Future Shock #1

A shocking tale about the future! ...Yeah, not really.

BONUS! A Quick Look at the movie the comic is based on - Future Shock!

Yea but the episode of MST3K that Soultaker was in was not big because of the movie. IT WAS BECAUSE JOEL CAME BACK!

Nice use of Steve Miller Band’s “Fly like an Eagle”!

Does anyone realize that Sauron might be a perv? Lewis, did you see the riff of Return of the King?
Sam: “The eye turned its gaze, Mr. Frodo.
Mike Nelson: “Maybe Eowyn is taking a shower!”

Nice quick cut to Army of Darkness “THIS IS MY BOOMSTICK! S-MART TOP OF THE LINE!”.

That’s no Dog! “It’s a Space Station!” LOL

Mike: “Our stories so far, utter madness.” Got that right.

“IT’S THE RAKE! GET THE GUN” I just fell of my seat at that part!

Love the Pokémon battle part. Great touch with that.

Ok, has Holokara hit rampancy, has he been on for seven weeks? In Halo, an AI goes rampant for being on for 7 years but seeing how Holokara is hologram, I guess the time period is shorter. And why did the story line go to this? I thought Linkara was trying to get his powers back and find The Gunslinger.

He is. It's all connected.

Sooooo the good doctor's plan is to control the world by turning a bunch of random worrywarts into raving street crazies? I mean, I feel like I'm watching Superman Returns: a bunch of random dull looping flight paths that wind up accomplishing nothing but showing us an exciting but meaningless climax.

So let's see, a crazy nerd, Jack the Ripper, and mind-nuking gingers. The Vorlons really DO suck at influencing humans. XD

I admit I liked Seal's version of Fly Like An Eagle better mostly because I'm a 90's Kid myself.

Also, I was kinda hoping you would cut to the classic 'face melting' scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark after what the guy said on the cover.

Futago said...

I don't like where the storyline is going tbh. Holokara scares the crap out of me, not even the Entity can claim that.

Jesse said...

Bimbos in Time < Future Shock- ever so slightly.

I want to but a lamp now.

Knew Harvey liked 90s Kid even if he drives him crazy. Holokara I think has broken the record at the fastest "robot-turns-evil" plot.

Futago said...

Oh and one other thing I noticed, you said that every storyline of yours is based on a different franchise and I get quite a bit of a GLaDos vibe from Holokara. Am I close...probably not.

It was definitely a shock when you mentioned where the comic was set, since it happens to be my hometown. Though it's actually pronounced Clem-en-tee, not Clement, since it's a Spanish pronunciation. But no worries, everyone outside of southern California gets that wrong.

What I really don't get, though, is why the woman went all the way to San Clemente to what she thought was a self-defense class. Even when the traffic is good (which it rarely is) Malibu to San Clemente is almost a two hour drive. I'm sure they have self-defense classes in Malibu. Yeah, it makes slightly more sense when you know she's going to see a psychiatrist, but -she- doesn't know that until she gets there.

And just for the record, as far as I know, there's no place in San Clemente called Hellfire. It's more a tourist town, lots of surfing and all that.

(on a more positive note, great reviews as always, sir)

Boy did this comic suck the big one! I gotta see the movie, and hope it's better than this.

Also, why didn't Harvey shoot the emitter? Didn't he know that holograms can't be physically harmed like that?

Peace1986 said...

Didn't care much for the comic, after the first arc the other stories are no longer a surprising, because we all know the twist.
Except for the ending, that was actually kind of well thought out.

Also, I expected better of Harvey, he should have aimed at the projector.
Then again, could be the same as why the military in World War Z failed in the beginning, they are hardwired to aim for the center of mass instead of the head.

Chessrook44 said...

I realize that Finevoice was probably emotional and angry, but all throughout that argument I couldn't help but think "Act a little calmer, act with logic, and maybe we can figure a less painful way to do this."

Specifically, mention that the action that nearly killed him was a bit far, and say that you think the hologram's AI is malfunctioning. When the AI says he isn't, simply explain that he would then have nothing to worry about in the case of a simple diagnostic scan.

