that I actually feel that if one counts Pluto, one ought to count Eris as a planet, too. It's larger, if for no other reason. Sure, it ruins the title of the Doctor Who serial, "The Tenth Planet," introducer of both Cybermen and regeneration, but some sacrifices must be made.Re: The surfer moving from outside to inside so fast: It's the Power Cosmic. They don't have to explain it.So you and that fella Phelous exchanged cameos. Interesting. Maybe if you had let him work on that comic book review he asked about he wouldn't have abandoned you like that.Is this the end of the Last Time bits, or do you intend to do them again?Vigil: The "You magnificent. . . your book" line is Paton form the movie of the same name referring to the German general Rommel during an attack by Rommel's soldiers.
