Atop the Fourth Wall Holiday Shopping Guide
I WAS going to do this in video form, but that keeps getting pushed back as I try to get other stuff done with and frankly, with the need to get this out before the first December episode hits, I think it's fine if I just modify that video to being a commercial at the end of an episode, instead.
As such, here are some fine products that you, as an Atop the Fourth Wall fan, you should be buying for the holiday season!
The Atop the Fourth Wall vol. 1 DVD!
As a reminder, the DVD contains THREE new episodes, a 20-minute making-of featurette, and a 35-minute video where I ramble about my characters. And because of the holiday season, THE PRICE HAS DROPPED! From now until January 1st, 2014, the DVD is now only $15!

The Harvey Finevoice Christmas Album!
Part of the reason why this post has taken so long is because I intended to add two new songs to the album to encourage people to buy new songs and whatnot. Sadly, time has not permitted me to get that done yet, but if you haven't gotten the album yet, now is your chance! I will make another announcement on twitter and tumblr when the songs are available. They'll be "If You Should Want the Moon" (finally released after so many years) as well as "Thankful Heart" from last year's Christmas episode! Well, assuming the license to sell the cover actually goes through, but like I said - I will keep people updated on that.
You can buy the album here!
Atop the Fourth Wall T-Shirts!
As always, T-shirts are available for sale! Some of them are quotes, some of them are amusing little designs, and some of them are the logo. Express your adamantium rage, ask when the next History of Power Rangers is coming, or declare "Bees, My God" for all the world to see!
You can buy the shirts here!
MAGFest and HelioCon
Yep, not only am I going to MAGFest again this year, but also to a new convention: HelioCon! As per usual, I'll be doing live shows at both and I'll be selling con-exclusive stuff like badges and prints! With MAGFest, it's also the biggest gathering of TGWTG producers in the USA, so it's the best chance to see as many of us as you can!
Before you ask, no I do not know when the live shows will be. I will try to keep people updated as new information comes.
MAGFest: January 2-5th at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland! You can of course check it out HERE!
Helio-Con: A speculative fiction convention on January 26th at the MCL Grand Theater in Lewisville, Texas!
History of Power Rangers
No update! What a shocker. Still hoping to get Overdrive watched and over with by the end of the year. I have no opinions about MegaForce as of yet. I prefer to reserve judgment of any series when it actually completes, not when they arbitrarily split a season in half and add "super" to it due to Nickelodeon's bizarre practices.
Special Christmas video
Hoping to have something really special for you on Christmas Day. As with the special AT4W episode a few weeks ago that didn't come to pass due to time constraints, I make no promises, but the good news is that the Christmas video will hopefully be something a little easier to put together despite being a longer video. Subsequently, let me ask: would you prefer something that was an hour and 20 minutes long be split into multiple videos or one long video with a commercial break or two?
Youtube Syndication Page
In case you missed it the last time, the Atop the Fourth Wall syndicated youtube page is still happening! At the time of this post, all of 2012's Longbox of the Damned is up, History of Power Rangers through SPD have been uploaded, and I have begun posting the twice-weekly Atop the Fourth Wall old episodes, most recently Sultry Teenage Super-Foxes #1 and the Top 15 Worst Heroes Becoming Villains! Next up is Daredevil #305 and #306, the two-parter that introduced the utterly crappy villain known as the Surgeon General! It's also the second time the "Previously On..." segment was ever used, so check it out this Monday!

November 4th Episode Delayed until Tuesday November 5th
Heyo, everybody.
Halloween week has been more than a bit hectic, I'm sorry to say, mostly as a result of me heading out to Youmacon today. Unfortunately, when creating videos, I have to prioritize things in terms of what comes out when, so putting together Longbox episodes (yeah, due to attending a wedding in another state, I lost my buffer of Longbox episodes and was usually about 1-3 episodes behind, these last three days only getting one done each day until the end), getting the live show for Youmacon ready, doing the storyline finale, recording some stuff for other people, preparing the new theme song, having to leave for Youmacon today, and just life in general, the Atop the Fourth Wall episode for November 4th is not completed.