Of course, that would cause even MORE worry if there actually ISN'T a malfunction.

boooratt said...

I wasn't sure at 1st but I think my aunt I use to live with when I was a little kid and watch 80s and 90s horror films with might've shown me this before because the middle section seems so familiar!!

Wow, the comic is so messed up and bad! All the characters either look a like or look like totally different actors than what were in the movie! The open scene guy that's head explodes looks like Michael Rooker in that 1st panel!
On the hormone thing they've actually did a test like this awhile back on human sexuality where they'd show attractive women in various states of undress and arousal to men and then randomly cut to different images to see how they react. Any thing from another male to scenes of brutal violence! If I recall right they found that men's reaction to another male was the same as that to an female, but that is mostly because of something to do with the smells we give off when our hormones are high have different meanings in different situations. Thank you Discovery Channel!

Future Shock seems like a very tacked on title to me like it was meant to be something else then they realized no one would go see it so they gave it a title that would trick people into theaters!

I am shocked though you didn't show the scene from Scanners in this video on that one part!

This comic does remind me heavily of the Silent Hill comics more than the Bimbos one! The bad kinda of bleached out art and impossible to fallow story and setting!

I do like the idea of Holokara as a kind of evil Vision style villain with the fazing powers and the ability to become dense to hit super hard!

Good Review. I was shocked at the potential rapists line.

On Holo-Kara: Hmm, I think that someone is getting a little too big for his holographic britches. He is becoming an interesting antagonist.

Anonymous said...

"Also, why didn't Harvey shoot the emitter? Didn't he know that holograms can't be physically harmed like that?"

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. I mean, he knew he was dealing with a hologram, so why didn't he aim for the only part of it solid enough to hit? I'm going to guess that he was both angry and slightly afraid at the time, so he was operating on autopilot.

As for the comic, there's no denying that it's incredibly confusing and stupid, but I wonder, is that only because it's such a watered down version of the source material? I mean, the way Linkara was talking, he didn't understand what was going on any better than the rest of us, and he saw the movie. So, is it supposed to be a prequel or what?

Either way, I'd say this was one of the more entertaining episodes, due to the sheer amount of crazy in every panel.

Perhaps Shock refers to Shock therapy, as the therapy was shocking!and future refers to the device.

Rellik San said...

Maybe it's in relation to the 2000AD short story segment "Future Shocks". Which would explain the title.

But that's purely conjecture.

Rellik San said...

Maybe it's to do with the 2000AD segments "Future Shocks" after all the set up is very similar; Short stories with a shocking twist at the end.

Holokara said...

I don't know what you're so upset or scared of Futago. I'm basically the same person as Linkara. I have all his memories and his personality. The only difference is that I can't be hurt as easily (that and the fact that my gun still works because it's holographic not magic).

Honestly, I don't want to hurt anyone. It's just that I have a lot on my plate right now and can't afford any distractions. My actions so far have been regrettable but unavoidable. I have a lot of very important things to worry about at the moment. If that means I need to be firm handed, so can I can get on with them, then so be it.

If I'd wanted to hurt 90's Kid or Harvey I'd just have pressed the pain receptors in their brains. Believe me that would have been far more painful. However I didn't because I'm not a bad person. I just wanted 90's Kid to listen for once and grabbing his heart was the fastest way to get his attention. Besides he stopped coughing blood after only a day so there shouldn't be any lasting damage. I didn't want to hurt Harvey, really I didn't, but he wouldn't listen to reason and he was being very rude. Besides, Harvey is tough I'm sure he will be fine when he regains consciousness. He's just not as young as he used to be and that's why I've let him rest for the past few hours. If he doesn't come round soon I'll let Linksano take a look at him.

Anyway I hope I've reassured you Futago. I do hope you'll now realise you don't need to worry about me because I'm not evil. By the way I found your comparison of GLaDos and me quite hurtful and I hope you won't post anything like that again because I'd hate to argue with a fan of the show.

(By the way grate review as alway Lewis)

Ok this is a little creepy. Harvey came on too strong and strangely I'm still on the ERH's side on this. If Harvey had shot the emitter it could have been fatal as it is the retaliation strike was about equitable.

