Not sure if you guys are fans but the Black Sabbath shirt is from the tour for the Never Say Die album. Doubt that's a coincidence.

Only saw the intro right now and that was hilarious. I plan on just watching the movie first before watch your review and even Brad's midnight screening video. This should be a lot of fun.

You guys really had be going there at the beginning, I thought you were serious! XD

But yeah, I saw the movie last weekend (it opened early in Europe, apparently) and it was freaking amazing! ^^

Kenikki said...

I thought Captain America was good, Iron Man was great, Iron Man 2 sucked, The Incredible Hulk was alright, Thor was decent and The Avengers was fucking incredible.
It's the perfect summer blockbuster film.

I was getting real annoyed with your pal in this, Linkara. It seemed like every time you were going to say something, he'd interrupt and go on and on, usually about his man crush on the Hulk. Is it that hard to be courteous?

Well, first of all, he's my brother. Secondly, I thought he was fine.

That Dude From Jersey said...

To Linkara's brother,

YOU DON'T ASK THAT QUESTION! NOW THE SILENCE WILL FALL AND THE WORLD WILL END! Thanks for that.

Okay seriously great review, haven't seen it yet but stuff like this just gets me hyped up for when I do. Oh and SHAME on you two for that opening, you scared me out of at least 3 regenerations with that bit. Great job and keep it up.

Oh I do have one thing to ask, have you seen any of Blockbuster Buster's video's where he calls you out in character? Do you have any plans for a response or even a crossover episode?

manuman_knd said...

i was expecting for you to say something about they not shouting "Avengers Assemble".
About the carrier plothole. I don't think Loki would have gone intact out of the disaster if they destroyed the other one. And even if he did, i don't think he would have liked it, so he ordered to not do that.

So there IS a second stinger? i heard it was gonna be one in this release. sadly the one i watch didn't have it. But yeah, thanos appearence was just awesome. this is the kind of guys than, even if you heard a little about him(like i do) or even if you don't know who he is, you know he is something big.

manuman_knd said...

another thing is. I REALLY fell for it. i tought it was really good, and then you said that and i was "please don't tell me these is like the phantom menace, were people blindly liked it but actually was bad". and then, when you say it was a joke, i laughed HARD xD

I suddenly lost a lot of respect for you when the opening bit ended. I thought I was the only crazy one when I thought that The Avengers was only okay and not nearly as good as everyone makes it out to be. So when you started saying a negative review, I was thrilled and wanted to know how much our opinions compared or contrasted. That's when you dropped the ball and I was disappointed.

Call me a troll all you want, but that's my honest opinion.

TheAndySan said...

So should we call your brother Brokara?

I saw this one almost 4 hours ago by this point. This time it was packed. Some wore appropriate shirts, 4 were even in costume which mildly surprised me.

Fav. moments:

"... I'm listening."

"... He's adopted."

"oh, that's what it does."

Hulk 1, Thor 0, contender for the next one.

Loki vs Hulk, this one brought the house down.

Fiery Little One. :D

Spudly said...

By the way, great minds apparently think alike. You and Spoony both did that same opening gag of pretending the movie was a disaster.

Ryan said...

Ha ha, I was hoping the Mark 7 Iron man armor was going to be the Hulkbuster armor too!

Spudly said...

Regarding the 400 percent capacity, I'm going to offer a weak defense on that one. Often when an engineer builds for a capacity, they build for double that capacity or more just to be safe. Could be the battery is above the charge its rated for. Now I don't think he built a battery to hold four times the charge that he normally uses but it could be that the excess was temporarily stored in the ultra capacitors in his suit until he used it to attack Thor.

Soon as I saw the "Just kidding" part, I was thinking, "Son of a bitch, he got me!" You really had me going for a second there at the beginning.

Got back from seeing it a couple of hours ago and loved it. It's a near-perfect blockbuster that anyone can enjoy.