Normally this wouldn't be a huge problem and I could just get it done when I got back... eeeexcept this year we're breaking with custom and I won't be returning home until Monday afternoon instead of Sunday late afternoon. There's progress that's already been made on editing the episode, but unfortunately it's just not complete and it won't be ready by Monday morning or even Monday evening. I took a quick poll on Twitter and they said they'd prefer the episode be pushed back to Tuesday instead of having a double feature the following week, so that's what we're going with. I always hate screwing with the schedule or missing the day, but there's simply nothing that can be done. In five years and 260+ episodes, I've only missed the Monday release schedule four times - in the beginning, when I didn't HAVE the Monday release schedule, after the Entity finale, when I was up all through the Monday of that day getting it done, when I was sick and attending GatoCon RIGHT after the "Gun and Sorcery" storyline, and now this. It bugs me to do so ANY time, but as you can see, the pattern here is storyline finale + convention usually has issues with me. Still, look for the episode on Tuesday morning and I'll keep you guys updated on any other delays or issues that may arise.

EDITED TO ADD:
Two people I forgot to give thanks to (and rendering this already takes like an hour and a half):
-Lanipator
-Jamie Soar for his musical piece "A New Identity." If you've seen the episode, you know what it is.
-Jackson Marriott for the continued use of his sound effects collection he gave me.

State of the Wall: 9-30-13 (And October 2013 Trailer!)
Well, time again to see what's coming up in the next two months and general other updates!
More details under the cut!
Schedule of Upcoming Episodes
10/7 – The Thing from Another World: Climate of Fear #1-2
10/14 – The Thing from Another World: Climate of Fear #3-4
10/21 – Spider-Man: Crossfire
10/28 – Surprise Review and the Finale of the "Ghost of the Machine" storyline.
SECRET ORIGINS MONTH
11/4 – Showcase #4
11/11 – Tales to Astonish #27
11/18 – Showcase #22
11/23 – POTENTIAL EXTRA EPISODE
11/25 – Journey into Mystery #83
As always, the reviews are subject to change, but obviously there are a few things to discuss. Yes, as always, I'm keeping the storyline finale's review a secret until it hits. And we've got Secret Origins Month and while currently I don't plan on doing a team book this year, that might change - the ones I decided to do this time were to get us speeding forward for a few other things for next year (COUGHAVENGERSCOUGH). That being said, if something gets replaced, it'll probably be one of the two Showcase reviews if I decide to end up doing a team book instead. You probably also noticed the potential extra episode. The date should be significant to any Doctor Who fans out there. Given it's the 50th anniversary and I've recently been made aware of several certain Doctor Who comics, I MIGHT try to do an extra review on November 23rd, but no promises.
Storylines
Which brings us to an important thing to talk about concerning future storyline stuff. Some of you may have felt that the Ghost of the Machine storyline was too short, especially after last year it took up pretty much all of the summer through to February. Well, it has come to my attention just how stressful and how much extra work doing storylines really is to me, especially when trying to get side projects finished. As such, I'm going to try something different for the next year or two.
Previously, storyline finales occur in mid-February in honor of when I started the blog. Instead, while I will continue to try to do a double feature in mid-February, storylines will end in October in honor of when the videos started and because, well, Halloween. And indeed the next two storylines I have planned will continue to be horror-themed and I look forward to trying out some new stuff that I've been hinting at. I think the thing that's killed me in previous storylines was that I'd try to do a double feature AND a storyline finale, which just was too much for me to do alone, especially now that I'm adding more people to the cast besides myself. Longbox of the Damned, while strenuous to do 31 additional videos, are actually fairly easy to put together considering how short they are and because I have such a head start on them, so October SHOULD be easier on me as long as I can continue to plan ahead (all but one or two scripts of the Ghost of the Machine storyline were written well in advance). Storylines will take a back seat until 2014 after this one ends, giving me time to complete some other projects before I try to push forward another one.
The name of the next storyline will be announced once "Ghost of the Machine" concludes.
Batman 1966 Crossover with Blockbuster Buster
Can you believe I completely forgot to put this up on the blog? And because I didn't want it to get lost in the shuffle of upcoming Longbox posts, here's the crossover and the bloopers from it!
Aaand bloopers and behind-the-scenes pictures!
Lightbringer
Well, it's finally time to just do this: I am releasing Lightbringer to the public domain.
