who played future Linkara?

Oh men, this is really as bad as I thought...
Again, very funny review, Linkara!
Is it a coincidence, that both you and Benzaie got family members to play your future/alternate selfs? And it was your father, right?

Keep up the good work! Oh, I'm so looking forward to Countdown... :D

Another nice review of a bad comic that's rightfully burning atop the fourth wall! Although, I do have a few questions. Who was the man playing future you? Why didn't the "I am a man!" from last week's review count? Will we see the Linkara Terminater (which I think I'll call the T-4W unless someone has a better name for it) agien some time? And do they ever explien how Skynet was able to take down most of the heroes, and possibly the villians becuase many of them would probably fight Skynet as well do to the them being organtic as well?

Lewis Lovhaug said...

I say who he is right there in the credits - L. Lovhaug. =3

As for the ending... the name I've designated him is "Mechakara."

Confused Matthew is a movie reviewer on youtube who recently got his own website (http://www.confusedmatthew.com/). I have no idea what about this review reminded NarcolepticWolf of Confused Matthew though, and I'm a huge Confused Matthew fan.

P.S. Was Robocop vs. Terminator any good?

Lewis Lovhaug said...

Never read it, but found a very spiffy fanmade version of a possible fight here and there on youtube.

And yeah, I know who Confused Matthew is, but I am also confused about why he referenced him.

Marcel said...

My Thoughts:

- That was um, a bizarre pre-intro bit there...care to explain?
- Even bizarrer stinger there.

Overall, a good review

Joshua the Anarchist said...

Oh, wait! I just caught the Confused Matthew reference! You used the same image of a pile of pocket watches that Confused Matthew has in his intro.

Another great review Linkara.

I'm confused, if this is after T2, shouldn't there be no Skynet (Yes I know the movies and TV series undid this) But I thought that was the end.

I read a bit of Superman VS. Aliens a while back, and that was just werid.

Looking forward to Countdown.

You have a penchant for great openings and endings. I'd get hooked on any TV show with that was bookended like that.

Aaaah.

...Yeah, I just grabbed it from Google. ^^;

This actually isn't that bad.

It's just fluff at best, fanboy fluff. Not any kind of gem like 52 or something, but not as bad as Amazon's Attack. Your arguements on the silliness of this crossover are sound however, but still it makes for a super hilarious video!

I think this is your best opening yet, and actually one of my all time favorite reviews of yours! And hands down your funniest, in my eye! I haven't laughed this hard since I saw Avenue Q on Broadway, several years ago. I'm just now catching my breath again

So until they come up with Metallo Vs The Terminator the fan boy youtube trailer, MAKE MINE LINKARA!!

Ok I'm starting to like the theme song, The review was hilarious, BTW you should update your twitter account by posting the link to the video. Anyway Nice vid man.

The reason why Skynet couldn't send more than one was because by the time they've made the time machine work they're losing the war badly (in fact they sent the one form T1 wend the humans are storming Skynet's center), it's an act of desperation, but each time Skynet's condiction improves (the so do the humans).

T2 make the T-1000 (but the war was ment to end here)

T3 the T-X kills key menber of the John's resistance making him no longer the leader, Skynet become unkillable (but skynet doesn't go as nuke happy)

SCC the made the time machine years earlier thus sending an army into the past

T4 the T-800s come a full 10 years befor they do in T1 (but as seen in T3 humans are a bit better of, have more than just truks with guns on them)

Suppose you'd better tell this never-tweeting misspeller to stop non-impersonating you then: http://twitter.com/at4w

Anyway, sweet review, and the "story bits" were great fun too. Glad to see your future self got the purdy hat back.

Great video, sir. I think this is your best so far. :-D

Also, in twenty years I hope we're budding rivals in the comic industry.

Brendan Talbot said...

Great Vid! Had to pause it because of laughter with the Revolution of the Mask line. Really liked the first issue and can't wait to see how the story progresses.

m121akuma said...

Epic ending. I was waiting for that scene since seeing it in the Season 2 trailer. I can't wait to see more Mechakara in the future (although I'm in agreement with Rokee that its designation should totally be T-4W).

Awesome stuff!
Next up, Aliens vs Predator vs Terminator and RoboCop versus The Terminator. Lol, these got to be ridiculous.

The title card looks like Luffy punching Brook.

Great video

You know Archie Meets the Punisher is completely awesome. Admit it. ^.^

Good review.

As for who was interested in Batman vs. Aliens, my brother certainly was. He brought it home and said it was awesome. I looked through it later and saw that it was really lame and just plain stupid to do.

I was surprised by Sarah Connor's depiction in the comic. Very whinny and annoying and not the tough strong character from the films.

CantStrafeRight said...

But if you don't have a twitter account who is this?

Anonymous said...

Yeah the whole 'only living tissue can time travel' thing is kinda stupid for a time machine built by robots, but the real reason for it is to explain why they don't bring an assload of futuristic armaments back in time with them.

Mechakara's tiny robotic hand cracks me up. ;)

Another fantastic review of another awful comic! Though there are worse our there...

...Will we be seeing more of Mecha Linkara? Because he's kinda...well, awesome.

Emrys1987 said...

Then somebody is posing as U on Twitter http://twitter.com/AtopFourthWall

Lewis Lovhaug said...

