Oh, Lewis, you did not disappoint with this. Hearing Moarte begin the episode honestly made me jump and shiver, and I am really excited to see the rest of these tales! Excellent job, and I hope you do this next year too. :D
Well i just have to say this , you are not a reviewer with story lines and decent acting but i see that you are an exelent story teller .
ill be locking forward to tomorrows video
I've already tweeted this to you, but this deserves a round of applause from the entire internet. It's great! The host is a great combination of both "Linkara" as a brand new character. Plus, it provides some nice background on the comic and the franchise.
Can't wait to see more!
Interesting, horror anthology series work pretty well for me. I watches Tales from the Cryptkeeper as a kid so may it's that.
Sounds like something I can sink my teeth into. Good start for the series, can't wait to see more!
I say we're off to a pretty good start. Just saw Galaxy of Terror on Monster Madness 2012 and then this. October s already giving me the chilly-willies!
Been meaning to read this series for a while (in fact I was going to when it was coming out in issues, but then it's end was announced so I thought I'd stick to trades instead). And great start to the series, looking forward to the rest.
Nice work on this video good job
So is this good horrors left to rot in the long box of the damned? Because that Anthology Horror isn't what I would consider bad. Not the scariest but not bad.
Wow, Mureto is loud. Maybe he and the Gate Cleaner can have a shout off.
"So is this good horrors left to rot in the long box of the damned? Because that Anthology Horror isn't what I would consider bad. Not the scariest but not bad."
It's just horror comics in general, neither specifically good or bad.
I hope you didn't trip when you went so far over the top!
LOVED it! It's going to be a GREAT month!
In the opening, I can see Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E. Is that really horror?
I am totally going to start shipping Moarte with Radu and Maven.
I really like what you did with this episode! Makes me wish this type pf show/character isn't only around for Halloween.
lol Lewis, you've made an awesome new character with all the hamminess expected of you :p
Though if you don't mind a suggestion, can you give him some sort of change or quirk that sets him apart from all other kinds of scary storytellers like him? It may come off as a little overused.
Ooooh, this is gonna be a good month! :)
Most of the time I stray away from horror stories but when it's October well let's just say the devil in me gets to come out and play.
Excellent start Lewis!
This will be a great addition to October and Halloween in general for me!
This, I can dig.
Good start
love the character
and great choice of title too!
Hot damn Lewis, you just sold me with both this show and the comic. I demand more. *lighting strikes*
I like the reveal when you pull back the cape and reveal the shock white vest and gloves. Great sense of design you've got there.
Oh, Moarte, you wicked man you.
I am definitely enjoying this first installment. Can't wait for more!
While I enjoy Moarte as an overall announcer in the sort of Crypt Keeper style, I somewhat hope you won't be doing the entire review for each comic in that voice.
O.O eep! *goes to hide under the covers* Man that intro creeped me out. Loved Tales from the Crypt but the intro always got me...every damn time lol. Great work as always!
Ok this is going to be a fun series. I have Monster Madness from James Rolf and now Longbox of the Damned from you Lewis. I enjoyed this and I hope it gets better and better as the month goes on. I hope to learn somehting about Horror comics the next 31 days. Thanks Lewis :)
Definatly an interesting new idea for the site. I'm all for something new while enjoying the tried and true. I'll be keeping up with the series. I'm not much for horror movies, mainly because horror now means mass gorefests and not the psychological aspect that horror should focus on more like it use to. But I will take the time out of my day to watch the episodes as they release. Here's to a new property being born and to its success. keep it up man.
That's great. Loved the opening, simple but highly intriguing. And I want more of the shatner-sized ham that is Muerto. Anyway, great job, can't wait till tomorrow!
So, is Moarte going to show up on Atop the Fourth Wall at all?
Good god on a scale between 1 - 10, 1 being a simple eep and 10 being losing control and function of every bodily fluids as well as the organs going out with them. Your Cryptkeeper impression is 11 on the Scare-o-meter.
I like this Moarte guy! Especially since he has the same accent as Hank Ishtar. They do both live in tombs, maybe it's a cultural thing.
Well you certainly didn't disappoint. As a horror fan I definitely am looking forward to the upcoming episodes. I wonder if there's anything Lovecraftian in that longbox :).