Anyone can see that Downey is the real star of the movie with every action scene he's in and every line is as memorable as everybody else's. However, everybody got into the spotlight very well. The performances of Thor, Captain America, and Black Widow are great for the same reasons as the other movies they were in. As for the Hulk, Ruffalo's Banner was more Bana than Norton for me, so it's a nice balance. Still, Bill Bixby's Banner from the classic TV series is the one performance I preferred the most.

I was actually more interested in what happened after the team seperated at the end of the movie than the two post-credits ending scenes. It may me think what would happen to them next in some of the future movies besides Avengers 2. When Stark drives off with Banner, it may me believe that maybe in Iron Man 3, he and the Hulk will team up to defeat the Mandarin. At least it might be better than having the Hulk in another solo movie considering the box office numbers of the previous two Hulk movies. Maybe in Captain America 2, Rogers will adapt to our modern era while trying to find out what happened to his girlfriend from the first film. Don't know if Red Skull should return considering his circumstances at the end of the first film, but maybe a different CA villain might be more worthwhile. But maybe in Thor 2, Red Skull might make an appearance while Thor and Loki tries to setlle their conflict. As for Black Widow and Hawkeye, I don't know! Other than that, that's just my two cents.

R said...

"Well, first of all, he's my brother"

That would explain it, pretty normal for brotherly discourse I guess. I'd just ask to keep in mind that your fans tune in to hear your thoughts on things and it can be frustrating to hear you start a thought and then have to wait to hear it completed.

Had it happened once or twice I wouldn't have mentioned it, but it was a bit taxing to try and scroll forward and backwards to see if you got to complete your thought.

JD said...

Great review, probably will see the movie tomorrow. But what made me laugh the hardest out of this whole thing was Linkara's brother asking him when his next Power Rangers review would be. Rock on.

Forgot to mention that Pepper Potts from Iron Man showed up.

I had a guy at my theatre in a full detail Deadpool costume. Now THAT would be a movie I'd like to see! (Team Wade!)

Bullet in the mouth scene is from the Banner mini series.

Also, the laser to shield combo was from Marvel Ultimate Alliance...

The 400% thing is from comics, and actually a weird Tony thing.

Tony's major defense to energy attacks is absorbing it. So he actually HAS redundant batteries specifically to deal with absorbed energy.

Since he can't keep this energy forever, Tony uses them for increased output, so he can burn the energy faster so he has space to absorb more. Weird, but it makes a WEIRD kind of sense.

As for Mjolnir, it's supposed to be only Thor can carry. The inscirption says "Whomsoever may hold this hammer, if he be worthy, will possess the power of Thor." So holding the hammer gives you Thor's power, and allows you to wield the hammer. Not ALL writers run it that way, but that's the generally gist of it.

The navigation officer NOT knowing East and West was pretty stupid.

Deadpool said...

Sorry about triple posting here, but posting as I watch.

I feel like the mindless, violent Hulk that attacked Black Widow for no reason was caused by the Scepter as part of Loki's plan. Even in the Hulk movie, Hulk usually attacks what CAUSES his anger, not just random everyone around him. In this case, Black Widow did nothing to anger Hulk and he still went after her. Felt like it was Loki's doing there.

Ant Man seems boring for a movie. Having Hank Pym as a scientist working for Stark in the Avengers tower.

Sorry I'm going a bit off-topic here, but are you going to do a video that would address DC's Second Wave that just started this month?

Dial H, Earth 2, G.I. Combat, and World's finest already got released, and more are on you'r way.

But I ESPECIALLY recommend Dial H!
Seriously! This comic needs as much promotion as it can get!
It had an awesome 1st issue, and is handled by a competent and very talented writer, and generally has the potential of becoming the second Animal Man, or even Sandman if given the chance to last that long!

However, since it is a part of the Second Wave, it did not get as much media attention as the New 52 got.
And this comic needs every reader it can get!
It's the most original and creative thing I've read in years!

here are some reviews

Red Hood and the Outlaws is awesome

some of the best written characters I've seen in a while, with tons of excellent emotional moments

Jason Todd reconciling with Tim Drake?
Starfire telling Jason to stop living in the past, and him humbly admitting she's right?
Roy Harper's flashback of Killer Crock of all people comforting him after he lost everything, and even helping him to overcome his addiction?
Jason's decision to stand at Batman's side and face the Court of Owls, even tho he could have just walked away without anyone noticing?

