Q & A: I Want Your Questions!

So, I've got some free time on my hands and I thought now would be a good time to do a different sort of Vlog, wherein you guys asked me questions, both minor ones or common ones, and I'll answer the ones that I feel would work best. Go ahead and ask anything you want, even personal stuff, since I can freely discard those if I feel like it. ^_^

So go on, ask away!

EDIT: To clarify, I plan to answer the ones I want to in a video, not in the comments. ‎

Hi Link. I have a slightly contraversial question. You're a Feminist right? Yet you also like Sailor Moon. I don't know about you but doesn't she represent everything you as a Feminist hate? I mean Sailor Moon constantly gets bad grades, she's a crybaby, cowardly (until backed into a corner or friends are in trouble) and worst of all she can't live without a man (Mamoru) to have worthwhile life (hell in the manga version she commits sebuku when Mamoru dies TWICE). Although I heard the manga version of Sailor Moon is a more competant and mature heroine.

Now I am not Feminist so I don't know their beliefs, nor I do have anything against them (my bro does though).

The only comics I can really say I've read would be the Transformer comics, and a handfull of Robotech ones. (and a few older spider/batman ones) Any planed review of a "bad" Transformer comic?

If you got a chance to interview Stan Lee, what question(s) would you ask?

What do you think about "Who wants to be a super hero?" And did you ever read the comics that came out based on the two seasions? - also would you try out for seasion 3 if they do one?

Thoughts on the Kick-ass movie?

And finaly, what is the best comic you've read so far, and the worst comic you've read so far?

1. Are you aware that there's a Silent Hill: Dying Inside sequel? If so, would you review it or would you rather not risk having a rage-induced brain aneurysm?

2. Does Rogue from X-Men always act like a whiny brat, or is that just the more recent cartoons? (I haven't seen the original one in years and don't remember)

3. What are some GOOD X-Men comics? Quite a few I've read the plot/summary for makes me go "WTF?"

In addition to Dry's question:
Have you ever read european comics?
And if yes, did you read some that were not that popular internationally?

What music do you like? Got a top 10 favorite bands or songs?

What movies do you like? Got a top 10? by genre...if that helps.

what do you think of the 3DTV movement and 3DS?

Do you have any plans for another "lets play"

That flint lock pistol you have in the videos. Is it real? Would you take it to the gun range? Own any other fire arms?

Many fans have donated comics. Any notable ones? good or bad?

You have been to a ton of conventions. what was your reaction to the culture shock? the yaoi, the fan girls, the crazy costumes? have you met any really cool fans? have you met any fans that have dressed up like you or any of the other ppl from TGWTG? or AVGN?

Do you ever find it difficult to function as both a critic and a creator at the same time? Personally I've found that as I've slowly built up reknown and modest success as a creator of comics, it has become harder and harder to voice criticism due to now regularly meeting and working with other creators so that I can't retain an objective viewpoint, and for fear of being accused of hypocrisy. Do you find this to be a problem, and is this why the 'Linkara' persona is used for reviews?

Do you consider yourself a writer or a critic first?

It's really difficult to ask a truely new question. But first I like so say how mush I like the show and that because of you I read 52. etc etc.

I was curious if you read manga or "literary" graphic novels. As Linkara of AT4W I expect you read Superhero comics as the shows thing. but i'm curious. (where is you secret suger pink Shojo collection)

How do you the Linkara character of AT4W in real life? Mostly I see fan girl/boys drooling for your affection, the most strangest shippings with marzgirl and Dr. insano and not to forget the girl friend question. How do you see Linkara. An alter ego, your daily self, a monster that consumes you etc.

My last question is ... when are you going to spoon with spoony?

Wow, the response you've gotten so far is huge. So on the offchance you read this:

You've often said how you're surprised or pleased (or something to that effect) at how many of your viewers are not particularly big comic book fans-- I'm one of those as well, never having really read comics.

Do you sacrifice much of what you could put in your scripts in order to make your videos more easy-to-digest for the fans that aren't really comic readers (not counting the brief summaries of the story needed to follow along)?

In any case, even though I don't read comics and have never really done so (and am thus totally uneducated in the world of comics), I thoroughly enjoy your reviews, so you must be doing SOMETHING right to get that wide of an audience.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?

I really enjoyed your review with Film Brain. Do you plan to review any other comic book movies in the future?

Hello there Lewis. I have a couple of questions that I hope you will look at and answer in your video :)

1) Since "One More Day" (hear me out)I haven't been able to pick up a marvel comic like I used to and have pretty much fallen out with Marvel comics for the time. Is there ever a time that you fell out with a company or came close?