And somehow in writing that I have forgotten if there was any point in the comic at all. Or anything good about it. Damn that sucked. And what's worse is that it had a holographic projection system in it. Almost like it was chosen to piss off the ERH for having to review it. It wasn't even shown to have any physical contact ability so how did that head explode? Was there any reason for it? Did the guy we are shown as being a doctor for this just really want to see a patient die? I don't get it.

Well time to watch the second video.

Anonymous said...

Maybe the movie is called Future Shock because the weird machine used in the therapy is the "electroshock therapy of the future" or something.

Grescheks said...

In the Quick Look at Future Shock, when the plane crash is shown...is that the same music from PSA Hell? Because if it is, that's quite the awesome coincidence that you happened to use the same music.

The Exiled One said...

Linkara: given that you used the theme from "Space Jam" as this episode's theme song, do you know if a "Space Jam" comic exists? And if it exists, will you ever review it?

You know what? A series of marbles that project an hologram of a hot half-naked woman that makes your head explode if you switch the hologram to one of a half-naked man...STILL makes more sense than vampire being uable to attack each other because "it's one of God's rules" (I'm sorry, but I still can't get over the fact that "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter" sucked balls!).

Wait, wait, did the scientist created the lamp, or did Satan create it? Make up your damn mind, comic!

Sooo...is it me, or is this the trippiest, weirdest comic since "Hakoiri Devil Princess"? i seriously have no idea what is going on half of the time in this comic!

--------

"Also, I was kinda hoping you would cut to the classic 'face melting' scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark after what the guy said on the cover."

Personally, I was hoping for a "Poltergeist" reference. "Don't go into the light, Carol Anne!".

"Also, why didn't Harvey shoot the emitter? Didn't he know that holograms can't be physically harmed like that?"

Harvey is mentally stuck in the 40s, so he has no real knowledge of how holograms work.

The Mad Scientist said...

Wow, I don't even know how to react to this comic. It's just...WHAT?????

Side note: Not sure how the storyline is progressing from here or when the Gunslinger will be coming back, but I highly recommend you look up the song "Lone Justice" by Anthrax for a future bit with the Gunslinger. Depending on how the character develops from here, it may be perfect. Give it a listen!

Robyn said...

That comic was terrible. Maybe not quite as awful as Bimbos in Time, since it didn't offend the human species, but still abhoringly bad.

It was nice to see Harvey Finevoice again. He's my favorite secondary character in the storyline.

By the way, considering how much power Linkara has and how likely he is to abuse it, is it possible that he'll do something evil or unethical? I understand if you can't give a direct answer, but this really has me curious.

Sijo said...

Knowing that the reviews are being hosted by Evil HoloLinkara makes them a bit creepy to watch now (though you forget quickly. ;) )

I think this comic IS worse than Bimbos in Time. That was just boring. This was actually stupid AND offensive!

Speaking of stupid, why'd Harvey shoot Holokara? Even if he's from a time before Sci-Fi, if he knew it could 'put his hand inside people' without opening them first, he could have suspected it would not work.

Still, the plot thickens, and that's good. Guesses:
*Its Mechakara! He's back!! This time for real!!
*He caused the whole thing with the gun to begin with, just to get Linkara to leave.

Let's see if I guess right.

FugueforFrog said...

You had me with the "Scanners Lamp" that randomly blows people's heads up. That really made zero sense, particularly with what happens in the comic. Honestly that deserves to be on an updated "Top 15 WTF moments".

Really neat with some of the transitions this time, waht with Pokemon music and Steve Miller. Didn't improve the comic but the comic was just insane to begin with, what with Satan's' Slut, all men being rapists, and just the weird paranoia going on. At least the movie made way more sense.

Sort of hope we get somehow closer to resolution to this "Holo-kara" mini-arc since with Harvey down now after 90s Kid, it's just not getting better with the real Linkara still wizard searching.

Mustango said...

The whole "all men are potential rapists" line, either directly or indirectly, stems from a 1993 incident at the University of Maryland where a group of female students plastered the campus with signs listing the names of every identifiable male in the student directory and the caption: "Notice: These men are potential rapists".