Those characters weren't written this well for years!
Plus, it's the first time any writer is introducing the idea of Jason actually trying to reconcile with his "family" , and even considering the idea of forgiving Batman

Also, the story-arc starting after the Night of Owls event will focus entirely on Starfire, and is going to take place on Tamaran, and will also feature Blackfire as a major character

Also, Starfire looks just like Kiva from Megas XLR on the covers of the upcoming issues

Yes, I'm highly protective of this title, and it's currently one of my most cherished series next to New Guardians, Wonder Woman, Batman, Batman and Robin, Animal Man, Frankenstein, Swamp Thing, and the new Dial H (which was love at first sight)

Now, just look at how distracted that one comment made me?
Completely forgot about the video's main point
Yeah, I'm definitely going to see it
I was kinda worried due to the involvement of JW (as my opinions of the man are really low, especially after hearing of his Wonder Woman script, now THAT was offensive), but it does seem to be one of his good works

Thannos is definitely a good villain for the sequel, but that also means we won't get any Darkside in case Man of Steel gets a sequel
(accusations of plagiarism from the uninformed masses and all that)

Speaking of Marvel movies, already heard of the plans to make a Guardians of the Galaxy movie with Rocket Raccoon as a main character?

Now that's something to look forward to (if done right)

Just a heads up:

Janet Van Dyne can grow as well as shrink. This is a constant of her character, as she has demonstrated this ability in 616, Ultimate, Marvel Adventures, and the "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" cartoon show. In fact, her codename in Marvel Adventures isn't even "Wasp", it's "Giant Girl".

I seriously don't see how a girl who can grow to the size of a skyscraper is "useless".

And Linkara, you are supposed to be a Marvel fan, so you should have known this and corrected your brother.

Personally, due to my love of giantesses, I really hope we see Janet Van Dyne in one of these Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, just so we can see a giantess heroine on the big screen.

Otherwise, great review!

Noooo, I'm actually a much bigger DC fan than a Marvel fan. The only Marvel book I currently buy is Deadpool.

"I thought Captain America was good, Iron Man was great, Iron Man 2 sucked, The Incredible Hulk was alright, Thor was decent and The Avengers was fucking incredible."

I also think "Iron Man 2" is the weakest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It didn't advance the overarching "Avengers" story arc beyond the presence of Black Widow, it didn't advance Tony's own story arc besides a VERY half-assed reenactment of "Demon in a Bottle", and it had too much talking and not enough action. The first movie could get away with that one because it was an origin story (and even then, "Thor" and "Captain America" were also origin stories, yet they had far more action than "Iron Man 2"), but this was a sequel, so it just doesn't work here. There are only two noteworthy action scenes: the fight with Whiplash during that race car thingie, and the final battle with both Whiplash and Justin Hammer's rmy of robots.

It just feels pointless, like they rushed in to make it because "The Avengers" HAD to come out in 2012, and "Thor"/"Captain America" HAD to come out in 2011, so it was 2010 and they had no Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. They should have just greenlit Edgar Wright's Ant-Man movie. That way, we would have actually had Janet Van Dyne in the Avengers.

The Exiled One said...

The REAL reason for the 400 % capacity bit is that the armor is powered by the arc reactor in Tony's chest. And the arc reactor is reverse-engineered from the Cosmic Cube, so it uses the same kind of energy. And since the Cosmic Cube comes from Asgard, Thor's lightning produces that kind of energy.

It's the same reason why Loki couldn't control Tony: because Loki's staff also uses that kind of energy, so the arc reactor in Tony's chest makes Tony immune to Loki's mind control.

The Exiled One said...

"Ha ha, I was hoping the Mark 7 Iron man armor was going to be the Hulkbuster armor too!"

