A Quick Look At... Amityville: A New Generation & The Amityville Dollhouse

The penultimate Amityville movie! And it's pretty dull, sorry to say.

The final Amityville film in the original series, however, is actually a lot of fun. ‎

This was an interesting insight to the eight films. Alright, aside from the first film it wouldn't hurt to check out some of them.

Though I am very curious as to what you thought of the remake. I haven't seen it since I saw it in theaters back in 2005. The Asylum film, fine if you want to review it but for me, you don't have to be a genius to know it sucks considering it's from The Asylum.

One thing's for sure, these films have multiple companies owning any of them.

Like these quick look at videos. Hope you eventually do the other Amytyville films, even if they aren't the same series.

Heck, I enjoyed your stuff enough I'm about five minutes from grabbing the bond films to re-watch and write short reviews of.

I really enjoyed this miniseries, which is a little bizarre, considering I've never seen any of the films and don't like Horror Films.

I havent seen Dollhouse so I cant comment on it but its in my netflix queue so I have it to looks forward too.

See now I can buy that many people being killed at the house as it adds to its murderous history. Allot of these Amityville movies have some good ideas but poor execution.

These videos were pretty good, I think I will check out a few of these films, and I wouldn't have otherwise even thought too... pretty good over all.

Hope you do more stuff like that.

I'm liking these more and more. I really like you going over the full series. I saw you talking about the Amityville films on Twitter sometime ago. So, it's nice to know that was building towards a few things. Do you plan on keeping this mainly a look at full series', or is that just for starters? You said you'd probably do AQLA "The Exorict III" - which I love immensely - but I don't think the full series is worthwhile aside from the first and third films. Plus, Doug did "The Exorcist II: The Heretic" on the Nostalgia Critic last Halloween. I'm not sure how much ground you might retread with that. Since I've only seen the original and remake of "The Omen," I'd be more interested in seeing someone cover that series. I hear it gets really weird by the third film.

If you're looking more towards just individual films, my favorite horror film is John Carpenter's "In The Mouth of Madness." A more recent and absolutely terrifying film is "The Strangers." I think it's probably the most frightening, nerve racking film I've ever seen.

Anyway, this is a nice side series that I like. Since you're watching the movies anyway in preparation for Longbox of the Damned, it's not like you're going out of your way to make this possible. Keep up the good work!

As an addedum the chimney from this house is supposed to be the same one from the original amityville house (it apparently burnt down years ago.). That sort of explains how the dollhouse was hanging around, it was being stored in the shed near the old house. Yeah it dosent really make sense since this house is out in the desert in california but thats the movie logic for ya.

check the ``house`` serie from the 80s

New Generation:
This one too had those Nightmare on Elm Street style effects and atmosphere like the one with the Clock! Which my comment for didn't show up for some reason!?

The Amityville Dollhouse:
This one does look awesome! The Zombie Dad reminds me even more of The House franchise. If you've ever seen the 1st one the zombie ghost of the dad's old Nam buddy looks just like him just in commando gear.
Is it just me or does it look like they stole or reused the giant Gargoyle demon puppet from the Tales from the Darkside: Movie!? It looks just like it from the Lover's Vow part! That's another movie I'd love to see you do one this, Linkara!

Yes, you should do the 2006 remake and the Asylum mockbuster!!

Thanks for giving your quick thoughts on the Amityville films.

I do hope you do the Amityville Horror remake and the Amityville found footage film from the Asylum, the masters of terrible direct-to-video mockbusters and other monster crap.

I've always enjoyed the first few novels more than any of the movies, but this has been a nice look back at a selection of movies I've mostly not seen in quite some years. Whether or not you do any more Amityville movies, I hope you do keep up with this series, and even more so hope you hit the Poltergeist movies, which, by the by, it's my understanding that the some of these were originally penned to be before the tragic death of Heather O'Rourke.

As for doing quick looks at the remake and found footage one especially, Please do!

Lol, Phantasmagoria reference. Just re-watched Spoony's LP of that the other week.

I request that you do ones on the Batman movies between 1989 and 2012 in celebration of The Dark Knight Rises. It would be great to hear you compare the styles of Burton, Schumacher, and Nolan.

I just wanted to say I hope you'll continue 'A Quick Look At...' - I haven't seen any of the Amityville movies, but I enjoyed your... well, quick looks at them.

I've enjoyed this series.

Your quick look at, I mean, not the Amityville... I've seen the first one (and read the book), I honestly can't remember about the rest.

Keep up the Quick Looks!

Also, the guy in the second freeze-frame looks like he's imitating a chicken.

Yea I like these. Keep doing them. I suggest you do these with superhero movies at some point, (I think a lot of people want to know your opinions on them), but that's your call.

The Asylum actually mailed me a screener for the Amityville Haunting.

SPOILERS! It was boring. No one should pay a stupid amount of money for it hence why I've donated it to Linkara.