Good find with the Baltimore Sun article. I actually remember this controversy from when I was in college lo these many, many years ago.

It's a very strange thing for a character to say. The way mental illness is treated in this comic is quite frankly insulting.

Jeff Jacobson said...

IMDb says this movie is from 1994. The footage in the review looked a lot older than that.

Jeff Jacobson said...

Inception actually got its plot from a Scrooge McDuck comic called The Dream of a Lifetime.

So what's stopping Harvey and 90's kid from calling linkara about this? certainly they can just call him and tell him what's been happening here.

Linkara, I have conflicting emotions. I loved the review, but everytime I saw that thing on the hologram's arm, it just made me feel dirty.

I feel this storyline stands out from the rest as the villain..is the one delivering all the laughs..

MY EMOTIONS! YOU ARE TOYING WITH THEM!

Nitpicker said...

I hate to nitpick, but Holokara's line "There's nothing wrong with me" is really bugging me. It is well-known that a system cannot demonstrate its own consistency (Gödel's second incompleteness theorem).
In short, what this means is that a system (e.g., a circuit, a computer or an organism) can not check if it is working properly. That is why when we suspect that there is a virus in our computer we have to boot with a disk or cd that can perform the scan. That is also why in critical circuits the safety cutouts are external to those systems.

I understand that there are licenses with the physics that allow for teleportation, magic, and so on, but while those could be explained by knowledge that expands our current (e.g., the speed of light in the vacuum not being constant, ways to travel faster than the speed of light without distorting time, etc.), Gödel's theorems are rooted in the very basics of the number theory. I.e.: if those are wrong, we are doomed. Veeeeery doomed.

Again, it is nitpicking on a single sentence on a great review, but I am pissed off with books and movies ignoring this without providing any type of explanation.

Lewis Lovhaug said...

Oh, don't worry, I completely agree with you, Nitpicker. I actually liken it less to Godel and more the old idea that someone who is insane cannot recognize that they are insane, because judging insanity requires rational thought, and someone suffering from a form of insanity is, by definition, not thinking rationally.

LoneWolf said...

Just throwing this out there, but a lot of clinically paranoid people are schizophrenics, so why is the guy acting like they are mutually exclusive? Does he not know what schizophrenia is?

Anonymous said...

The comic: I always give adaptions some leeway when it comes to telling a version of the movie they're about. That doesn't give them a free pass to do something like this though, and this is said after watching your quickie on the movie itself.

Your Arc: Well Holokara is rational in terms of how he is expressing himself... If not what he's saying. Nimue should give his matrix a once over, since I'm fairly sure it's not a problem with the mobile emitter itself.

Fiery Little One

As a long-time-viewer-first-time-commenter, let me just say I enjoy your videos immensely, Linkara, and this one is no different. Looking forward to where this storyline heads.

Out of curiosity, is that Doug Walker doing the "Plot Convenience News" jingle?

Ozaline said...

I'd have no trouble with her line about all men being potential rapists and unmarried men being diseased if it wasn't for the comic placing an editors note explaining that married men can be that way too. After all she does suffer from paranoia and she may have grown up with those ideas as part of her upbringing. Am I wrong in thinking that the editors note kind of lends weight to and legitimizes those thoughts?

I'll have to check out the movie it looks pretty interesting. I think you did an excellent job on the movie critique... I'd love to see more of those from you.

Gyre said...

Harvey's a bit too attached to bullets. When dealing with the mob that's fine. Holograms require some out-of-box thinking.

At least this one isn't somehow connected to a dead god and getting a human hero to fight its battles against another god.

I also really liked "Hooker with a Heart of Gold" as well as this comic review. I met Brad at Wizard World Chicago Comic Con this weekend, and I have never met a nicer guy. I had a great time hanging with him. At the Con, they had ALL of the Starfleet uniforms on display from throughout the years. I tried to snap a photo of them for you, but the camera on my phone is crap. Also, since you showed an "Army of Darkness" clip, I saw Bruce Campbell there, too! Didn't personally meet him, but standing twenty feet away from awesomeness was pretty cool. When you do get to see and meet some awesome people, I can definitely see why you love going to all these Cons.