Personally, I was hoping for the Thorbuster Armor, considering they fight Loki on this one.

Am I the only one who remembers the Thorbuster Armor?

Exiled One, please just write down all your comments on one comment box as you watch the video, then post them all at once. I should not have to approve five posts in a row.

As for what the future holds, the only movies confirmed so far are "Iron Man 3", "Thor 2" and "Captain America 2". There are zero plans for another Hulk movie, so yes, it's more likely that Hulk will return in either "Iron Man 3", "Thor 2" or "Captain America 2".

As for the villains, personally I'm hoping for The Mandarin for "Iron Man 3", Hela or The Enchantress for "Thor 2" and Baron Zemo for "Captain America 2".

Also, S.H.I.E.L.D. should factor in "Captain America 2" so they introduce Sharon Carter.

Finally, and this may sound crazy, but I hope they bring back Phil Coulson as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of Deathlok.

The Exiled One said...

The few times I tried to do that, the comment box said that there were too much words for the message to be sent.

I'd rather send several different messages and have enough words to say what I mean than send one big message and having to delete entire paragraphs of commentary.

about the 400% power thing energy weapons always use a capacitor to covert the steady flow of power from the supply into the short high current burst need to fire the weapon. so I assumed Thor's lighting strike charged all of the capacitors in the weapon system including capacitors not normally kept charge.

I saw the Avengers today (Saturday), so I avoided your v-log until after I'd seen it myself. A couple of points:

I really don't believe Coulson is dead. It's not like Fury didn't lie to the Avengers to "push" them, so he could easily have lied to them about his death. He was reported "down." And the medics were there. We only saw him lose consciousness.

Also, in one 80's issue of the Avengers (don't know which one offhand, it's in one of my long-boxes) Cap DID use Thor's hammer. He was surrounded by 20-30 thugs next to Mjolnir. They piled on him, and he came up swinging the hammer. It's was a very awesome moment.

This movie was very awesome, I will definitely be seeing it again.

Great v-log.

I've seen it twice. Lerved it!
Had cosplay at both - a sneak preview in Sydney a couple of weeks ago, then a comic-shop-organised premiere here in Canberra. The stupid theatre put up the house lights on the second showing as soon as the credits rolled, ruining that scene. :(

I knew it! I knew people wouldn't realise Hawkeye was wearing purple unless they looked for it!
I did look, and yes, he was; but you can hardly tell.
There was no in-movie reason, though, why he wouldn't be wearing a standard SHIELD uniform.

Shada:
"in one 80's issue of the Avengers Cap DID use Thor's hammer."
I suspect that's why LInkara wanted to see it in the movie.

The animated Avengers movie that your bro was talking about is called "Ultimate Avengers". As the title suggests,it takes place in the Ultimate Universe. And in the Ultimate universe, like you mentioned in your Ultimatum review, Mjolnir is not restricted by the worthiness test.

Great review Linkara, but I sort of agree with above comments that your brother seemed to dominate the conversation at times cutting you off and giving his own rambling thoughts on stuff ad so forth. It was just sort of annoying your brother seemed to control things more than you, on your own show/website.

Actually the percent power is not wrong since it doesnt have to be measuring the level of a battery, merely output power. As someone with a background in Nuclear power, it is very capable for a reactor to exceed the rated power many times over, if it is not correctly contained. And since Tony's suit runs off of some uber-power source I believe this applies.

Dustin said...

Not sure if it has been said or not, but at one time I believe around 1983-1986 (shortly before Eric Masterson became Thor)Thor and Captain American do a bonding thing and Cap can lift the hammer. Then later after Thor gets banished Eric Masterson goes to the Avengers and as his version of Thor and Cap is still bound to the Hammer

OK, you kinda had me going with this one
I saw the Cinema Snob's review before, and was surprised at his positive response, considering how negative he tends to be about Joss Wedon on his podcasts.
So after seeing your opening, I kinda thought I got stuck in some sort of mirror-verse for a moment.
Either that, or this was some sort of Watchmen situation, when you'r nerdiness prevented you from appreciating a good movie.
And man what a movie it was!
If only not for those idiots that turned on the lights as soon as the credits started rolling.
Our theaters do this all the times. Sometimes they don't even show the entire credits, no matter what bonus there might be.
I personally do like the moments when the Hulk can lift-up Thor's hammer. It basically implies that the Hulk is so powerful that he basically can brake the rules of the universe itself!
I also agree with the suggestions I saw other viewers giving, that the 400% on Iron-Man's energy probably includes some back-up storage as well as the entire energy grid of his armor. Tony does prepare for nearly every alternative.