I've been reluctant to do this for a while, partially out of a desire to go back to it, partially because a friend of mine said I shouldn't in case someone else gets it big and starts making money off of it, but I can't sit and wait for that to happen. If no one's working on it, then nothing will happen with the character. I started Lightbringer because I was an angry, opinionated 17-18 year-old who really wanted to make comic books and saw webcomics as the best way to do that. I was a crappy writer and a crappier artist who didn't understand how a lot of comic books actually WORK, but it got people interested and excited to some degree. I tried to keep up with it as my interests and focus shifted towards more criticism instead of writing and my schedule became much more hampered by other projects that I needed to do in order to get money, but the passion just isn't there like it once was.
I still wanted to do right by the character, especially since the artist at the time, Sergio, still wanted to work on it, so I asked people if they were interested in writing and I got plenty of submissions... which I never found time to sit down and read. I'm glancing through most of them now, mostly because I feel bad that I never got back to these people. It's my own fault for opening the floodgates when I wasn't ready for it, so my sincerest apologies go out to all the people who submitted pitches or were really enthusiastic about it. I hope you still are and are trying to do interesting things with your own writing and artwork. And hopefully now you'll have the opportunity to do so with Lightbringer if you so desire with my full blessing.
Now what does me releasing it to the public domain MEAN exactly? Well, it means the character and the pages that I produced (you'd have to check with the other artists' themselves for permission to use their artwork, since I'm only releasing MY work into the public domain) are free to be printed, reused, and altered by people any way they see fit. If you want to create your own story and use all the characters in Lightbringer with it, even horribly mutilate them as some kind of catharsis for hating me for some reason and then print it for money... yep, that's completely within your right. If you want to tell new stories with Lightbringer and the characters, you're free to do so as well. That being said, once YOU create something with it, that's yours to do with as you see fit. No one else can reproduce YOUR work with the character, since you've basically created something new and original by your hands. It just means that if someone else wants to make their own interpretation of the character, they can do that, too, as long as the work they're doing with it is their own.
What does that mean for the actual Lightbringer webcomic page? Eh, probably just going to leave it to die on its own if it hasn't already. By this point, Sergio has long since moved on with his own work, including his current webcomic Thirteenth Child, so he probably won't be available to work on it if you were still hoping to do so.
I'm still proud of what I did with Lightbringer, even though most of it is bad. It taught me new tools to use in art programs, the harsh criticism I received helped get me on track for producing slightly better stuff and, at least, taught me more about the medium and eventually into criticism as a profession. A lot of ideas that I have for Lightbringer's future I may end up using in Atop the Fourth Wall itself, but otherwise if you ask me about some of the stuff I had planned or at least ideas I had, I'll answer them.
Still, I'm hoping that some of you out there will produce something more with it than I ever did and I wish all of you the best of luck. ^_^
Revolution of the Mask
Speaking of comics I'm actually still working on, believe it or not Issues 3 and 4 of Revolution of the Mask are DONE. Completed! Fully! Sooo, why am I not posting a link to them yet? Mostly it's because I haven't figured out where to put them. Brain Scan Studios seems to have all but dissolved, meaning I can pretty much put them anywhere, but I wouldn't mind hearing some suggestions where I can send them off, especially if I wanted to have physical copies, since that's something a lot of people have expressed interest in. I'm still proceeding with Revolution despite everything else and I hope you enjoy the direction where things go in the next two issues.
Longbox of the Damned
Longbox of the Damned begins tomorrow at 7 AM and continues every day through October!
History of Power Rangers
Because of the change in storyline stuff, I'm going to have free time starting in November to work on History of Power Rangers again, so hopefully we'll have a new episode to cover Operation Overdrive come November/December. As always, no promises and things may end up delaying me for one reason or another. This one's going to be a slog, anyway, I can assure you.
Youmacon
I WILL be attending Youmacon this year! Right now I'm just waiting on final confirmation of stuff, but my hope is to have a big damn celebration this time, since I'll be celebrating Atop the Fourth Wall's 5th anniversary! If things go according to plan, I'll have giveaways, a fun game or two, Q&A, and a few other things I'm thinking up to do for the big celebration. And if things don't go how I'd like, well you'll get a live show, at least.
Youtube
I'm going back to Youtube!
WAIT! WAIT! Before you post anything, let's get some things out of the way that I'm sure you're going to be asking.
-NO, I am NOT leaving ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com or Channel Awesome.
-NO, I am NOT leaving Blip.
-NO, I am NOT posting new episodes/videos on Youtube.