Anyway, I love the haywire Holokara. I can't wait to see where these storylines converge! I think you do a very admirable job with these stories as well as keeping your reviews highly entertaining. Both sides of the show live up to equal standards.

Since I'm very tired at 3 AM, I only watched the AT4W video, but it still made me laugh and smile. I'll watch the AQLA one later. I'm very much enjoying that series, too. Keep up the great work!

So... am I the only one that caught that the magic gun and all the rest of the magic stopped working seconds after Linkara announced he was unstoppable and that nothing could stand in his way, that all this might just be the magic gun cutting him down a peg and getting some humility back, and if that iz the case wouldn't it then be possible that holokara having been made before Linkaras pride got nocked down a peg, could then in turn be a representation of what could have happened if Linkaras magic hadn't been removed at the time thous making this less a villian arch and more a mortality tale?

Or am I just way off base cause no one else has suggested this.

D-doc said...

Great review as always but the for the comic itself I can only say one thing ... What? That one line caused me to do a double take.

Regarding the storyline Holokara seems to be rational in outlook, but its intentions seem murky. Looking forward to see how this connects to the rest of the storyline about the Gunslinger.

Gareth said...

I made a similar suggestion myself when the gun stopped working.

I made a reference to the time lord victorious. Doctor Who fans will know this as the time the doctor broke one of his most important rules and started to believe that no limits applied to him anymore.

I doubt we were the only ones to notice.

... And now I have to spread the word *Women's Coalition for Change, Erin Lane, Jessica True, Kelly Maron - Potential Neo-Nazis* over the internet. After all, to quote their own logic in defending such an act "if a woman was secure she wasn't a Nazi, she wouldn't be threatened by this list."

The real shame of it all is that this crude, insulting logic is still about today - With people thinking only men are capable of sexual assault and are barely intelligent creatures who will rape on sight.
The recent change to some major laws in the USA is just one example of this. If a man consumes any amount of alcohol before sex and the woman involved claims it was an act of rape she has viable standing for the accusation. Even if it was consensual and she talked him into it.
Or better yet, this poster the US Navy put up some time ago which is just as insulting as that bloody panel - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150207776267823&set=a.249644752822.138119.74281347822&type=1&pid=7224504&id=74281347822

I don't care how much you try to rationalize it in the comments, the Holokara stuff and the Gunslinger stuff are two seperate stories, Plain and simple. Because it seems you got sidetracked and forgot the Gunslinger was this story-arc's villain.

Hmmm, if the ways of the creature of light and the creature of magic are interwoven, does that mean I have to dig up that old quote again?

I think it was Arthur C. Clarke who once stated that "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" as Clark's Third Law.

Seeing that a mobile holographic projector - from our technologic point of view - is unexplainable, we cannot distinguish it from, say, any magic spell that Gandalf evokes, then the mobile Projector is a magical item (+5 to projection, I'd guess).

If my assumption would be correct (and Lewis can disprove me, since it's his show), then the (presumeably) magic-based Gunslinger obviously could influence a "Light Golem", which could be the D&D description for "Hologram".

Are you seeing where I'm getting at, audience? The Gunslinger might just use Holokara like a blacksmith uses a hammer - Holokara is merely a tool.

Never heard of this one
When I read the title, I thought you were going for the Future Shock series by 2000AD
Thought you finally snapped from all the black-and -white morality and started to rip on things simply for not being clean cut
(this is a reference to a comment someone posted on the Cinema Snob website, when you made a cameo in his Golden Girl review - they said that you could never truly enjoy "From Hell" because it has no capes or black-and-white-morality in it)