The thing about Red Hood wearing the Batman logo is actually pretty well explained.
In issue 6 (which is a whole-issue flashback, taking place before issue 1) we see Jason attacking a submarine, while wearing the costume he did in Under the Red Hood. After the submarine is destroyed, he ends up stranded on an island with no clothes.
There he's discovered by Strafire, who nurses him back to full health, and offers him some clothing.
However the only male clothing she possesses are things left behind by Dick Grayson, and consist of variations on the Robin, Nightwing, and Batman costumes.
Jason initially freaks-out, but Starfire tells him that they are just clothes, that they can't hurt him, and that they do not define who he truly is. After this he accepts them.

As for the quality of the comic itself?
It depends on what you are looking for.
If you just read it for the story-arcs, you'll hate it. The ending of the first story-arc (Jason searching for the murderer of the assassins he used to train with after his revival) seemed like a huge ass-pull (hint, it involves Trigon, who wasn't mentioned once before that point), and the sub-plot about an alien hunter blaming Starfire for the death of his parents goes pretty much no-where.
If you are in it for the character however, the character-arcs and growth (especially of Jason Todd) will make you return every month.
There's a general theme of second chances, letting go, and coming to terms with ones past.
This is partially summed-up in the one sub-plot that goes somewhere.
A mobster has a vendetta against Jason, and wants him dead at any cost.
Jason repeatedly spares the mobsters life, mostly out of pity.
She eventually crosses the line by taking an entire children's hospital hostage, demanding Jason Todd in exchange.
After beating her, Jason asks her to leave the past behind before it destroys her. She replies by telling that she won't stop until one of them is dead. After this Jason finally kills her.
It is also in this same issue that Jason meets with Tim, with both of them putting their differences away for a day, and spending some quality time together.
When at the end of the issue Alfred releases a distress call, Jason jumps in to stand at Batman's side without a second thought.

For the record, Lewis, the thing about lying on the wire to let the other man cross isn't actually a reference to being the man who gets killed to let others get past. It's actually a standard infantry procedure for crossing barbed wire--the first man to get to it just throws himself onto the wire in a big belly flop, crushing it down, allowing the others to use his body as a bridge to cross the barbed wire. It's done because it's faster than attempting to cut properly laid down (i.e., tangled) barbed wire, and also safer for the person doing it, since he's not sitting there exposed to enemy fire with wire cutters--he'll have to pull the barbs out of his uniform afterwards, but that's more of an annoyance.

Superguy0009 said...

Do you think that there is a possibility that the movie Thanos is actually the movie Red Skull?

boooratt said...

