hello, i know this is a blip problem and something that you have no control over, but i felt obliged to let you know that blip has been down for at least the past hour now.
until then, DFTBA.
YESS!!! It's about time! I was seriously going to call BS if you went through this whole month without doing this comic.
Say Yes all you want I'm still waiting for Blip to come back online. Its what 3 hours now?
Figures I make another comment on it not working and it finally comes back 3 min later. Great Comic. Hey any chance of getting Channel Awesome to do a Fan Film of this? I think there might be enough connections to get some pro advice and maybe even some casting help.
Think about it Hollywood is going down and so is Main Stream Satellite and Cable TV. Soon Channel Awesome and The Blaze will be the main games in town. And both now have Studio space. Think about it.
Studio Space is the main reason I didn't also include Pat the NES Punk, or Cinnemassacre.
This was so good, I don't want to wait a year for more. Happy Halloween!
Blip should be back on now for all those who've been waiting as patiently as you have. (It has actually been closer to 5 hours that Blip was down) Anyways, I just watched this review and I have to say, I was not disappointed. After watching your Jason vs. Jason X video, I really didn't think you were going to cover this six-issue masterpiece. I'm glad you did, and this is the perfect way to end your first "Longbox of the Dead" month! I first saw Freddy vs. Jason when I was 13, and it was a fantastic match-up, and an even better film. I remember first finding the 17-page script treatment leaked onto Bloody-Disgusting.com a few years back and reading through the entire thing, only to find out the film got cancelled the same day. I am glad that the plot from it wasn't wasted, and I am glad to see you end LotD on such a high note. Happy Halloween, Linkara!
PS: What are you going for on Halloween, tonight?
Freddy+Jason+Ash=AWESOME!!!!!!!!
if you think this is awesome, Pinhead was originally supposed to make a cameo at the end of Freddy vs Jason
This comic might just be one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen...
That was awesome. Really impressive work this month, and I hope you do it again next year.
Congratulations and have a super Samhain, Lewis!
Hmm, too bad this wasn't made into a movie. This looks fun, I actually didn't think it'd get made at all until I heard it became a comic book in 2006.
Well, all good things must come to an end but it was worth the 31 days. See you next Moarte.
What's the music at the end from? It's one of those pieces that gets put everywhere and you never know the name.
Finally, my soul is put to rest with the Evil Dead comic comments.
I hope I wasn't annoying.
About time!! :) I always loved this comic. An epic crossover with horror's two greatest slashers and the king himself. Oh yeah.
I just wanted to say well done, Lewis. You really did a great job this time around.
Will you be doing similar things with other seasonal events, or do you see this as being just for October?
Well, sir, congratulations on not only keeping up with the video-a-day schedule but making all 31 entertaining and delightful as well.
Hope to see this again next year.
You know what? I honestly got a little misty-eyed at the end of this one. I've really enjoyed watching the Longbox every morning with breakfast, and November's going to be a little emptier without it.
Fantastic job, Linkara. I've enjoyed every one of these, and hope we get to see Muerta again next Halloween... MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!
(Hey, if he's not going to end with a sinister cackle, someone's got to make up for it!)
"What's the music at the end from? It's one of those pieces that gets put everywhere and you never know the name."
"Building the Deathcoaster / End Titles" to Army of Darkness.
Oh, this comic is something that gets a good me Gusta reaction out of me .It sends shivers of delight down my spine and that just comes from hearing about its summary . Deep down, ever since I heard about it before awhile back I wondered if this comic would've appeared . I hope Moarte and the Longbox returns next year. Damn, the movie would've been awesome.
Major congratulations on a hard working month! This is a GREAT way to end it. I'm a fan of all three film franchises, but I never sought this comic out. Back in 2003-2005, while running my old horror movie website, I was in regular contact with New Line Cinema executive Jeff Katz who wrot the original treatment for "Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash." The guy even sent me the teaser poster for 'FvJ' for helping dispell some false rumors about the movie.
This definitely seems like it would've made for an AMAZING movie! Unfortunately, Sam Raimi wouldn't grant the rights to do it. I will keep this comic series in mind. I might check it out one day.