I know it's only the first episode, but Muerte is shaping up to be a VERY fun character, Lewis. I just love how into this role you are; it really shows and just makes this all the more fun to watch.
Tell me, is his look based off an existing horror figure(he kind of reminded me of Coffin Joe)? Or has this vision of a comic horror host just been in your head for a long time?
I'm probably in the minority here, but I didn't find Moarte all that intriguing. I understand you don't want this to be merely "Monster Madness... with comics!" but Moarte sounds like pepe le pew on cigarettes to me.
"Tell me, is his look based off an existing horror figure(he kind of reminded me of Coffin Joe)? Or has this vision of a comic horror host just been in your head for a long time?"
The look is inspired by Lon Chaney, Sr. in the lost film "London After Midnight," sans pointy teeth and long hair. ^_^
You know, when you announced this I wasn't sure if you were dedicated or utterly insane for trying to make one episode per day. Even after learning they're five minutes long i'm still not sure.
Still, this was a seriously enjoyable episode and I did like the style Moarte had going for him. Especially the evil laugh. Did you spend a while working on the voice?
I'd say Longbox of the Damned is off to a good start! From the sounds of things, it only gets scarier from here. I'm normally not much of a horror fan, but this promises to be a fun thing to do for October.
I'm infinitely jealous of your ability to roll your 'r's. You showed it off cosplaying Sylvester McCoy with Nash, as well.
I wonder who is worse off... Moarte, for being cursed to guard the Longbox of the Damned, or Linkara, who is cursed to review bad comics. :D
Dude, this is badass. Keep it up!
I'm sorry, but I just don't like this. It's like if "Screaming Horror Theater" was reworked as a review show.
I'm sorry, but I never liked "Screaming Horror Theater" (even the growth scenes were kind of blasé compared to Gary Pranzo's stuff, and most of them were just a gimmick to get the attention of the viewers anyway), so I'm not interested in seeing Lewis ripping it off for his site.
In the end, if I want funny reviews of horror stuff...I'll stick with Phelous.
Awesome. I've been so looking forward to this and feel my wait was well worth it.
The only down side I see to this is completely on my end is that my local comic shop is in the process or prepping a new location and move so can't check their massive set of older issues until they're done. This comic looked pretty interesting.
Muerte sure looks Fangtastic.
I do enjoy a good host around Halloween time. I'll be looking forward to my daily dose of this vamp.
I am LOVING this, so far. The Moarte character is fun and it's great that you have a "Horror Host" for this show.
And, with such a wealth of great and not-so-great horror comics out there, you'll have plenty of material.
Nice job, Lewis!
Fantastic first episode for this mini-series Linkara... I love the persona, it's delightfully over the top and very energetic. I love the props, and the way you dressed up the set... it really looks like it could be a set on House of Frightenstein or a similar show.
This month is going to be a blast, more of your videos is never a bad thing.
So Lewis will Morate become a regular or at least make guest appearances on at4w after Halloween cuz he's a really entertaining character I tip my hat to you sir on all your hard work cuz it definitely pays off
Did anybody else notice the Mr Freeze cameo?
Oh my good it´s "Simco the undead Magician".
Say Linkara why does a lot of That Guy Reviewers tell us to write complaints to "LewisLovhaug@ChannelAwesome.com" is this some inside joke is missed?
Your voices aren't bad, but I think I hear a bit of Linksano in this one.
I probably won't watch this; horror isn't really my thing. But good luck to you.
"Let's hope you won't leave it to ROT in the LONGBOX for TOO LONG! MUAHAHAHAHA!"
*gives mylar sleeves*
I've come across the house of mystery in Justice League Dark (Constatine owns it or t least claims to) I didn't realise that it was something with its own series. I will have to give it a look sometime.
Wow this series seems really interesting if I had some extra money I'd consider getting the back issues. I'll definitely keep an eye out for these in the dollar bin though.
Yeah I agree, you just can't get enough of that madman.
Umm...Moarte is from Romania ,but the Hank Ishtar accent is pretty obvious
And yet Moarte is still less over the top than Terl from Battlefield Earth
For some reason, I keep watching this episode over and over again. I guess Moarte really does use mind control then
I found a copy of this at my library yesterday. The stories are pretty good. "The Hollows" in particular is wonderfully gory.