Anyways, the move does look interesting, I'm a big fan of horror anthologies

By the way, if you want to read some mighty fine Creepy Pasta, you should seriously try The SCP Foundation
It started out as a collection of Creepy Pastas, but evolved into a unique universe of it's own over time
It would make an excellent setting for a comic or TV show (it already spawned two fan-made survival horror games, and a minecraft mod)
http://www.scp-wiki.net/
(recommend checking SCP-004, SCP-019, SCP-049, SCP-073, SCP-076, SCP-079, SCP-085, SCP-087, SCP-096, SCP-106, SCP-131, SCP-173, SCP-217, SCP-231, SCP-261, SCP-294, SCP-354, SCP-420-J, SCP-423, SCP-457, SCP-513, SCP-583, SCP-682, SCP-683, SCP-701, SCP-826, SCP-895, SCP-914, SCP-953, SCP-999, SCP-1000)

And yeah, that whole "all men are potential rapists" attitude is what made me loose all of my sympathies for feminists
I support equalism

February 2012: Meets up with old long Defeated enemy. Who is now more of a threat.

Spring 2012: WHATEVER the fuck goes on in To Boldly Flee.

I must say that the current story arc is quite interesting.

I have this sneaking suspicion that the gunslinger wasn't the cause for Linkara's magic going ker-flooey, but one of two possibilities.

1) Linkara see's himself as a hero, a champion of good, but his little rant after his bout with 'The Gunslinger' is almost Villain Monologue material. His subconscious may have picked up on this and started to fight these impulses and as most of us know your whole mind must be focused in order to get magic to work.
2) Like above Linkara's continued fight against evil is turning him into the same type of person Lord Vice became. Fanatics like this are the reason a child soul became the power for the magic gun. Not wanting a friend to turn evil said magic gun creates an anti-magic field to shut down the bulk of Linkara's tools.

Just a thought, I may be completely off. As for Holo-Kara could be the run-time has been on too long or a computer program can't handle the full span of a human consciousness without resulting into madness.

I know other people already said this, but you really caught me off guard here
Thought you'd be reviewing the Future Shock anthology series by 2000AD

Are you sure they aren't somehow connected?
Would make for a "Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game" situation

And you really should give Harvey, or even 90s Kid, some tech lessons
One would expect that with all the stuff Link went through, he'd be expecting the hologram to go rogue (or be possessed by Mechakara or whatever)

On a side-note,
judging from some previews for the Superman titles that are floating around, it seems that you just can't get rid of some characters no matter how much you wish
they'll even survive a full-on continuity re-boot!

Sad news Linkara. Avengers Academy is ending at issue 39 this November.

"Actually, in cameos I'm usually reading stuff both good and bad. I decided to pick From Hell for it because I thought it'd be funny."

Thought so, alto when I thought you were going to rip into the classic of British sci-fi anthology comics (which also launched the careers of Peter Milligan, Alan Moore, and Grant Morrison), this accusation clearly came to mind

You seriously seem to have amassed quite a hatedom out there
It is a risk to mention you'r name on comic forums, as there's a 80% chance of getting flamed
It's like you've become an anathema to comic readers all over the net

and to my earlier post on the SCP
PewdiePie made let's plays of both SCP fan-games

The only one that I've actually heard of that gets pissy about me is Comic Book Resources' Spider-Man forum, and they only really seem to post about me when I bring up One More Day. And since I don't care to check it myself, I have been told that no one has actually made any legitimate arguments in defense of it, just attacks against me.

All over the net? Really?
Sorry, I don't buy it myself.
I was a former comic book reader as Archie comics kept burning me over the years in the bad story choices they made in their TMNT and Sonic comics. It's the same kind of nonsense you see reflected in DC and Marvel. It's like Archie didn't want me to buy their comics after they killed character after character or "Robotized" them. Or they canceled great spin-off comic series that were better than their main comic: See "Knuckles".

Yeah, I got to see one of my favorite teams get massacred by being shot in the back simply because their cartoon show didn't get green lighted. *cough* Mighty Mutanimals *cough*
No last heroic moment for them. Just "shot in the back" multiple times by Liefeld 90's villain rejects!

I still buy Graphic Novels and certain manga series, but I haven't bought a comic issue in a really long time. So I'm still a comic reader in some way. But I mostly visit comic book stores to buy for CCGs and RPG books...