2. Kinda generic but Besides Gail Simone who are some of your favorite writers? Right now some of mine are Gail Simone, Geoff Johns and Grant Morrison.

3. Where do you draw your inspiration from for Linkara. Is it just you going into comic geek mode every episode or do you base him on some one in movies or books like the Nostalgia Critic does.

4. Sorry I have to ask what camera do you use?

5.Sorry I can't think of a clever one to end on so since I'm a huge MST3K fan like you. What are some of your favorite episodes. I own about 9 episodes and the movie. So I'm always curious. I asked the cinema snob the same thing, so I thought hell why not ask you :D

Thanks alot, I look forward to the video man and to the next AT4W and HOPW. I don't mean to sound like a jerk but, try following me on twitter it would be great to chat comic books with someone like you. I've already asked you a couple of questions about the Teen Titans and they were very helpful. So thanks again man.

You mentioned R.A Salvatore in one of your reviews. Have you ever read the comic book adaptations of his "Legend of Drizzt" books?

Great job with the show. I'm really looking forward to your next History of PR vid. I can't wait till you get to SPace, Lost Galaxy, Time FOrce, and RPM. Those are my faves.

What is your favorite Doctor Who episode of the New Series?

Also, have you read any of the Simpsons or Futurama comics? Or the crossover between them?

This is my first post ever, but I couldn't let this oppurtunity slip. So let me thank for your awesome series.

As for questions:
What would be your dream comic project(series, characters, creators)?
Also, will we see more of 90s kid in the future, perhaps even his own spinoff series? He's by far my favorite 'secondary' character on TGWTG (and he has great chemistry with Angry Joe).

William Cardno said...

Why do you avoid the use of course language in your reviews? You've been clean as a whistle in the majority of your videos and I've always wondered why you made that choice.

William Cardno said...

why is it that you avoid coarse language in your reviews? I've wondered that since the TGWTG 1st year anniversary.

I've been wondering this through all of Kickassia: why aren't you wearing your glasses in a lot of the scenes? Are they actually fake?

Hey Linkara!

I was wondering what comic you would advise to a complete comicbook noob? Could you make a top 5 of best comics to get started with superhero comics?

Hi Lewis,

While managing Atop the Fourth Wall and participating in projects such as Kickassia and conventions, how do you find time for the more mundane parts of life (for example, work, groceries, etc?). I guess I'm asking what a typical day is like for you.

Cheers,
Natasha

1. Will you do a Let's Play of Star Trek: Elite Forces 2?

2. Would you consider you and Spoony the "Blue Beetle and Booster Gold" of TGWTG?

3. While you generally pan stuff from Image comics, what do you think of The Walking Dead?

4. What are your expectations for the Thor movie, Captain America movie, and Avengers movie?

I was wondering what your thoughts were on Warren Ellis' "No Hero"?

If you're still taking questions (I doubt it but I'll try anyway, I have a few:
You mentioned in your power rangers reviews that you used to watch Digimon. How many seasons did you see and what were your favorite characters?

Amanda said...

If these have already been asked, just see it as support that people want to know!

First, this has been bothering me for a LONG time. When fans send you fanmail or comment on your videos do you prefer to be called Lewis or Linkara? I feel like its more polite to use your real name, but I've never really met you, so I don't know if that's weird.

What comics are on your pull list right now? And of those, which would you recommend to your fans as ones you are really enjoying?

Also, what advice would you have for someone who was looking to start a vidoe blog.

Where did the name Linkara come from?

And lastly, in Spoony's Party Mania review that had 80's Chick (which was amazing by the way) we had a possible back story where Dr. Insano was one of the Schlumper brothers. Is there any chance that Dr. Linksano is the other brother?

Thanks for your time and I look forward to seeing what questions you choose!

KKDW said...

Another one from me. As someone who has their own published comic, do you have any advice for anyone who would want to get into the comics industry?

Amanda said...

Another from me, sorry!

Do you have any plans to start up any other video series? I seem to remember you mentioning that you were thinking of doing a set of vidoes with 90s kid similar to the Bum reviews in a video somewhere and just wondered if that or anything similar was still in the possible future.

Thanks again!

I know you've most definitely been asked this before but, how did you first begin AT4W?

Also, what's the story with black lanturn spoony? I ask this because I've watched your videos, just not in chronological order (I didn't really expect a story arc in a series of reviews, but hey it's well done at least) and I've heard spoony be referred to as "black lanturn spoony" (even in spoony experiment) and I don't really know why.

Skaargoroth said...

Here's something I always wondered: Have you ever read an review (of any kind, of course) on a Comic and said it was awful. But since it got you interested and when you bought it, it was proven to be actually pretty good?