Indeed, it has been established that someone is impersonating me on Twitter. Could someone send an e-mail their way or a comment or something and let them know that while I appreciate the effort and the idea, I don't like other people impersonating me online, since, again, I have no Twitter? XD

Jared Goswell-Avery said...

Say by any chance are you Lewis Lovhaug Jr. and your dad is named Lewis Lovhaug Sr.?

I'm just guessing out loud here but I'm almost positive this is true. Oh and I noticed the fedora your dad had on. It's the Indiana Jones fedora I have the exact same one.

Anyways I just really wanted to say awesome review I was laughing my head off through out and had to pause it a few times to gather myself.

Anyways I have one more question will anymore of your stuff be posted in the TGWTG premium section of the site then the videos of you doing Spoony's job of reviewing a game and vice versa? I would love to load my BlackBerry with some more of your videos to show to my friends.

Lewis Lovhaug said...

Actually if you go to Blip itself and hunt down the show, you can download my episodes directly from there. ^^

Dorko said...

Folks...think about it. The day before this review was posted was Father's Day. The gentleman playing future Linkara was said to be (not that it has to be so, but hey) thirty years older than Linkara. He was also credited as sharing Linkara's last name. Special attention was paid to making a joke about Linkara living with his parents. Do we have a good hypothesis to fit these facts?

Anyhow, another good review. Not as great as some others, but this comic wasn't quite the...crapfest some of the stuff you review is. Plus there was a Spoony cameo, so it had half of the Channel Awesome hosts I watch in it.

"Lewis Lovhaug said... Actually if you go to Blip itself and hunt down the show, you can download my episodes directly from there. ^^"

Wow that was fast. I just tried it and the episodes are also in HD it looks like as well. Hooray! ^_^ Thanks Lewis I got more HD content I can add to my PlayStation 3 now. *goes off to download more*

Lewis Lovhaug said...

HD is probably the wrong word - I just save at a fairly good quality and it loses some of that in the conversion to Flash for Blip.

Mike said...

Amazing Review but one question, did they ever make numbers 2 through 4 and will you be reviewing those if they did?

Lewis Lovhaug said...

They did and I'll probably get to them later.

Anonymous said...

Excellent review. Having them share universes makes zero sense, and the power difference between Superman and the T-800 is too great.

日本文化のマニアック said...

With the open ending it left, was there a sequel to this comic? Or did it do so badly no one ever bothered?

Marcel said...

Indecipherable Japanese Blogger:

The comic was actually number 1 of 4, so I imagine they prolly finished this muck.

Nick said...

Yeah this should have been a short series what with Superman being nearly unkillable and possessing godlike strength and speed. That's ignoring his heat vision and freeze breath.

Queen Anthai said...

Oh God, I have issue #4 of this for the sole reason that I was a huge Supergirl fan at the time. I bought EVERYTHING with her in it.

I hate time travel stories. I hate the entire CONCEPT of time travel, and the entire Terminator series' concept of time travel is the one that made my head hurt the worst, mostly for the reason you mentioned - why WOULDN'T Skynet send hundreds of Terminators instead of just one? For that matter, why not send hundreds in day-long increments so that even in the event that Sarah would manage to elude/defeat one, there'd be a fresh one coming the next day? She wouldn't be able to rest or heal or anything. Game over, advantage Skynet.

Caveat: I don't mind comedic time-travel i.e. Back To the Future or Bill & Ted (although Bill & Ted had glaring problems with their concept). It's when they try to explain it as realistic science that it grates on me.

You're a brave man for taking this one on.

In the future, however, I require more pants. :P

(Heh! I remember leafing through the paperback version of this comic in a bookstore a few moons back. Good times)

Anyways...at the risk of getting into a weird ethical debate, does it ever bother anyone else when "no [or rarely] kill" superheroes, like Superman here, tend to get kinda kill-happy when it comes to robots?

I mean, I'd lean towards the ruthlessly pragmatic myself when it comes to dealing with dangerous supervillains, anyway; and I wouldn't fault anyone for destroying a clearly mindless machine in the defense of lives and property. But when true A.I.s start getting in the mix, and characters don't show any hesitation to kill THEM...well, what was a "moral gray area" starts to turn into "outright spooky."

if you do wanna see archie vs punisher reveiwed go to head injury theatre

The Trembler said...

Wait a minute. . .

If Superman and the JL were alive, they'd never let Skynet take over. So John Henry Irons is probably the only one left.

So Skynet, an enemy form the future, destroys virtually all the world's superheroes.

Which means:

It was Skynet who became Monarch!!!

I think you were a little unfair to this one.
I mean, you didn't even mention the brilliant characterisation of young John Connor.
Seriously, I found myself thinking that if he wanted a good model for a kid with a hard life, he should watch T2...and it wasn't until much later that I realised I was thinking about the same kid.
Why, oh why didn't they let the raptors eat him before he wrote this?

CBLuigi said...

Oh man, Funnier In Hindsight on the "what powers would Superman use against a time cyclone" joke.

In Superman on the N64, there's a mission where you have to blow away some slow-moving tornadoes/cyclones with your freeze breath. They're not time cyclones per say, but I still find it hilarious.

Ming said...

Just out of sheer curiosity, are you going to do the rest of Superman Vs. Terminator?

Bekah said...

Shorts? Awww... >:T Oh well. :) You still have nice legs. From what I could see, anyway.
Great review Mr. Lovhaug, sir. ^u^