Here's what's happening: people have been uploading my videos without my permission to youtube for quite a while. This steals revenue and potentially new fans from me that could be obtained through youtube if they were coming to TGWTG, the blog, or my Blip channel. However, people DO go to youtube for the videos for legitimate reasons, primarily that there's something in their browser/connection speed/advertisements/flash player/etc. that causes issues with them trying to watch it on blip. I am sympathetic to this, but there's not really much I can do seeing as I am not the man who programmed Blip's players nor do I know anything about programming or computer fixes in general other than doing Google searches and hoping I don't break something.
For all these reasons, I've decided to start uploading videos to my youtube page again. HOWEVER, ad revenue that I get from Blip is still more than I get from youtube and thus is my primary source of income. And because I need to eat and have a place to live, the focus of my videos will still be on Blip. Basically, my youtube page is going to become my syndication channel. Starting tomorrow, I'll begin uploading last year's Longbox of the Damned on a daily basis and then following that History of Power Rangers and older episodes of Atop the Fourth Wall (the first 20 or so episodes are already on there) will begin appearing weekly (thinking of two old episodes per week until a certain point, then weekly to make sure they're not up simultaneously). Older Atop the Fourth Walls may end up getting edited slightly if a legitimate copyright claim IS made, but I'll try to make it seamless or if it's like end credits music I'll just replace it with the theme song. Videos WILL be monetized over there and no, I do not know if the "Skip Ad" button prevents me from getting revenue, same as for Blip videos (I've never had a Skip button appear on Blip ads, myself).
What's kept me from doing something like this in the past is copyright claims. Youtube is filled to the brim with Bots that patrol youtube, look for a screenshot or something from a copyrighted movie/tv show/song/etc. and flag it for removal regardless of length or Fair Use for the purposes of a review. From experience with talking to LittleKuriboh and his issues with trying to keep Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged on youtube that trying to deal with it can be a stressful process that keeps you from getting actual work done. And in my case, this IS my job and I don't want to spend all day fighting robots. However, what I've heard is that if you join a Youtube Network, then copyright claims cannot be made by a Bot - it has to be by an actual human being. This is how Angry Joe, Cinemassacre, and several other channels that feature copyrighted clips operate and it seems to be going well for them.
As such, I have joined a Youtube Network. I don't know if they want to announce my joining yet, so I'm not saying what network it is until they give me the go-ahead. However, because I'm going to start uploading videos again tomorrow, I felt it a good idea to let people know that this is happening.
The Channel is this one: The Tubes of You Link
And if anyone can let me know how to change the username for it (Reuisu is an old handle of mine and I'd prefer to make it something like AT4W-Official or something), please let me know.
Also: I won't be following comments on youtube pages. Moderating the blog's comments makes sense because I get an e-mail that ensures I can read every one and I try to follow TGWTG comments for at least a week when a new video goes up there, but it's impossible for me to keep track of so many when it comes to youtube, as well. And let's face it: Youtube's comment sections will be a hive of scum and villainy the likes of which no one has seen before, so I say if you want to comment to me, bring it over to here, Tumblr, or twitter.

I should also have a table in the Artist Alley/Dealer's Hall, but I don't know how often I'll be there what with everything else going on. That being said, I'll have with me the DVD, the art badges, and prints! Unfortunately, with everything else going on I haven't had a chance to make any plushie cybermats since the last convention. That being said, an added treat for this convention will be that Master the Creator, my title card artist, will also be attending! I haven't talked to him yet about whether he'll be there for all the AT4W panels, but at the very least you'll be able to ask him questions, too! this will also be the first time I do a live show so late at night! We'll see how tired I am by then! Whooo!
EDIT: I'm also contemplating playing the new episode at the "Meet Linkara" panel instead of the live show to give people a chance to ask questions following the live review in case they aren't able to come on Friday. Let me know how you feel about that!

9/30 – SCI-Spy #4
As always, the schedule is subject to change if it turns out the material gives me nothing to work with or because I feel like doing something else. And yep, I'm finally reviewing something from the New 52. And it suuuuuuucks.