Andy said...

I didn't really read all the questions, so I don't know if this was asked yet, but I will anyway.

Have you heard of or read Usagi Yojimbo? I'm curious to see what you thoughts on it might be.

Also, will you be my friend?

Justin said...

I always enjoy the Doctor Who references you put in your videos. I was wondering what your thoughts were on the series, which Doctor is your favorite and how you like the new series compared to the classic.

Justin said...

Sorry, just thought of another question. As someone who likes Doctor Who and someone who enjoys comics, if you've read them, how do you feel about the Doctor Who Comics series? If you haven't, you should definitely give the Doctor Who Classics comics a look. They have an awesome "vintage SciFi" style to them and are all really good reads, especially the ones with the 4th Doctor.

Landon Erp said...

I'm just going to double up what I saw someone else ask to start.

You do complain a lot about female costumes, but what are a few you really like?

Along those lines, what are your thoughts on the redesign of the Huntress costume from her multiple mini-series appearances to the most recent Jim Lee redesign. Specifically from a functionally form fitting body suit that pretty much covered her whole body (presumably with something like kevlar) and had a sensible set of combat boots to something that resembles a swimsuit with high heels that belong in a fetish movie.

(Sorry, sometimes I think you go a bit too far with the criticism of this topic, but in this case the redesign was every bit as bad as you always say and more.)

And also do you have a "dream book" from one of the big two that you'd love to get a chance to write?

Anonymous said...

OK, I'm gonna go with a series of questions...

1. Will you do any more LPs?

2. Your gaming preferences?

3. What's your education and current occupation?

4. How do you do your cameos in other people's videos? They have to ask really-really hard, give you a cameo in return or you just do them cause you like it?

5. Do you have a comicbook collection? How big is it?

6. What do you think made you the 2nd (or 3rd) most popular person on TWGWTG?

7. Any other hobbies you have which we don't know about?

8. Read any manga?

9. How do you manage to keep up such a tight schedule? AT4W is almost always on time and supposedly the rest of your time you watch ALL Power Ranger episodes... That's epic.

10. What's the story behind the hat?

Filip Różanek said...

1) What do you think about this:

2) What European (so-called French-Belgian) comics did you read, if any? Do you have favorite one?

3) Crossoverlord - how it all started? Whose initiative it was? How was planning process looking like? Who has most to said about plot? How much different the final result is from original concept?

Dear Linkara, how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck chucked wood? And do you read Cracked? And also, have you ever been to Birmingham England? Also, who're you're favourite artist, do you like Genesis, Phil Collins, etc. etc? Final questions, are you ever gonna review a Dr. Who comic(if there is a bad Dr. Who comic) if so, then you'd probably use Doctorin' the tardis? Who's your favourite Doctor? (Mine's Sylvester Mccoy.)Final final final final final question, have you ever thought of any Dr. Who stories? (I have.)

I'm thinking about making a web series of my own, but the camera I have isn't up to the task. Could you make any suggestions for me? Also, what programs do you use to do your show? I wouldn't mind a little information on the Nostalgia Critic's or Spoony's technology either.

I think there needs to be a split down the middle of speculative fiction on who gets to make what i.e. we English get fantasy because it’s more connected own culture (king Arthur, Merlin) and you Americans should get science fiction because it’s more connected to you’re culture (Roswell the moon landing). I’m willing to make the following exceptions of doctor who for us and for you Disney kid’s films can still be fantasies. So do you agree with my proposal?

I've been reading some comics intended mainly for younger readers lately. I've found their tone to be much lighter, and I felt they really served purely for entertainment, rather than... whatever the purpose of most comics is.

Because of this, I think that comics intended for younger audiences are, in many ways, actually superior to the more gritty, adult comics you most often see and review.

What do you think? Have adult comics become too dark and serious to be truly entertaining, or is it just the fact people are more receptive of these kind of stories?

I've been a fan of Dark Horse comics for years but recently I'm thinking of trying to expand into the two big publishers (not for any particular reason). I'm interested in a relatively new series that doesn't contain lots of crossovers. I enjoy going and getting a monthly issue (like getting a monthly magazine) and hate having having to go outside that series to complete a specific story arch. Any suggestions...

I remember, from your "2010 April" page that you're planning to review DK2 #3, and I was wondering if you were going to review All=Star Batman and Robin #3 as well.

Your text-to-video reviews have been good, and I would like to see what you have to say for that chapter, as well as the other chapters of All-Star BINO and Robin that are out.

That and I also want to see Irish Ninja Black Canary kick Oliver Queen and Luke Cage in the love chunks:D