Awesome I just saw the Avengers today and it was awesome!
I loved every minute! My only complaints are few and far between. My only plot convenient problem which is a nitpick to me was the fact why did all the aliens just suddenly drop dead when their mother ship was destroyed? I think that'd made the ending more interesting that even after they shut the portal down there was still like a few dozen aliens trapped on Earth. That'd been a perfect set up for a spinoff movie for SHIELD of them still mopping up aliens and alien tech on the streets of New York. Think of it like District 9 mixed in with the Marvel universe! It's just kind of convenient for all those creatures to be dead and all their technology is basically useless!
One other thing but this is a compliment to the movie to me and it is taken strait from the Ultimates comics! Is the kind of post-9/11 style new coverage after the invasion and destruction of the city! You see the prayer services and memorials on the TVs. Bay tried to do stuff like that in his Transformers movies and it was very poorly handled!
Well the thing with the Hulk being out of control the 1st time and being in control the 2nd time was either one of 2 possibilities; 1.) Loki's staff was still effecting his mind when he transformed and Banner couldn't manage to control the Hulk. Or, 2.) something that does happen in the comics that is hard to explain in a way that just isn't an exposition dump as even the comics have to flat out explain in the caption boxes and that is Banner can control the Hulk if he intentionally transforms like he did in the final fight, but if he is caught off guard and transforms like being shot or stabbed or is in like a car wreck or his life is in immediate danger he'll transform and the Hulk is fully in control and is like a beast. Because there have been stories of Hulk being in Joe Fix-It(Grey-Hulk) form which is intelligent and thinking but if he gets to worked up and angry he'll turn into regular Savage Green Hulk! I think a better way they could've shown this was if when that explosion happened that sent Banner and Black Widow flying threw that window if when he landed he had like a large piece of that glass or one of those pipes stuck threw him and he panicked and transformed! That said i loved how Hulk killed that giant Space Dragon with one punch! Also I loved how Hulk moved in this movie in all the other versions Hulk kind of walked up right like a human but in this he walked and moved a lot more like a Gorilla! He looked like if he wasn't leaping every where he'd knuckledrag!
I do gotta admit they did Black Widow really well in giving hints at her background! I do hope they do a prequel story for her and Hawkeye's origins! Maybe mix in Winter Soldier!
Oh, as for Shadowy Council of People in Poorly Lit Rooms Who Run the World I do agree as they had secondary characters from all the other movies one of them should've been like General Ross!
That said does anyone else think that waitress(at the end Capt saved and was on the news) was maybe Sharon Carter! A non-SHIELD agent version of her?
I also did notice the different scenes from what was in the trailers! mostly in that they used different takes from the movie in the trailers like how Tony said the line, " A genius billionaire playboy philanthropist." in the commercials it was more jokey and sarcastically delivered but in the movie he said it more spitefully because he and all the other characters at the time were being effected by Loki's spear!

boooratt said...

I'd love to own Hawkeye's Quiver!
Thanos the Mad Titan an immortal alien that's basically a demi-god that is literally in love with the embodiment of Death in the Marvel universe! That's why he smiles when he's told "fighting the humans is like courting death itself"... Yeah some one leaked that scene to Youtube and I saw it! So the next movie will probably be based off of Infinity Gauntlet, but hopefully better as I don't like Adam Warlock as a character and he's basically the main protagonist of that arc! Or, a version of Infinity Gauntlet with the Cosmic Cube in its place as it's power has been established!
I was hoping Red Skull would've been in the movie too as it was a spoiler leak awhile back that said he was going to be helping Loki... well the spoiler thing was like 50% correct it said the plot was Loki trades the Cube to Thanos for control of his army which would be the Chitari(Ultimate Skrulls basically) which was 100% correct for the most part but this spoiler also said that Red Skull was the 2nd in command of this army as Loki discovered him while he was in space and that at the end Thanos shows up during the invasion and betrays Loki and Loki helps the Avengers defeat him and blah, blah Red Skull escapes leaving it open for him to return in the next Captain America movie... well that didn't happen so I'm still not sure when or how Red Skull can return! Also the rumored stinger for the movie at that time was Hank Pym being introduced as a scientist being brought in by SHIELD to work on something!

Wow, all of ya'll at TGWTG have reviewed this movie now but Doug! I hope a Bum Review is up soon! XD

I was thinking something similar too with Banner riding off with Tony! Actually since it was revealed the 3rd Iron Man movie was going to be based even more off the Extremis Arc than ever before I thought hey were going to mix in the Ultimate Human story Arc from the Ultimate Universe since both those stories use nanotechnology heavily! With Mandarin mixed in as well! Since, "During a subsequent story with the return of the Mandarin, who attempts to release Extremis on a large scale as part of his plan to 'reshape' the human race, it is revealed that Extremis can only be successfully used on people who possess a rare genetic sequence, found in only 2.5% of the human population; this percentage includes Tony Stark and Maya Hansen, but does not include the Mandarin. Anyone without this sequence who is exposed to Extremis will be killed by the system." which to me sounds like an excellent movie idea! If they did (I know they won't since it's already been stated that Hulk or Banner will not appear in Iron Man 3) They could combine Mandarin and the Ultimate Leader's roles in the story!