Storyline Stuff
As you may have probably noticed, unlike last year, the storyline will NOT be occurring every week. The reason for this is two-fold: one, it's a short storyline ending in October and I can't justify stretching it without adding a subplot or the like, which I'm not really interested in doing with this one aside from what's already planned for it. Two, the reason the storyline was EVERY WEEK last summer was because I needed Linkara to be back at the apartment by October in order to do the Thing-centered Halloween story, since it wouldn't make sense to have the hologram there for that. As such, I needed to hit a lot of story beats along the way and the only way to do that was to have story EVERY week. While there was a lot of it that I recorded ahead of time (the convention visits, for example), it was pretty easy to get burned out by the extra workload. I don't want that to happen this year, especially with all the convention stuff this summer, so there will be a few storyline segments throughout the summer and then story pretty much every week in October for the Halloween storyline. What's going to happen after this storyline concludes? Well, let's not worry about that right now, needless to say I have plans.
Which ones will have story and which ones won't? Well, the only way to be certain is to watch every episode. ^_~
Moichandising
Well, I'm happy to report that the DVD has been a success among people. So far no one's complained about the DVD not being worth the purchase and that aside from one or two instances where the disc skipped, the DVD itself works and has even been arriving internationally without incident. If there DOES seem to be something wrong with it, confirm that it's the disc and not the player and try to clean the disc to the best of your ability. If it's still not working, shoot an e-mail my way and I'll try to get it replaced for you.
Because I'm going to conventions, I'm also bringing merchandise along with me! Along with the DVDs will be a limited amount of plushie cybermats (since they are the most time-consuming to create) at $10 each, badge art, and prints. I'm hoping to have the badges with me at ConBravo to see how well they sell to people, but I should definitely have them for MythiCon. I'll be selling them at $2 a pop and you can see the artwork for them here and here. I'll have 4 different photo prints for sale at $5 each, one as Moarte, one of 90s Kid, one of me in the Obelisk Blue uniform, and one of me in the photo you've probably seen on convention websites. I'll of course sign them, but if you bring any item of your own, including the convention badge or book, I'll sign them for free.
I'm also happy to report that I've set up a Paypal Here device with my smartphone, meaning that I can now accept credit card payments for stuff (assuming nothing goes wrong, since I'll be using it for the first time at ConBravo). Oh, and for ConBravo, the exchange rate is close enough that the prices will remain the same, so $1 USD will be the same as $1 Canadian.
Future DVDs?
Since the DVD has been a success, it's pretty much a guarantee that I'll do DVDs in the future. The purpose of the first one was to get the origin of Linkara's character out there (while leaving a few things up for questions or exploration in the future) and cover behind-the-scenes material like the Making Of the show that people have been asking about. Since that's all covered now, I'd like to hear what people would like to see on future DVDs. I'm thinking that the next time it'll be 2 episodes instead of 3 and leave the rest of the space open for stuff like riffs, Longbox of the Damned, or something else. I'd love to hear suggestions, so feel free to throw them out there.
Longbox of the Damned
Nothing new to report here other than I've begun writing scripts for Longbox of the Damned for this October. As with last year, there's no theme - just 31 comics dealing with monsters, the supernatural, horror, and all that fun stuff. There WILL be some more manga titles this time and of course a mixture of well-known stuff and stuff nobody has probably heard of but I've come across or been donated to me. And naturally there will be some sequel episodes to stuff done for last year since the nature of comic trades has different volumes and trades to cover.
Conventions
Not much else to report on this front other than what you guys already know. Though since ConBravo is coming up next week, here is the schedule of things I'm doing:
Saturday: Most Annoying Game Show in the World at 12 PM
Channel Awesome Q&A 1 at 1 PM
D20 Live at 9 PM
Sunday: Atop the Fourth Wall Live at 10 AM
The Channel Awesome peeps are supposed to have their own table, so no regularly-scheduled autograph time as far as I know, though that might changhe, but I'm going to assume that that's where we'll be operating out of whenever there's downtime. I should note that I don't personally have any crossovers planned for myself since I'm focusing on getting scripts finished for both the live show and the regular episode, but that doesn't mean I won't be appearing in other crossovers. ^_~
And bear in mind that while I'm scheduled to arrive on Friday, there may be complications in that area since I'm flying United and their track record is not exactly great and I'm supposed to be make 2 or 3 stops on United flights AND have relatively short layover times between flights. I'll do everything in my power to get there ASAP, but I'm already anticipating that just getting there is going to be an adventure and a half.