My dad was also a reader and collector of comics and he fell for the gimmick comic publishers put out in the 90's. He's still in denial and doesn't listen to me when I tell him all those comics he bought are worthless. Sorta like what happened to Lee's dad with the baseball card companies.

The only thing that I may disagree with Linkara on some things is politics, but that rarely comes up in his reviews. Otherwise, he's the most respectful reviewer I've seen and his points are usually spot on. Especially when there are a few reviewers out there who are disrespectful towards their fans/viewers.

And just because you visit certain forums = does not equal every single person's opinion on the net. And there are other formats for discussion other than forums/message boards *Old internet timer: Class of 1995: Remembers when Usenet was mostly used*.

I guess I should say something about the comic's subject then: I love Soultaker! I guess I'll have to check for the Future Shock movie then!
Linkara, do you like The Final Sacrifice and Werewolf "Werewolves of New Mexico" too?

yeah, mostly Comic Book Resources
alto I've encountered allot of snark on other sites and forums as well
Mostly it's just personal attacks as mentioned above, but I've also encountered comments about you'r tastes being "questionable"
(for example, many people seemed to be genuinely upset about you preferring Superman, a series massively panned by critics, over the largely popular and highly regarded Action Comics)

When is Spoony going to release his ConBravo panel videos?

Okay, feedback. Not too much to say actually, it just featured your usual balance of humour and references. It mostly hit the right notes all the way through though the third story felt somewhat rushed, that might have been due to the lack of the completely insane moments as in the first two. The only bit I think didn't entirely work was the lamp review, but everyone else seemed to like it.

One question though. Was the initial bit with virtual reality supposed to be a hint of what's to come or just making fun of some elements from the comic?

Just making fun of elements from the comic. ^^ When I initially wrote it, I thought there would be a greater emphasis on virtual reality, since all the descriptions for the comic and movie brought it up.

It's the rake get a gun line had me laughing my pants off. Hey linkara I was wondering what are your thoughts on judge dredd? He's the closest thing the uk has to a superhero well there's captin Britan and I think psycloke is British but I'm not to sure. I can't Accutully think of any judge dredd comics that so bad they could be featured on the show. Well maybe judgement day, it's basicly judge dredd vs zombies. It is a good concept but a to much of a focus on confusing conituy and the needless killing of almost all of dredd's supporting case just ruins it.

Every time I watch a solid-lighy hologram with an emitter getting shot at, I keep thinking 'you know, there's a reason we organics keep our vital organs on the inside'. Especially to Voyager's doctor.

Holokara:
"My actions so far have been regrettable but unavoidable."
We understand. Really. Just don't hurt me, okay?

"He's the closest thing the uk has to a superhero well there's Captin Britan and I think Psycloke is British"

Well, given that she's his sister...
If you're going mainstream Marvel there, you've got Union Jack, Excalibur, ClanDestine, MicroMax, and various and sundry.
DC has Lady Godiva, at least.

Wow, I never even heard of a film called Future Shock till you posted the review and a Quick Look at short.

This comic is bad, though I don't think it will reach the level of Bimbos in Time. Still, it would have been better as a 24-page comic instead of a 12-page comic.

Meanwhile, things are getting worse with Holokara . . . Next thing we'll see is a plotline from 2001: A Space Odyssey with the other characters trying to dismantle Holokara.

Holokara is really becoming a issue, too bad no one there has a sonic blaster weapon, and too bad Harvey didn't aim for the hologram emitter.

Then again the story would be over to easy if he did.

I think that Holocara is starting to malfunction or is starting to become a different entity separate from the Holo deck and lately he's been giving out I'm becoming evil vibes. Shouldn't Harvey have went to Linksano first since that Mad Scientist has control over the holodeck ? . But than again, Harvey likes to nip things in the bud when Linkara isn't around.

I'm a little confused as to where the joke originated that you review lamps came from. I thought it was from To Boldly Flee, but this review came out before it. So where did it come from?

Well, that's kind of funny, actually. XD It ORIGINATED in the script for To Boldly Flee. However, Sad Panda then included it in his "Top 10 TGWTG Reviewers" video, which was released before To Boldly Flee, and the fans latched onto it.