Black Sabbath - I Am Iron Man. It took me 4 days for my brain to make the connection for that joke and I feel stupid because of it.
Anyway, like the review and obviously the film was great, but since you mentioned Starks appearance in Incredible Hulk I was wondering if you ever saw the Marvel One-Shot titled "The Consultant" as it puts a wonderful little spin on his appearance.

Let's say that Tony's batteries are large in his suit and that his arc reactor can't fully power them, and the lightning did.

Now I had to separate my undying love of Joss Whedon as he is one my top 3 favorite writer/directors in film and TV with Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese and why I'm in film school write now but in the end it just shows how perfect he is for the movie. Handling a huge group of people, giving everyone a fully realized and completed arc, gives everyone a "HELL YEAH!" moment to stand-out, and just fantastic writing.

One thing I love is that Hawkeye, played perfectly by Jeremy Renner, is a major threat for the first half of the film and that when they flesh out Black Widow's back story, played much better here and given more time than in Iron Man 2 by Scarlett Johansson, it also fleshes out Hawkeye's back story as well with his history of being a spy and with Black Widow. BRILLIANT! Also shows that yeah Hawkeye can hold his own.

Robert Downey, Jr. still IS Tony Stark/Iron Man. His snarkness is perfect to be written by Joss Whedon. Chris Hemsworth's Thor is still very good and a very believable character. Chris Evans as Captain America finally stepping into the leadership role even more so. The scene where he gives orders to the cops is fantastic and especially when giving the rest the team one.

"Hulk....smash!" Overjoyed nerd excitement!

Samuel L. Jackson finally does something as Nick Fury. He was only okay but really he's just been like that college scout you see at boring high school sports events to see who's good enough to say yeah, he's a badass. Clark Gregg's Coulson was still fun and well his death did serve a purpose and actually gave us a reason why they're called The Avengers. Also Cobie Smulders had a cool moment herself in that opening chase scene at S.H.I.E.L.D. in the opening.

Now the main stand-outs, first Mark Ruffalo is FANTASTIC as Bruce Banner/Hulk. He and Whedon seemed to take a new spin on Banner and it works. Ruffalo surpasses Eric Bana and Edward Norton who I both liked but Ruffalo does something else. Keeping more cool than thought and I jumped when he slammed his fists on the table with Black Widow in the opening. It also helps he did the motion capture and expressions for Hulk as well. The scene between him and Harry Dean Stanton, YES REPO MAN IN AVENGERS, is nice and actually I found out got cut down so that's most likely gonna be on the Blu-Ray release which I will buy right away. Revealing that he's always angry as to how he stays in control was pretty damn fun.

The other stand-out, Tom Hiddleston as Loki. Loki, Loki, Loki. Loki is a fantastic villain. Always has been and I'm glad the Thor movie, which I personally loved, and that here he became a huger threat. Loki is a pure douche and he relishes it. Especially in Germany. Hiddleston does play the one-upped second son well here like he did in Thor and the scenes with him and Hemsworth as Thor are just as good here as they are in Thor. Especially the fight scenes and the scene in the Hellicarrier when Thor is in the cell. Loki is a great villain. One the best ever in any media. Comics, film, television, whatever and I'm super glad that someone like Tom Hiddleston plays him.

This movie lives up to all hype and then some. I loved this film a lot!

I have never seen his newer costumes since I've only managed to ,y hands on 70's/80's comics with him as the villain. But I am pretty sure that villain next to Sandman is James Sanders AKA the Speed Demon

Don't cry because of HoPR, Linkara, at least not until your brother forces you to watch Operation Overdrive. That's a great reason to cry.