Anything Else
Well, like I said, there's not much else to report. I have the pencils for the last pages of issue 4 of Revolution of the Mask sitting in my Inbox and I need to approve them, need the last page of issue 3 so I can finally release that, STILL haven't watched the first episode of Operation Overdrive (busy Linkara is busy), and I'll of course update people on things as they come. Beyond that, looking forward to seeing people at conventions and looking forward to having you all enjoy the upcoming videos!

6/10 – Kamandi at Earth’s End #4
6/17 – SCI-Spy #3
6/24 – Star Trek: The Next Generation/X-Men #1
7/1 – Mr. T and the T-Force #2
7/8 – Miller Time: All-Star Batman and Robin #6
7/15 – Tandy Computer Whiz Kids: A Deadly Choice
7/22 – Battlestar Galactica: Journey’s End #1
7/29 – Marville #5
The next two months have the unintentional theme of "sequels to previous episodes I've done." I didn't do it deliberately - I actually mostly just wanted to get away from theme months. March of the Titans and 2099 Month were fine, but it gets kind of grating to review the same topic or at least similar material for multiple weeks at a time.
And to clarify what "Comic Book Quickies" is, basically I've collected lots of shorter material that isn't long enough to support a full episode, like the Hostess Fruit Pie Ads, short stories, or other such material. As such we're going to try a kind of hodge-podge of taking a look at as much as time permits. This will be similar to the Comic Book Advertisements episode, except with stuff focused specifically on comics.
Should Lightbringer Be In the Public Domain?
Sooo yeah, a while ago I said I was looking for a new writer for Lightbringer. Needless to say I STILL have not had a chance to look over people's submissions. As such, a thought occurred to me and I wanted to throw this out there: what if I were to officially release Lightbringer into the public domain? That way, anybody who wanted to work on it could do so and have their own version of the product and their own ideas on what to do with it.
Do people think this is a good idea? Bad idea? I'd like to hear feedback on that. I'd probably still answer in private the plans I had for it.
DVD Update
The DVD is coming together pretty well. All three episodes have been filmed, 2 of the 3 storyline segments have been filmed (which may require additional audio work for the same reason I haven't filmed the third segment - it's been very rainy in Minnesota over the last few weeks and the last story segment involves filming outside).
Since I haven't had a chance to gauge how long the DVD is, I still can't say what extras will be on it. The top priorities are a Making Of Atop the Fourth Wall segment as well as talking about the various characters of the show. An additional thing I'd like to include are riffs, but we'll see how much space is left.
History of Power Rangers
So obviously my plan of getting this all done with before the end of the year hasn't been progressing all that well, but I'm still going to try for it. I've been busy the last few weeks on the DVD and the plushie cybermats along with the regular episodes, so I haven't been able to watch any of Overdrive yet.
Plushie Cybermats
Speaking of, this is going along very well. I don't know how popular they'll actually be at conventions when I go to them, but hopefully people will like them enough. And worst case scenario, I intend to sell whatever is left on Etsy either way since the things have proven so popular before. Now because they take time to produce by my own hands, I'm prioritizing getting them done with for conventions, but the good news for some cons is that I'll have an actual table and since I bought a kid's sewing machine that's small and portable, I can bring it along and work on them while actually at the con.
Longbox of the Damned
I'm still hoping to do a Midsummer's Nightmare of Longbox of the Damned in July or August, though August is pushing it. The hardest part of this process is the writing - it takes the longest to do and when I have to fill in almost every day, it's a bit difficult. Even if I do end up having to scrap the Midsummer's Nightmare videos, we're still going to have Longbox of the Damned in October and I PROMISE that.
New T-Shirt Designs!
We have some new t-shirt designs compliments of Masterthecreater, the guy who does the title cards for the show! Some of them have been long-awaited character ones, others are some new catchphrase t-shirts!
To get a closer look at them, why not head over to the Printfection Store and take a look! Or maybe even buy one or two!
The Adblock "Issue"
Sooo obviously there have been a few responses to the video I made about adblockers. I wanted to address a few things, particularly for concerned fans.