I'm also proud to say that I fulfilled my promise on my movie reviews blog for posting one new written horror movie review every day in October. Ultimately, I posted up 41. I just closed it out with reviews of the original and remake of "The Omen." The Longbox of the Damned inspired me to do this. While it was daunting, it was entirely worthwhile. I really have a lot of respect for what you did. I was just doing written reviews of movies while you were doing video reviews of comics. If I tried that, I'm not sure I would have been so successful. So, my respect goes out to you, Lewis. You did a fantastic job with LOTD. Farewell, Moarté, for now!
i love how they also tied ash into thd marvel zombies as well. the first army of darkness series is actually part of the marvel zombie storyline. now they need to get freddy and jason in onthat too
What a great ending for a spectacular series Lewis. I look forward to the next time the long box opens and Morate rises again.
I really enjoyed LBotD. I'm not normally one for horror comics but you gave me a lot of interesting reads to look for. I can't wait till next time. Thanks for all the great work.
This was an epic way to end the month. I know it was a bit much getting the daily LOTD out with the story line filming as well but this was so damn fun. Thank you so much for all the work you put into this.
And damn I've got a lot of comics to hunt down.
Awesome end to a fantastic month.
My God. You did it. You really did it! You did a review a day all month--and made each one fantastic! Nicely done, Lewis. (Get some rest if you can! :)
I'd also like to extend my congrats to you for fulfilling your goal of a review a day. A job excellently done.
The long box has been a very enjoyable ride. I know generally people only like it when a reviewer is hating on something, but what made long box so good is that you're clearly having lots of fun talking about stuff you love. That fun is contageous and we smile along with it.
It doesn't have to be with any regularity, but I'd love if you did the occasional 5 or so minute review of comics you like and want to recommend to others. You look at enough crap on a weekly basis so I think it would be good for you (and us) :)
This's been an /awesome/ series! I really loved the nice five minute bits to go with breakfast every day, and it was a great buildup for Halloween despite not much going on in my daily life. Plus, it was nice to hear about good comics, too XD
I'm glad to hear it'll be back next year, but I hope you can relax a bit with "only" the weekly show to do again.
((And wow, my flash player did /not/ want me to watch this. It literally crashed every time I clicked play until I opened a new internet window. Guess that's my 'trick' for the night...))
Now that the Longbox of the Damned has concluded for this year, all I can is; It was awesome!
This was one of the most awesome shows you have ever done Linkara. The horror comics you've recommended all sound awesome and Moerte...oh me oh my, I love this guy. He's dark, goofy, gloriously cheesy, sinister and I seriously hope you find some way to work him into the AT4W canon.
I hope you do this again next year Linkara. :)
P.S. I actually have a few Omnibuses of Hack/Slash (it's pretty awesome). May I ask which is your favourite story of Hack/Slash Omnibus Vol.1 that you highlighted a few days ago?
Untill we see you again, Moarte! May your bones remain intact and your voice so gloriously scary!
Very nice. and an enjoyable event overall this past month. Thank you.
Missing that pasty creeper already. I hope "Longbox" makes a 2013 appearance. Or, failing that, Moarty should definitely cameo in At4W, especially since you've already confirmed in character that he's in your apartment somewhere. ;) Guess I'll just have to wait and see where you were going with that.
Very nice series over all. I liked that it was a different tone and different look from Atop the Fourth Wall and the comics were generally enjoyable, I read many of them and agree with the assesment. I look forward to more installments next year.
Freddy Vs Jason Vs Ash is a favorite of mine. I hate the fact that we can't get it in live action (Though Bruce is working on a movie called "Bruce vs Frankenstein" that he's trying to get all the horror guys in on. Calling it the expendables for horror)I love Jeff Katz work, have since he and Johns brought Booster Gold back into prominence.
Anyways, great work this month Lewis. Really awesome stuff and I hope the character shows up again before next october!
One word of advice for LotD 2013: Try to make it as memorable as last year. In the mean time, I'll just enjoy At4W. But I might still be thinking about Moarte, I think of that madman whenever I can @_@
HELL YEAH! I'd see that movie in heartbeat to Ash Williams cut some zombies.
Just out of curiosity did you hear about the Evil Dead remake?
Dang it Moarte, stop invading my dreams!!!!