But good vlog. And totally agree with you. Go watch Avengers, then watch it again.

First, no I didn't fall for your little charade, I had heard enough spoilers by now (I eat those for breakfast) that I knew the movie was great (and besides I know your tastes well enough by now too) so I knew you were just screwing with us. ;)

In fact, I was particularly looking up for your reactions (and those of the other TGWTG people) because I knew you would review it with the perfect balance of geekiness and class. ERod in particular will explode I think. XD

Btw, I think this is the first time I see your brother. He sounds like a nice fellow, and I enjoyed his part in the conversation. Have him guest more often! :) But no more charades OK?

I laughed loudly at the LMD bit in the theater, and a half second later a dozen other people joined me.

I liked hearing the review and agree with most of it. Glad to hear you both enjoyed it. I will say with regard to some of the things your brother was saying, Hulk does have a personality. The Grey Hulk ran a crime syndicate and the current Hulk is quite intelligent (sort of a mix of savage hulk and grey), but still does not play well with others.

Also Hulk says leave Hulk alone in Incredible Hulk. But I liked the review overall. I like the intro especially, worst film since Last Airbender, well played.

You didn't talk about the post post credits scene. It was gold! I guess you just wanted to leave it for the audience to see for themselves though. I just figured that some people might have thought that the Thanos post credits scene was the only one. Anyway, the biggest problem I had with this movie was how little "The Incredible Hulk" actually tied in with it. They made one little reference when Bruce said "I was in New York once" but that was about it. The new actor as well, he did really good yes, but it just felt so different. But yeah, glad to hear your opinions, and I really enjoyed this movie.

General Ross was actually a member of the council, as another Hulk reference for you.

I agree with pretty much everything Boooratt just said, btw. The aliens shouldn't have died like that. The out-of-control Hulk was affected by Loki's staff... and, technically, effected by it, too. (The in-control when the change is deliberate thing is common in werewolf stories, btw.)
I was trying to work out if that waitress was Sharon Carter (too waitressy, not SHIELDy enough) or Bernie Rosenthall (not red-headed enough) or somebody - either way, I figure we'll see more in Cap 2; and the Hulk being gorilla-like.

I think of the Giant Space Dragon as A'tuin (at least, when it first appears and you see it from in front).

Linkara wroted:
"how do you explain Loki not being able to control Tony, then?"
"...He's got a big metal arc reactor where his heart should be,"

Yes - if you'll notice, when he takes control of people at the start, he'll say 'you have a heart'. Tony kind of doesn't.

Loki has too be one of the best villains come out of a marvel film. He has that perfect of sympathy, because he's always destined to lose, and Disdain, with him being so smug all the time.

Well Linkara, if your brother doesn't like Thor, show and maybe it will change his mind. If it doesn't maybe you will get a chuckle out of it.

I just want to point out a little detail that sold me on Black Widow (I didn't really take to her in the other movies, call that me being jaded from seeing too many femme fatale and kung-fu chick characters).

The crux of her interaction with Loki his deception and manipulating her didn't work, it's that it DID work. Loki brought out what were possibly her most tangible fears and in later scenes she acknowledges them as true. The difference is that she didn't let her fears get in the way of doing her job.

I also liked that they used her to introduce both Bruce Banner and the Hulk. After establishing that she is an amazing character who can keep her cool, she is always on guard when he is around. It made him seem like a huge threat in a way that simply explaining it wouldn't work.

I would like to point out that in both Ultimate and Normal marvel continuity the Hulk ahd killed people. In the Ultimates, he killed many hundreds of people in new york. In 616, The Hulk's rampage in Las Vegas killed 50ish people. That's what led to Planet Hulk

You would have gotten me, but I was prepared since I saw Spoonys vlog first and he did the exact same thing.

I don’t see it so…
Agent Coulson is not dead (or might come back to life) because he will be the star of an ABC Family Shield T.V. show that takes place after The Avenger. An alternate opening for The Incredible Hulk is Bruce goes to a mountain and he shoots himself.