First and foremost, a lot of people have been expressed concern about the amount of hate and vitriol they perceive that I have recived over this. To be perfectly honest, it's really not that much. While there ARE plenty of troll posts or just negative comments and responses, they're still overall pretty civil. There have been video responses to it on youtube, but the ultimate irony there is that... well... I don't really care about the youtube stuff. If you've noticed my youtube page, you'll see that it's very rarely used. Sure, I watch videos on youtube, but I don't really care about any video responses people have made over it. Furthermore, while I did respond to a few people in the video's comments section shortly after it was released, I've pretty much decided to ignore it. I've found that youtube comments pages are really not any useful place to discuss anything and the sheer number of hateful posts is not worth my effort. I was actually tempted to disable comments altogether, but I didn't want to deal with the people who would start sending e-mails shouting "YOU'RE SUPPRESSING FREE SPEECH!!!111" even though it was posted on this blog, on tumblr, and on TGWTG, where there has been PLENTY of debate, both positive and negative.
And even then, people are entitled to their opinion. The goal of the "Please Let the Ads Play" video was to explain in a calm and reasonable fashion how ads affect ME and MY videos. Some say this is selfish. I say I'm not attempting to start some grand crusade or preach a higher moral message about the virtues of advertising - I was just pointing out how it affected ME. But if people disagree with that, let them. Do not start flame wars over any reason, particularly not over this. If people are genuinely acting like trolls or just spewing hate over the thing... let them. Those who have legitimate concerns can freely make them and if I have time I will answer to the best of my ability. If they don't, then let them fester and rot in their own space.
I'm not depressed or concerned or worried or feel saddened about any of this - the response has been pretty light, quite frankly. My fans, as always, are the best people out there and I'm extremely proud to call you fans. I didn't ask for any donations, nor do I WANT any donations, but regardless people have been extremely generous when they certainly didn't need to be.
And something else to clarify: I am not currently in danger of anything, not now nor when I made the video - it was supposed to inform the people of the issues and how it COULD affect me in the future. I'm doing just fine and still able to live off of the ad revenue. Better now, in fact, and I'll tell you why.
Another recurring thing that people who didn't like the video had to say was that it was a big mistake to do this, since the video was somehow "patronizing" and "condescending," plus it informed people that adblock existed, and thus for all those reasons the video would just drive people away from watching the ads or to stop watching me entirely. Since that video a week and a half ago, I've been keeping tabs on my numbers and the amount of monetizable views. The number of people watching has not fluctuated. Roughly the same amount of people who watched before the video are watching now. And the monetizable views? Before the video, I was only getting monetizable revnue on 1/3 to 1/2 of my audience. Since then, that number has risen to 3/4 to 9/10 depending on the day. Basically, I've jumped from having less than half of my audience with ads to almost ALL of them watching ads.
While I have no way of predicting the future and this could still result in something bad, at the moment... yeah, making the video wasn't a mistake. At all.

VLOG: 5-19-13 - Star Trek: Into Darkness
Split into two parts due to the hour and 22-minute long discussion, Linkara and his brother discuss the twelfth (or second?) Star Trek film.
EDITED TO ADD: I can't believe I even have to address this because this has nothing to do with the Star Trek vlog, but apparently my fans have been flaming a youtube user called The Archfiend due to remarks I made in the comments section of this post. I want to clarify that I was confused and thought he and another individual were the same person when they are not.
Do not flame him or anyone else, for that matter. I don't support flame wars and I try to admit my mistakes when I make them, as I did here. And that is the end of the discussion there concerning him, the douchebag who DID do the things I mentioned in the comments, or the "Please Let the Ads Play" video... at least in the comments on THIS post. If you want to discuss the adblock situation, do so in the "Please Let the Ads Play" post. This is a post about Star Trek and Star Trek alone. Thank you.

So I want to put things behind me
Literally, I mean.
See, I’ve gotten my hands on three new shelves that are just big enough to put behind the futon. They’re deep enough that I can put objects on them (or comics or whatever) and the idea dawned on me that I’ve never really been happy with the blank wall behind me. I am also not confident in my ability to put up posters, especially since I rent an apartment and don’t want to try to put them up while risking damage to the walls.
As such, I’m thinking of putting these shelves behind the futons and populating them with objects relevant to the show. As such, I’d like to know from the fans if they’d like this and if they do what they think I should put in there specifically or if they think this is a terrible idea and I should keep things the way they are.
Sooo, have at it, fanbase!

New T-Shirts!
Quite frankly I should have added these designs a while ago, but here they are, along with some other color options (and alternate colors for women, since that’s how Printfection works)!
We finally have shirts for all three versions of the AT4W logo, symbol, an example of how cloning works in the Clone Saga, and Because Poor Literacy is KEWL.
You can get them all at the Printfection store!!
